I have my opinions on what are the causes...and i also know what the news says...and websites online.. and all that fun stuff.
i believe it's simply supply and demand. its the best buisness in this country right now...so as a result the producers and raise the prices to whatever they'd like. as a result .. i bought a bike .. best 50 bucks i ever spent. honestly.
so what do you guys think? and have you done anything about it??!

Well, I live in KS, so how about a nice, horse-drawn covered wagon for truckin' around town?
There have been about as many excuses for high gas prices in the news as there are days in the year.
I was trying to think today about what our country will be like in another 5 years. How our reactions to our mistakes in capitalism will change how we do things....
I pictured highways full of bicycles. If I didn't have to lug around 2 kids, and my husband didn't have to carry his tools to work, bikes would work for us too. Can't imagine what'll happen in the snow.
I believe that speculation in the futures market is ruining the price of oil/gas. I also believe that the govt has let this happen because it keeps our economy moving.
Funny..I don't know if you are old enough to remember the gas lines in the 70's, but those were a direct result of Pres. Nixon freezing the price of gas (as good old Hillary Clinton planned to do, too). His actions caused terribly long gas lines. It was a real mess. You'd think that present day leaders would be able to look back 30-40 years to learn not to repeat history by making the same mistakes.
I don't know why it is so hard for our government to give huge incentives to auto makers who develop a car that doesn't use gas.
On the other hand....If we found a way to make a car run with wind turbines, the govt would find a way to tax the WIND, and heavily, at that.
Welcome to capitalism.
It would be nice if our government, if they REEEEALLY want to stop global warming and not be dependent on terrorists to survive (they sell us the oil)...then they would give us FREE electric cars.
What bothers me about this whole gas thing, is that many people who don't have much money are the ones who do most of the driving. They have to choose whether to keep their jobs and drive, or to eat 3 meals a day. Wealthy people still drive their humvees and escalades to run errands all day...they use tons of gas.
Soon, I feel that it will come down to the fact that only the wealthy will be on the roads.
The only thing my family has done so far, is to stop driving.
My husband drives his 20mpg car to work and to run errands by himself. I and my daughters and the Chrysler Pacifica stay HOME.
I think I might be more worried than most people about the gas situation. I see that it will turn our middle income family into a LOW income family....within the next year.
My husband has been driving 600 miles a week for his job, and is not reimbursed.
Someone is getting rich from our suffering. If someone wants us to stop being dependent on oil (Bush...our govt), they need to provide CHEAP alternatives immediately.
Otherwise, I fear, there will be rioting soon.
And, yes, every day, there is another excuse for gas prices going up. I am so sick of hearing each and every one.

Answer
Get an escalade, and pimp it out. Lower it, paint it candy electric blue, and put the custom grilles on it, and get
some 26" rims.
