How Much Does It Cost Annually to live in Rincon, Puerto Rico?

We have fallen in love with Rincon. Could some adults give me an idea of the total annual cost of living for 2 adults who want to live NEAR but not necessarily On the beach, have one car, and a relaxed lifestyle that would include air-conditioning if over 85 degrees? Please, no commercial posters respond to this posting.

Answer
Well...price will vary on te beach or near the beach. If your planning to stay all year long, look outside the places posted on the internet for guesthouses, vacation rentals.. It also depends what season your coming down since a fixed price per month will change. Example, there are a couple places going for $400-500 month away from beach, not incl cable water elect.. If you want to be closer to the beach expect to pay 2-3x more per month, if long term and renting from homeowner, not a rental property for vacation. *BUT the best search is to come down here, and drive around since most of these places do not advertise on the net.

Electric is very..very expensive, almost double, maybe even triple is some cases compared to some of the states in USA. Cars, another one, very expensive, since we have to import them down here, there is a tax on them that makes them expensive, and almost stays with the car. New or used your choice, but expensive. There is no such thing as a train station car down here that is $500, they almost all start in $1k+ mark, and they will all tell you low miles, down here that means, anywhere from 80-150 thousand miles.. I dont get it also, I seen a car that is a 2001, and has 132k miles and they still want $5ooo dollors for it.. and was beat up..It looked like heck.. kid ya not. The only thing that is good is that a used car the insurance in just under $200 year.. but that only covers up to $3k of damages, but there are places for extra coverage.

AC, I lived here for 9 years, and only used the AC a couple times, but I do live with fans, and a couple cold showers a day..

Now, your relaxed life style, either eating out, or stay at home and cook.. Food at the Econo or Selectos, Pueblo, prices are high, also.. its another import thing, expensive, but you have to do your shopping wisely, places offer different things at diff prices, like in the states. Local pinchos, bars, are always the cheapest with very tasty food.Restaurants, are expensive, especially in touristy places, and well from my experience, food is not worth the price.

AND to close this article, didnt know if your going to be buying a house, condo etc.. but, everything is negotiable, didntt be fooled and walk away, if the deal is too good, on buying a house make sure there is a title, and a clean one at that.

Is it safe to drive 19 hours to Florida?

Juiceman

We are going on a last minute vacation so we are driving and I'm taking my wife and kids on a long road trip. Is it safe and any advice?

Answer
children are only the horror their parents make them into. for the 16th time in my 8yr old's life, we are about to embark on a 20 hour train ride to moscow, a flight to houston, then a 3 hr drive home. for my son, it is simply life. he will climb the deays like a monkey in the train, sit like a gentleman in the plane and dern-well would drive the rented car if i let him. sensibly. so if you know your children, that should be no problem. speak calmly to your children as you have always done. tell them how beautiful thw USA is and they can SEE it as they drive. INTERACT with them- ask them to look for something unusual (i used to notice some electric transmission towers were ballerina style, standing on a single toe rather than the linebackers we had near home, broad, stocky-legged and tall. also, highways and trains run parallel some places. find on your maps (sorry, i still use real maps and assume EVERYBODY has a map) which stretches have railroads and announce to the troops to be on the lookout for trains. if your children like trains... TRY to unplug the evectronics (ganes, dvds, notebooks, ipadpodphone) and engsge each other. don't go to war over it! if gaming is life, let 'em live. try to find towns and cities with interesting things for you AND the children. i suppose each has a digital camera. like paris, texas has an eiffel tower with a cowboy hat on top!
safe- of course, drive 5 mph under the limit, you are not running a railroad (plagarism- no source quoted!!) you are on vacation. have required child seats and boosters WEAR SEAT BELTS (AS AN EXAMPLE TO THE LITTLE ONES) everyone will want a restroom break, expect to stop endlessly. pepsi break, water break- keep drinks in the cabin to let everyone drink. dehydration can cause headaches9 not good on a trip.
ASK everyone what they would like to see. google for places and try to fit in stops in several places.ENJOY the trip. when stopping, if in a safe place, toss a frisbee or football, etc. some small towns have municipal parks ideally located a block or two from the highway.

Questions about this bill that has been approved in my state of NC about saving dogs in hot cars?

Newsh

This was just posted on my local news channel's page today about how First responders, fire fighters and law enforcement and Animal Control officers can break into any car and rescue the dog, if they have probable reason to believe that the dog is too hot to be in a car. First of all I'm totally for this bill, and it's horrible for anyone to leave a dog in a hot car, but are all first responders and law enforcement and fire fighters going to have to carry leashes with them? If someone runs into the grocery store for a couple of minutes, but leaves the windows cracked open, and a first responder, who happens to be in the parkinglot, who is not experienced on how to deal with dogs tries to get a dog out of the car, and the dog is scared and runs away, or bites them, than what happens? There is no excuse to leave a dog in a hot car, it is horrible, but these are just some cases I'm concerned about where something could go wrong with first responders trying to break into cars. Furthermore, someone else made a comment about some electric cars are hard to tell if it's running. Some neighbors of theirs apparently have an electric car, and the ac can be controlled by a cell phone. So, these first responders would have to make sure the car is not running, because those types of cars are really quiet. Here is the web address to the story.

http://myfox8.com/2013/07/17/nc-house-approves-bill-to-save-dogs-in-hot-cars/

Answer
Yes, more often than not, bills are passed based on one situation. There is another ban trying to make itself legal. Animals are not allowed in the front seat of cars. Not on a passenger seat or driver seat. I understand if you have a dog in your lap it is unsafe, but honestly I don't understand the deal if a dog is chilling in the passenger seat.

...Nevermind that. I understand your point. Breaking into a car can cause serious damage to the vehicle, especially if it is all in vain. What if the a/c IS running? Electric cars are awfully quiet. Sometimes, having a window open isn't the best thing, either. It lets hot air in. If there isn't any breeze, the dog can be hotter in a car with the window open.

Honestly I think it is a wonderful thing in some cases. I personally helped rescue a Rat Terrier. I'm proud of that. If the car was electric and the a/c was running and yet the police STILL broke in, I would feel horrible. And there is an endless amount of ways the law enforcement can have their @ss on fire for this, too. Someone could get sued.

Disaster is waiting to happen. We can just hope our law enforcement is smart enough to figure out the signs that the a/c isn't running and that the dog isn't happy.

Hope I helped! ~ <3

Obama supporters, tree huggers, assorted liberals can you handle the latest news on electric cars?

regerugged

See Motor Trend Magazine August 2013, page 24. Coda electric cars now out of business. Volt has a sticker price of $40,000 and Chevrolet loses money on every one it sells. Nissan Leaf has a price tag of $37,000. Fiat will sell it's electric 500 for $36,000. But it loses rear seat room and takes 24 hours to recharge. Tesla is profitable. But selling 20,000 cars annually at a cost of $75,000 each, they will not make a dent in the auto market.

Answer
America needs to tax the electric needed to recharge these cars like they tax gasoline for road repairs

tesla is only popular because its a sports car that delivers some performance, the other ones are just shoe box looking crapola

Answer
what kind of toys? R/C cars? Electric trains? Robots? R/C flying planes? Not a very detailed question. If you're talking R/C cars, the natural inertia will slow the car down of the motor components inside, there's alot of friction to overcome. That's why the batteries don't last but so long before needing a recharge. It's got natural built-in braking.

Is my boyfriend trying to kill me or cause harm to my children?

Katie

I have been seeing this guy since July 2012. at first impression he seemed like a charming, well-intentioned, nice guy. As our relationship progressed he would start making comments after we had sex, or on the phone to the effect of "you ever leave me, you're dead" or "if you ever broke up with me I would shoot you and then shoot myself". and then he would add a familiar "JUST KIDDING!" afterwards and I'd be left wondering if I should fear for my life or that of my childrens. He has tried to ciphon gas out of my car to keep me from leaving his house, this past summer I overdosed on OTC sleeping aid pills and he KNEW what I had tried to do, and watched me fade in and out of conciousness, struggle to breathe and had difficulty even making out words all night until I finally fell asleep. I should have been brought to the ER, instead he knew I could have died and watched me struggle for my life that whole night. At that point I should have left him, and acknowledged the truth that I was with someone that DID not care about my life, Instead I went to treatment and a halfway house and got out a month ago and since then, I have had two different incidents that leave me wondering if he is subtly trying to kill me or cause long term harm to me and my children and family.
The first incident happened at his best friends apartment, I came over to see him there and his roomate Josh was home, we started drinking and my boyfriend went into the back room and just stayed there laying in the dark for 20 minutes, me and his friend decided to leave and we were gone for at least 4 hours seeing other friends. We get back to his apartment and realize the door frame to his front door is stripped on the dead bolt side, like the entire siding of frame is stripped away, our thoughts afterwards was so that my boyfriend was able to gain access at anytime, we got into his apartment and out of the corner of my eye I saw movement outside from the window, none of the lights worked in the place, the flourescent kitchen hanging light was broken and flickering and all the major appliances in the entire apartment, including the dryer and washer, were all unplugged. I began to get a bad gut feeling that something wasnt right. I had his roommate check the stove and sure enough some of the stuff behind the stove was messed with and was moved away from the wall. We realized the propane tank off the gas grill outside his house was suddenly missing. Willie came in thru the front door and attacked Josh. Josh was already by this time having breathing problems and said he felt like everything was in slow motion. After the fight, my boyfriend "left" and his roommate was laying on the living room floor struggling to breathe, having an anxiety attack, he threw up afterwards and his muscles began to twitch and he lost basically all muscle coordination. I started having the feeling of panic, my heart started racing rapidly and I felt like I couldnt breathe. I stood up and opened the door and breathed fresh air and began to feel better. I mentioned to his roommate that something was really wrong. I googled natural gas poisoning and came to two conclusions that my boyfriend was trying to do. Either build up enough natural gas in his roommates apartment so that when we walked in and tried to flick on the light switch, the electric current would be enough so that there would be an explosion. Or leak natural gas/carbon monoxide into the apartment and watch us die while he was hiding out in the garage. I tried to fathom this whole situation by myself afterwards, my boyfriend adamently denies all of this, but has begun to unravel. I have caught him in several lies, and when he gets caught he admits fault but still tries to outwit me and think he can get by my sixth sense and gut instinct. I have a high sense of danger or when things arent right and I just feel like he would intentionally inflict damage to something in my home or in my car that would cause severe long term damage such as carbon monoxide or natural gas exposure. In my vehicle, my check engine light has come on since this incident, and when riding in my vehicle with my children or on my own, i get terrible headaches, feel like i cant breathe and smell an exhaust fume. Tonight I had to drive with my child to the clinic for a medical problem and it seems we both are short of breath tonight, and have slight impetigo. The other incident involves him making himself appear as mr. nice guy, has all the right words, says all the right things, lies like its nothing and has abusive tendencies from his past including reckless endangerment of his ex girlfriends current boyfriend and trying to run him off the road. I am scared to leave him for fear that if I do, he will harm the ones that mean the most to me, my mother and my children. Give me your advice, input, suggestions, and what any of this sounds like or means to you, if anything.

I asked a question earlier today about watching"Who Killed the Electric Car" on the Green Channel.Let me know what you think about the movie,if you watched it.We are polluting "MOTHER EARTH" quicker than we thought, and I live on the Northern California where gas is $3.40 a gallon-I think higher than any place but Alaska. We are being ripped off and it time to do something different, you think?

Answer
Because there is too much money to be made. End of story.

The gas/petrol we pump into our cars is making someone an absolute fortune. When someone has an absolute fortune they have absolute power and total control. They will bleed the earth dry before they make changes.

Running your kids to school and driving to work does not require 0-60 in 3 seconds. You have no clue what you are talking about. Also, what the hell does climate change have to do with peak oil? Doh.

Is it legal to drive with your kid in a Baby Bjorn carrier?

reagan1861

I always wondered, and then I saw on some tabloid progam that the guy from Red Hot Chili Peppers was driving around with his kid strapped to him in a Baby Bjorn carrier. Is that OK? Since you would have the seatbelt on, technically the kid is belted, too. Or is it illegal? What if the airbag went off? Of course this guy was driving an electric car, so probably the max speed is like 10 MPH.

Answer
100% illegal. All children under the age of 18 must be seatbelted in their own seatbelt (can't share) and children under 4 years old and 40 lbs must be in a state approved carseat. Children under 1 year old and 20 lbs must be rearfacing in the carseat.

Would people buy an electric car if there was an efficient method of charging the cars?

best electric cars usa image

Don'tGiveU

I am conducting a little poll to see how many people would use an electric car if it were efficient to charge (multiple charging stations, long range, and low cost).

In other words, would you drive a car that you could pay $0.75 (per 40 miles) to fill up vs. $4.00 (per 40 miles).
Just say YES if you would. Or if you wouldn't please state why.

Answer
Electric cars are a non-starter in the USA. People are too wigged out about the battery-range thing. Wait until plug-in hybrids are common, and people go a whole year without ever using the onboard gas engine, and they start going "hey wait, why did I pay $5000 extra for the gas engine?" And people will figure out that electrics CAN work.

What is the cost to run an electric car?

Patrick

Doesn't most electricity come from generators that are powered by oil or even coal. If the price of oil goes up, won't the price of electricity follow? What is the cost per mile for an electric car?

Answer
Right now electricity is generated by nuclear , hydro , coal ,
oil , solar , thermal , and wind power. The USA uses more nuclear powered electric than any country in the world incuding France. Nuclear creates about 20 % of our electric power. Before clean coal electricity plants , most diesel electricity generation was created switching from coal to oil to reduce emissions. The cost per mile for an electric car is 8 cents a mile. The problem is the car will only run about 40 miles and it takes a long time to charge the battery. A better solution is to create hydrogen using electric power. Then fuel cells powered by hydrogen can run electric motor cars at speeds up to 90 miles an hour over 270 miles per fill up. see n1r.us for details. Right now if the cost of oil goes up , diesel generated electricity will become more expensive.

Made an offer: Is this house worth losing over $6k?

electric toy cars for toddlers
on ... toy car for the kids, right? Uh, Uh! This is
electric toy cars for toddlers image

Me

My wife and I submitted an offer on a home yesterday afternoon following a second showing yesterday morning. It is a 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath, 2-car garage home in a well-to-do community in Hillsborough county New Hampshire, listed for $269k. It is immaculate beyond belief and completely move-in ready: Granite counters, electric cooktop, double convection ovens, hardwood throughout the ground level and a beautiful built-in. It also has central AC and a generator. There are 1,200ish sq ft on the ground level and another 500ish sq ft of finished space in the basement (that cannot legally be a 3rd bedroom) including a finished laundry room and closet and a mostly-finished room that is plumbed to be a future 3/4 bath.

Eight hours after offering full asking price with $8k in concessions, we received a counteroffer stating that the sellers "needed and wanted" to walk away with $267k, meaning we'd need to up our offer by $6k to $275k if we wanted our concession. They also rejected paying for a $385 home warranty plan (no big deal - our agent writes them standard into all her offers).

Even though we're only talking about $6,000 or $35/month, it feels like it would put us in dangerous financial territory in terms of us overpaying and potentially being "stuck" in this house later on. $269k already felt like a stretch but we were willing to do it because it is completely move-in ready. As nice as the house is, though, it is a 2 bedroom house selling for $269k in a neighborhood with 2 other houses having 3 or 4 bedrooms both selling for $279k. The 3 bed house is absolutely out of the question (it's a "flip" and we found evidence of water damage and mold), but the 4 bedroom is in very nice condition, has over 2,000 sq ft and a pool. It would just need heavy decor updates because the lady who owns it is about 50 years older than us.

We also find it fishy that the sellers just happen to need the exact amount on my mortgage pre-approval letter, not to mention the fact that the seller's agent is telling us there were multiple showings yesterday when the sellers left only one "information sheet" on the desk and 4 pairs of shoe booties in the entryway (they're a little OCD, I think). and seemingly left with no diaper bag or anything else for their infant and young toddler when they were likely to be gone at least 4 or hours for these 11am and 1pm showings (we arrived early and they were leaving when we got there). The home has been on the market since June/July and there has been no recent price change.

So with all this said, we have made peace with the likelihood that we will not be buying this house. Before we pass on their counteroffer, though, it would be nice to get some opinions. Is this house worth losing over $6k?
We have only "officially" been in the market for a week but have been monitoring listings for a couple years. During that time a handful of really great houses have come and gone but we weren't in a position to buy. This is not our dream house. Just a nice one that needs little to no work. We were not intending in buying a 2 bedroom.
Thank you very much Equality. Just FYI and everyone else's, we will not be growing our family. We have a teenage daughter (who has her eye on the basement) and that's all we're planning on.

Answer
Lovely as it sounds - 2 bedroom homes are hard sells. Keep that in mind for if and when you decide to sell in the future. You don't say if you plan on having children - but if you do - a 2 bedroom house is going to get "too small" very soon after. And even if you don't have children - 1200 square feet seems a bit small anyway. Any buyer looking that has children looking to buy a house will not consider a 2 bedroom.

As it does sound lovely with all the upgrades - 1200 square feet, 2 bedroom - with children - will become too small for you - if you do have children in the future. As evidenced if - as you say - they are a young couple with an infant and a toddler. 1200 square feet becomes too small for a single person after awhile - Much less all the toys and paraphernalia that children have. And will be too small for any buyers - with children - should you decide to sell in the future.

Also, sellers should have never seen or been told what your pre-approved limit was. Their agent told you what they "needed and wanted". Which should make no difference to you. It's what you guys "need and want" that matters as this is the biggest, most important - and spendy - decision you will ever make.

Did they come back with a counter in writing? Or are you just being told this? Your offer stands if they did not counter in writing. Do not agree to anything verbally. Whether it's them saying it verbally - or you. And if they counter in writing - then you either sign/agree to it or you walk away. That's how it works.

As a former real estate agent and buyer of about 7 houses over the years - I can tell you that you should never spend at the top of the pre-approved amount. That makes one what is called "house poor". Just as you should never max out a credit card. One should not spend all one has to spend. Sure you will own a lovely home - but with all the expenses of owning a home - it gets to be just a lovely burden.

If this is your first home buying experience - my suggestion would be to lower your sights a bit. Don't go for the top of the pre-approved amount. That is an amount that the bank thinks you can afford - based on numbers, ratios and all that - but it's what I call Monopoly money. Looks good on paper but reality will show that it can - and will be - a stretch financially month after month after month. As well as my experience has shown 2 bedrooms can be a liability when one wants to sell in the future. As evidenced by what you said that they have an infant and a toddler. So this house is too small for them already - they are sorry they bought a 2 bedroom and if young - likely need more money to get into something bigger. Most buyers - these days - want an office or a den or a bedroom for each child or a guest room or TV room or whatever... so keep that in mind in your long term plans. One may think they will never sell - apparently this couple thought so. But circumstances change. And possibly yours will too - in 5 or 10 years.

But bottom line - remember - what they "need or want" is no concern of yours. Don't let any emotions like that take over common sense. Spend what you are comfortable with - and I say again - that should not be the top of your credit limit.

Buying a less expensive - easier to sell in the future - and doing your own upgrades - even gradually over time - can be fun and may be best for you right now.

Electric Powered Ride-On Cars for toddlers- which to buy? Where to buy?

I want to buy one for my son for christmas. However, I looked at amazon and there are so many different ones. Some are cheap, like $40 while others are $500. I can't figure out what makes one different from another. Which do you recommend? And where are good places to buy them? Thanks so much!

Answer
My hubby wants to buy my daughter one of those, and they are very very pricey.

They have them at Toys R' Us. We were told the the Escalade is very good, that it lasted their kids 3 summers. They also said that the Jeep SUCKS, it only lasted 1 summer.

Hope that helps. :)

Answer
http://www.expatforum.com/articles/cost-of-living/cost-of-living-in-malaysia.html

Thats a good article on cost of living in that area...

It says the cost of living for a house is around 100 to 150 euros now based on your said income of 8500 ringgits = 1,697 euros you should be more than ok.

But according to this gentlman it would seem somewhat more expensive...Decent (furnished) condo in one of the Damansaras or such as TTDI/Sri Hartamas (per month):-
One-bedroomed : RM2,000 perhaps less.
3-4 bedroomed : RM3-4,000
Electricity : RM80-RM250 (depending on # of occupants)
Water/Indah Water : RM20-RM50
Gas : RM30-40
Eating out at local foodstalls : RM5-RM10 per person per meal
Eating out at western restaurants : RM25-RM100 per person per meal.
Draught beer in a pub : RM8-RM12 per mug (1/2 pint). Look for "happy hours"!
Premium cigarettes : RM9 per 20-box.
Taxis from the named suburbs to city centre : RM15-RM20 each way.
Car hire : RM120-RM150 per day (but much better rates for long term lease)
Petrol : RM1.80 per litre

I'd personally recommend you look around in TTDI, especially if your wife and daughter join you, as this is close by the huge shopping complexes of 1 Utama and Mutiara Damansara, which will be convenient for your wife (no need to go downtown for anything). There are also international schools in the vicinity, and it's generally quite a pleasant (green) and safe area where good English is spoken by almost 100% of the residents and shop/business keepers.
Many ex-pats incline to Mont Kiara, but this is rapidly becoming an oppressive concrete jungle.
There are usually units to rent in Villa Flora or Kiara Park at (fairly) reasonable rates, both of which are well-run, secure condominiums, and a few minutes from the Kenchala (sp) link, which will scoot you into and out of town.

Apparently its all about location...Well, if you don't really mind the inaccessibility to foreign grocers, pubs or a decent Montessori, I'd recommend, since your office is in KL, to stay in somewhere like Sentul or Gombak. You can get a decent 2-room apartment for about RM700. Electricity, let's just say you have no air-con but you have a computer, fridge, hot-water shower, electric kettle and iron, perhaps RM100. Food I don't know how to quote, but to get 3 decent meals a day (and I'm talking about keeping it about RM20 per person per day) it would cost about RM2000 for 3 people. The rest for transport it depends, you taking LRT, car, taxi or bus? Let's just say you take the LRT, I'd give it about RM100. Well, I guess all in all, to just survive decently, you'd need about RM3000 for you and your family.

Its a multi racial country. Living in the cities you get everything that Singapore has but less expensive. Living in smaller towns, its cheaper. Travelling from North to South by driving takes 7 hours via highways with tolls. Cost of living: Heavy Breakfast RM4.00, Heavy Lunch + Juice RM9.00, Heavy Tea time RM 4.00, Heavy Dinner + Juice RM 10.00 and Supper RM 5.00.
We Malaysian eat hell of a lot. There are stalls, shops everywhere and every time is food. Even McDonalds is 24/7.

Cities Rent a room Rm300 per month, towns RM300 the whole house. No guns, only the government has it and the underworld drug dealers. Death to all drug peddlers. You can't find gunshops and very limited shooting range. Even rich people can't get guns. Excellent schools and hospitals. English widely spoken. Imagine Malaysian nurses can easily migrate to Australia, just pass the IELTS tests. That's quality. Learn more for those interested. Especially the British, UK the senior citizen should just sell their London home and live in Malaysia. Small homes in London cost 1 million pounds that's RM 7 million. Can live like kings and queens with full servants in Kuala Lumpur, balance of monies put into unit trust. Australia to KL cheap flights coming very soon estimated RM 1, 200 return.

Solar cell phones and automobiles? We can do it!?

wallaroo w

I have 2 ideas, actually 3. 1) Make automobiles have solar bodies, so that in the daylight, the sun generates power to run an electric engine, which in turn, could charge batteries that the car could run on at night. 2) Have solar panels on our cell phones. Have the body of the outside of cell phones collect electricty from sunlight, so we'd never EVER need to plug them into power outlets. It's possible to do. 3) Make it a law world wide to have all homes, roofs, and buildings have solar panels on them. Since so much land and water is real estate, why not have all surfaces made into solar panels? It can be done. But, electric companies would have to buy power from us!
I think these are brilliant ideas. Why no ansers yet? Maybe electric companies would go out of business?

Answer
The solar car has been done. But in order to be practical, it only leaves about 2 cubic yards of space for the passenger and any cargo. NO ONE is going to squeezing into a 6x3x3 area to drive around each day, and certainly not if they have kids. And that doesn't even begin to address truck shipping needs!

Rooftop solar panels have also proven to be a lot more expensive to manufacture, install, and maintain than the energy output they provide. A typical rooftop costs about $75,000 to install. It would take you over 100 years to recoup that cost. So it simply isn't practical.

Solar powered cell phones? I'm all for that! This way, most of the time when people want to use them inside cars and restaurants and movie theaters, they wouldn't work! You'd have to go outside and be in direct sunlight for them to work. THAT is a fantastic idea.

A much more practical solution is to require more people to ride motorcycles, by law. They do it on Bermuda and other island nations where traffic and pollution are a concern, and in places where there are large numbers of people like China, India, Europe and the rest of Asia, motorcycles are not only more prevalent but they are also more efficient. The typical 650cc motorcycle today gets between 40-mph and 50-mph. THAT is a REAL thing we can do today.

If the law said you could only use a motorcycle within city limits, you'd not only see a massive savings in energy use, but much better traffic, much better and more attentive driving skills (by necessity), and much more interest in letting people work from home.

The price of petrol and diesel are rising day by day and our hydrocarbon reserves are diminishing...Although researches are still going on..to find a substitute, what else can we do to prevent "lack of fuel" condition??

Any ideas?Any sugestions??
Johnnie, as you said, the earth recycles....but,it takes a huge amount of time for that...Also...the organic matter(such as plants, animals etc..) are also getting used up..

Answer
First thing we could do would be to talk about it, spread awareness, let people know that there is an issue which needs to be tackled before it turns into a crisis. You posing this question depicts that we (at least you) have got the first step right.

Let me first state that in my opinion, there is no out-of-the-box easy solution for this. The only answers are search for newer and non-traditional sources of energy like geothermal energy, tidal energy, solar energy, liquid hydrogen, garbage energy etc and exercise controlled and minimized use of non-replenishable sources of energy.

Here are a few suggestions-

1- Save oil!
Seen as a caption in many of the children's painting competitions- "Save Oil!" should be the motto of everyone around the planet. Personal automobiles should be used less. Public transport facilities should be ameliorated.

2- Go CFL!
Compact fluorescent light bulbs should replace the energy consuming electric bulbs. Likewise, age-old machines should make way for the modern energy efficient appliances.

3- Check vehicles!
What was the last time you neglected your bike/ car's poor average and mileage? Over-consumption should be kept under check by keeping your ride in good condition.

4- Search!
Search for new oil reserves might just buy us more time to think over and solve the impending crisis.

5- Fire and oil make a deadly combo...
Keep the oil refineries and reserves well protected from fire. Not only these accidental fires cause a loss of money and lives, they result in huge loss of the natural resources.

6- Encourage the solar cooker.
Don't mock the nuclear plant. It is a shy but bright kid. Kidding! Ok bad joke... I mean to say- we should slowly work towards establishing non-traditional sources of energy in our lifestyles. Nuclear energy still has a wide scope of application. Same with hydroelectric, solar, wind and other alternatives.

7- Turn off the lights, switch off the fans....
You're probably yawning reading this. This had been repeated so many times but still... you have to save energy in day-to-day affairs.

8- Spread awareness.
Yes, we need more campaigns. The chapters in our social-studies books have already told and retold us all these things but, there is a certain crowd that needs to be told about this in a more effective manner.

9- Smokeless and fuel efficient chulhas.
Here, in India, villages still rely on fuel wood and coal for their basic energy needs. The smokeless chulhas (stoves) go a long way in conserving wood from blind consumption.

10- Use Biogas.
We need more biogas plants. They, in my view, are the best and simplest alternatives in terms of energy cycling. Go biogas! So what if it doesn't smell like roses?

11- Population!
All these measures are of no or little use if the consumption still keeps growing. How about we put a check on population growth? We have been listening to this since the beginning! Do something! Take lessons from China!

12- Plant trees....
Again a well-known and over-discussed solution. We need more mass campaigns. More fuel wood trees and shrubs should be grown.

Obama's stimulus plan was designed by what specific groups or cultures?

Jhon S

hello
could you please tell me what specific groups and cultures designed the Obama stimulus plan?
thank you.

Answer
Obama shares the views and donors of the leadership in the Democrat Party. I'm listing some pieces of the bill that were from an article I'll link to. I've added comments as to who likely influenced the item or who it is there to please.

As always in politics, follow the money:

- $50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts - Any number of liberal social causes & Hollywood in general
- $380 million in the Senate bill for the Women, Infants and Children program - League of Women Voters, National Organization of Women
- $300 million for grants to combat violence against women - League of Women Voters, National Organization of Women, NARAL
- $2 billion for federal child-care block grants - Single Mothers
- $6 billion for university building projects - University Presidents (ie Obama's friends from Harvard)
- $15 billion for boosting Pell Grant college scholarships - Same as above & parents with kids in school
- $4 billion for job-training programs, including $1.2 billion for âyouthsâ up to the age of 24 - ACORN, NAACP, various other community groups
- $1 billion for community-development block grants - ACORN
- $4.2 billion for âneighborhood stabilization activitiesâ - ACORN
- $650 million for digital-TV coupons; $90 million to educate âvulnerable populationsâ - anyone who doesn't have cable or Satellite and thinks Television is some kind of federal entitlement

- $15 billion for business-loss carry-backs - poor democrat attempt at making it look like they're helping businesses
- $145 billion for âMaking Work Payâ tax credits - essentially a welfare payment to people who work, but don't pay income taxes
- $83 billion for the earned income credit - Low income people who do pay income taxes

All of the following boil down to global warming alarmist groups and government insiders grabbing what they can
- $150 million for the Smithsonian
- $34 million to renovate the Department of Commerce headquarters
- $500 million for improvement projects for National Institutes of Health facilities
- $44 million for repairs to Department of Agriculture headquarters
- $350 million for Agriculture Department computers
- $88 million to help move the Public Health Service into a new building
- $448 million for constructing a new Homeland Security Department headquarters
- $600 million to convert the federal auto fleet to hybrids
- $450 million for NASA (carve-out for âclimate-research missionsâ)
- $600 million for NOAA (carve-out for âclimate modelingâ)
- $1 billion for the Census Bureau - So that Obama can pinpoint his campaign efforts in 2012

$89 billion for Medicaid - senior citizens
$30 billion for COBRA insurance extension - unemployed
$36 billion for expanded unemployment benefits - unemployed
$20 billion for food stamps - welfare recipients - essentially removing caps created by the Personal Responsibility Act of 1996

Specifically designated pork projects:
- $4.5 billion for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
- $850 million for Amtrak
- $87 million for a polar icebreaking ship
- $1.7 billion for the National Park System
- $55 million for Historic Preservation Fund
- $7.6 billion for ârural community advancement programsâ
- $150 million for agricultural-commodity purchases
- $150 million for âproducers of livestock, honeybees, and farm-raised fishâ

More environmentalist pork to keep the global warming alarmists happy:
- $2 billion for renewable-energy research ($400 million for global-warming research)
- $2 billion for a âclean coalâ power plant in Illinois
- $6.2 billion for the Weatherization Assistance Program
- $3.5 billion for energy-efficiency and conservation block grants
- $3.4 billion for the State Energy Program
- $200 million for state and local electric-transport projects
- $300 million for energy-efficient-appliance rebate programs
- $400 million for hybrid cars for state and local governments
- $1 billion for the manufacturing of advanced batteries
- $1.5 billion for green-technology loan guarantees
- $8 billion for innovative-technology loan-guarantee program
- $2.4 billion for carbon-capture demonstration projects
- $4.5 billion for electricity grid

Bailing out states' irresponsible spending
- $79 billion for State Fiscal Stabilization Fund

Beyond these are the typical Democrat supporters like the trade unions and teacher's unions, and George Soros (who contributes so much to the party that he pretty much owns it).

Even worse, it essentially eliminates the caps on welfare money states receive that were enacted as part of the Welfare Reform bill of 1996. After the bill was passed and signed by Bill Clinton in 1996, states were not allocated more than a certain amount of money for their welfare roles. The reform created an incentive for the states to reduce the welfare roles by requiring people to find work. It also removed the incentive to just have more kids to get more money.

This bill removes the cap on money allocated to states. It will promote the kind of social decay that inner cities have suffered from for decades. However, it will "stimulate" a new generation of dependents on the government and a new generation of voters for the Democrat Party.

Why do some women have kids just to dump them in daycare?

Now that I have your attention, I have a legit question. Why do people have children just to dump the child off in school once they turn 5 years old? We have these people making judgements about daycare, yet isn't school the same thing? Kids are in school for about the same amount of time. Just think we they get older and are involved in sports/band/choir/etc. How terrible that these children can't spend every second of everyday with their parents.
(note the sarcasm)
Kimberly, see where Isaid note the sarcasm?//I posted this because Ise daycae-bashing question every day. MY ids aren't in daycare but I know parents who have to put their kids in daycare. I've seen people say on here "Oh, those poor childrne have to be away from mommy 8 hours out of the day." Now remind me how many hours a child is in school? Isn't it 7 or 8. Then when they start with sports and then an after school job when they turn 15 or 16, that's even less time with mommy and daddy. Why don't these same people complain about this even though not sending your kid to school is illegal?

Answer
Like Ellie said, thank goodness you were being sarcastic, cause I was very tempted to give you a tongue lashing too! :)

I don't understand why either group, (the SAHM's or the working moms), feel it necessary to insult and put down others for the choice they have made. The comment that people have made, "Why have kids if you are going to have daycares raise the?" is just really rediculous! So basically, without just outright saying it, these people are saying that unless someone is financially able to stay at home with their children and not use a daycare or a private babysitter, then they don't deserve to be a parent. That is very judgemental and just plain hateful. Not every woman has the luxery of falling in love and marrying a man who makes $35-60,000 a year. I married one who only makes about $25,000 and brings home alot less after he pays child support on his children from his ex-wife and insurance premiums on all the kids. I don't think the fact that I didn't marry someone who made alot of money, means that I dont deserve to have children.

What about a woman who is widowed? My best friend was widowed with 2 young children, and had no choice but to work to support her kids. So I guess according to some of these women, she didn't deserve to have the kids, because she ended up having to put them in daycare. Point is, no woman, even these ones that are so freely judgeing working moms, know how their life will turn out and what might happen to them.

I don't know any woman who enjoys dropping her kids off at a daycare in the mornings, I certainly don't. But my husband and I live in an older house, and have had alot of things break, like our hot water heater, pipes, leaking roof. We have not had the money to repair these things outright, so we have had to charge them on a credit card. The motor on my car blew up and it cost over $2,000 to fix it, so again that went on the credit card. I was a SAHM for 18 months, and any unexpected large expense that came up, went on that cerdit card. So, I will be trying to pay all that off for years now. But it was either do that, or go without hot water, or no water, or have no vehicle. Which would have ended up hurting my kids more than me. So I did go back to work, and I do have to take my daughter to a babysitter during the day.

I do not live an extravagant life. I don't go shopping every month, I don't have a Coach purse, we don't have 4 wheelers or motor bikes, we don't go on vacations, we don't eat out every week, I don't buy new clothes for myself on even a monthly basis. If I have an extra money, from working over time or getting a bonus at work, I spend it on my husband or kids, not on myself. I took some extra money I had about 4 years ago, and bought my husband one of those $65.00 do-it-yourself outdoor pond kits, and some cheap 25 cent goldfish to go in it, and helped him make it, for fathers day, and I have had women on here tell me that was an expensive, frivolus expense and that is probably the reason I have to work, cause I am wasting money. I never knew buying my husband a fathers day gift would be considered "wasting money"!

If a mom chooses to work, because she does not want to stay at home at her childrens expense, then I don't think that makes her selfish at all. In fact I think it makes her a loving, wonderful mom. If choosing to stay at home, means that you and your husband have to stretch and skrimp so much with his paycheck, that you find yourself telling your kids "No, you can't have that, we can't afford it." or not taking them out to eat or to the movies occasionally (cause you have to pay the electric bill), not being able to buy them new clothes or toys occasionally (and I don't mean the cheap $2.00 toys at the Dollar Store that fall apart within 3 days) or you just simply have no extra money for "extras", then I do think that the mom staying at home ends up affecting the kids in a not so good way. Sure, they have mommy at home with them all the time, but if they never get the "little extras" that I know most kids would like to have and enjoy, then I think to alot of kids that is not worth it. I have seen stay at home moms, who have to skrimp and save so much that they can't even buy their kid Christmas presents or a Halloween costume. So, how is that fair to the kid?

I realize that not all daycares are great, but their are alot of women who do daycare out of their home. I found a wonderful older lady who watches kids out of her home. She is very inexpensive compaired to daycares, and my daughter learns alot from this woman. At only 2 she was talking as good as a 3 year old, was counting to 20 and could say spanish numbers too. This woman treats my daughter like she is her grandchild, and I never have to worry that she isn't getting wonderful care while I am at work. I don't go out with the girls after work or go shopping when I get off. I immediatly go get my daughter from this woman. I spend every single waking minute away from work with my kids. I do not go out, nor do I ever leave them with a sitter other than the hours I am at work. So I try to make the most of the time I am home with them.

You made a great comparrison, regardless of what others have told you. The moms who think it is better to be a stay at home mom when their kids are young, and who want to judge and insult the moms who use daycare, should homeschool their kids, if they truely feel being at home with them is better.

Is it worth the extra money to stay inside Disney World?

We're trying to decide whether it's worth the extra money to stay in a Disney "Hotel" (specifically the Fort Wilderness Cabins) versus a nearby non-Disney hotel outside the park. From what I can tell, the Disney hotel seems to be about twice as expensive ($300 a night for the family versus $150 for the non-Disney location). Q. I haven't yelled at my kids in a long time. The last time I yelled it was to keep my toddler from driving his match-box car into an electric outlet...(and it hurt his feelings, he cried)
And... my parents yelled at me a lot, but I can't remember at all how it made me feel.
So, I was wondering how kids feel when parents, grandparents, teachers, whatever adult in charge - when they get yelled at.
anybody know? or remember how it felt to them? or just theories on how you think they may feel?

Answer
i am almost 17, and i really never get yelled at; i dont do things to get yelled at for.. haha. but when i do, i feel hopeless, almost, because regardless of who your parents are, you feel like you can't fight back.

for example, if you get yelled at for sneaking out; they are so mad and you are so upset that you feel like you can't present your argument without getting in more trouble.. so you give up.

I want to get my husband a radio controlled car or truck for his birthday. I want to get one that is good quality and wont break easily. I would prefer one made in the USA but I know it will probably be hard to find one, so that really isn't necessary. What do you suggest? I am willing to spend up to $150 on it

Answer
You are a good wife! My wife hates my RC obsession! LOL! Honestly, if you want to get him a good one it will cost a little bit more than $150. You want to be able to get replacement parts for it when it breaks, and it will break. There is no stopping that. Some of the top RC brands on the market today are Traxxas (my personal favorite), HPI, Assocaited, Losi, Tamiya and Kyosho. A great place to purchase one online is www.towerhobbies.com. There are coupon codes on the home page you can enter at checkout to get an extra $30 off the price too. If this is his first RC, I would suggest this one: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXZDB3RR&P=ML This Slash is a perfect beginner RC and VERY popular right now. If you are willing to spend a little more, I would get him this one: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXYNB0**&P=ML. This is basically the same thing as the first one, just that it's 4x4 and the first one is 2 wheel drive.
If you notice, you will see a yellow and black icon near the top of the picture that says Easy Pay. This allows you to make 3 monthly payments so you are not putting one large amount on your credit card at once. Makes it nice to be able to pay it off in 3 months, and it still ships the day/next day you order it.
There are a lot of things to consider when buying a RC. Both I suggested are electric. There are nitro RCs as well and those tend to be a little more expensive. It all depends on what he would like. There are on road cars, monster trucks, etc. I suggested the first one because it's probably the cheapest and high quality RC you are going to find. These things can run up to $1000 or more. But worth every penny! Either way, I'm sure he will enjoy it! Hope this helps!

What is the best Nitro RC car for someone just getting into the hobby?

Q. I'm looking for an Off road type of Nitro car. Needs to be easy to get started with. Friend of mine bought a Savage X he is having a ton of trouble with parts breaking and starting the car even when he put 8 tanks through it breaking it in he cant even get it to run more then a few minutes if he is lucky before it stalls out on him. Is there something out there that is easier straight out of the box that is a Nitro car?
Thanks for the input. Yes I have looked on-line and been to stores but I need some personal experiences to which in your opinion is a good starter nitro RC truck. Most of the stores I have been to will just about throw anything at you to make a sale so I am sick of those guys, and online all you can do is read discriptions. Have any of you found that a certain car was a lot easier to break in and get running than most? I am thinking of going to electric since they are hell of a lot easier to get running but I really would like to go with a nitro.

Answer
the Tower Hobbies TOWER nitro st w/.15 rebuilt is a good starter but if you went with the electric Traxxas rustler XL-5 it would last longer with hardly any tuning and it's 9mph slower than the savage but it has better handling and is less fragile

P.S. both trucks cost the same in the end

How to get mom off of wanting to get a bmw?

DA CHAN MA

Ok well let me tell you guys something. Im 16 and fu#king hate bmws and other luxury cars. Don't get me wrong here there beautiful cars but now some if there modern engineering if full of junk and there really expensive. Mom is telling me she wants a 2013 bmw x5, I keep telling her there full of crap and its going to cost you a lot of money. If u know scottykilmer on youtube he talked about there plastic electric water pump and luxury car parts can be very expensive and hard to fine at the auto parts store. I told her all of that and she still didn't give a crap. Mom is seriously pissing me of lately and she is one of those "woman" that like to spend. Right now when it comes to maintenance on her car its me and dad trying to do all the repairs to save money. Im trying to get her to look into honda or like the new ford escape ecoboost that is such a gas saver compared to the pos bmw suv that uses just as much as a modern v8 truck, no its actually even more! Because it uses premium gas! Now shes telling me she works hard enough to get what ever she wants and I shouldn't be telling her what to do. well shes sort of wrong, she makes my dad pay for most of the stuff and better yet she would probably let my dad help her pay for the bmw and gas. My dad is a money saver and were not rich, but when it comes to mom choices he can't really say anything or ill be arguments and problems. He trys to keep away from that and he even made his own secret bank account for "emergency" money in case we need it but mom is just using the money off her pay check and just spending it all the time and don't know what saving is. I already told her if she gets that bmw I ain't doing don't work on it and she can take it to the dealership to get it done. Heck I might might not even wanting to fix the tire if it was flat too. Me im sticking to the hondas and toyotas I love working on the simple cars like this. I need help on the negatives to changer her mind off of bmw. Me and dad are not done.

Answer
Lets look at the facts, yes modern cars are full of plastics, but the reality is, BMW is the best luxury car and the most reliable. Mercedes is good, but not as luxurious as the BMW. I own a 2010 Audi S4, and it good but started having trouble with it lately so im selling it, and in the mean time im driving my old 2000 740i, its reliable, and the insurance cost on it is laughable. BMW is good, BETTER than that garbage so called Toyota! Toyota is shit, real shit. Buying Toyota is like taking 20k and setting it on fire! Honda and Nissans are good, but they dont ride as good as any German car, listen to your mom, go test any BMW and you will see the HUGE difference between BMW and that shit so-called Toyota.
I still own my 14 years old 740i (Produced in 1999) because the insurance on it is cheap, and its a big and comfortable car. And after i owned it, i discovered that the insurance on it keeps going down and since the day i bought it almost 7 years ago, I only replaced the brakes, which were the original! And stuff like Fluids, tires blah blah. maintenance stuff.

Answer
The first thing you need to do is hit your knees and turn your will and your life over to God, as you understand Him. It worked for me eighteen and a half years ago.

You see, I was down and out, deep into alcoholism and addiction and I couldn't see a way out. It was dark. I had a job, but lost it and I had four kids, a wife and I was dead broke after getting out of a 30 day in-patient treatment center.

I hit my knees, which I had done before, but this time was different. I let go of the reservation that somehow I was going to be able to control the situation myself. I guess I had considered myself unique, really, more like "terminally unique", as I was killing myself and the guilt, shame and disappointment of my actions weren't helping matters either.

What was I to do? It was horrible, but I remembered what I was told, "You're Worth It", "Never Give Up", "This Too Shall Pass" and "Happiness is a Product of Forgiveness" and this starts with yourself.

So I hit my knees and I prayed like I never prayed before, asking for help, for courage, for direction and for forgiveness and I swear to you, the most amazing thing happened. The next day, I went back to the job I thought I had lost, they gave me my job back and they handed me a $1000 check that came in, some bonus check that just showed up out of nowhere.

Talk about divine intervention - I was floored, I mean just amazed, incredibly grateful and was a true believer from that point forward.

The fact is, my life has improved (and mind you, I've had many ups and downs since then), but I've stayed clean and sober since that day I hit my knees.

When I look back on the very worst times where I had nothing in the cupboards and my kids, wife and I were painting addresses on curbs to make ends meet, it seems like just a ripple in the pond and the worst times truly did pass.

I learned you can't be in faith and fear at the same time, and worry, unfortunately is the only thing that if you guess right, it is only worse.

If you have family or friends, I would reach out to them. Also, in your area, there is likely some programs that could help you (some utility companies even have subsidy programs for situations like yours).

Maybe you could sell some of your belongings on Craigslist to muster up some money? Maybe the extra car you might not need or ??

By the way, my new bride is disabled and was denied multiple times for disability before we met, but she finally got it, so don't give up. It sounds like you have a situation that warrants it.

The biggest thing you can do for yourself, besides hitting your knees is to change your mindset into one that attracts what you want - it's called the law of attraction and since you have an Internet connection still, I'd recommend you watch a movie (you can find it on You Tube - just search The Secret Movie). Watch it tonight - it's called "The Secret" and it will inspire you and help you, I promise.

Trust me on this and don't ever, ever give up - Don't mistake "temporary for permanent" and never ever forget, "You're Worth It!"

I hope this has been helpful in some way. May God Bless You and Keep You Safe.

Is Obama crazy or is he BSing the people again with this electric car BS?

Q. Government Motors has come up with yet another boondoggle as big as the Obama stimulus. The Volt is the most ridiculous folly I have ever heard of. How many people in today or tomorrows economy can afford a 45,000$ car with a battery in it that cost 10,000$. It wont be like well my battery is no good got to go to Wal Mart and spend 40.00. They have got to be kidding me probably Bill Gates will have one or Steve Jobs but I dont see any ordinary people with good sense buying this boondoggle. You can buy a lot of gas for the 10000$ cost of a battery. This sounds like another Chevrolet Vega to me.

Answer
The Volt is not an Electric Car. It is a sometimes series hybrid that cannot even charge its batteries with the engine. http://www.insideline.com/chevrolet/volt/2011/no-revolting-the-volt-chevy-battery-does-not-recharge-while-driving.html

It is based on the same technology that GM used in its Electro-motive division from 1930 to 2005 to build diesel/electric locomotive engines.

Answer
I just wrote you a long answer and lost it . Yes, he is going to kill you if you let him. You are in a domestic violence situation. You are in grave danger.
You need to take this question to the police and let them help you.
You can call a domestic violence shelter, womens shelter and let them help you.
You must NOT under ANY circimstances let him know that you are even thinking about leaving him.
You must plan this quietly and quickly and let the police help you get out.
It is when you try to leave he would likely try to kill you or the children.
he is very mentally ill, you are not safe. Most women are murdered when they try to leave.
Take action asap, and do NOT let him know what you are doing.
Take your money, pack a bag, take what you need and your legal papers, and let the police help you get out.
take this quiz. mosaicmethod.com if you have any doubts left.
Here is a hot line for this 1800799safe
You are confused because of the violence. It does that. You will clear up the longer you are away from him. Do not let him know where you are, or where you are going. He will kill you .
Start planning and contact the police without him knowing.
Do that now. Create a Happy New Year for you and your children. They need you.
You all deserve better than this, and believe me your children are already injured and learning the wrong things and will need help. Write this down and look it up when you are safe and ready for a healing method that will help you and your children to heal. emofree.com
best wishes

If i CRASH my CAR in a VACUUM would there be MORE DAMAGE?

jason D.C

coz no sound energy?

ima helping to write a childrens science book >.<
oh i was wondering if this would be suitable for a year 7 book.

probably not, just wondering

ima not writing, just editing it

Answer
Yes, there would be marginally more damage for a couple of reasons.

Assuming you tried to brake just before impact, the lack of air resistance would mean that the cars would be going a little faster right at the impact since you would only be relying on mechanical grip to slow the car down.

The sound of a crash is energy being dissipated. If there is air and therefore no sound, then this energy is instead dissipated by bending more metal.

Both of these are small effects and you and you're insurance company wouldn't notice it.

Of course this all assumes you have an electric car, or the Apollo moon rover because your standard internal combustion engine wouldn't be running.

Pay close attention to the lyrics of this song:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQB83__ONuo

But here are my observations:

1. I drive a specially modified 1996 minivan which is equipped with a motorized ramp for loading and unloading an electric wheelchair. The van is beaten up and torn up on the inside. Meanwhile, handicapped parking spaces are often occupied by brand-new Hummers, Lexus (spaceships-with-wheels) LS400's, Corvettes, or Jags. Why do most handicapped drivers own the newest (and most expensive) cars in the parking lots?

2. Memorial Herman Hospitals are torn down and rebuilt about once every two years, often incorporating elaborate (expensive) and eye-catching architectural structures, as well as fancy furnishings. If the Health-care industry is strapped for profits, how is it that hospitals can afford to do this perpetually?

3. Electric wheelchair makers and must take their customers through extensive security protocols in order to prevent fraudulent claims against Medicare. Why make things tougher for the actual customers instead of prosecuting the actual criminals so that the bureaucracy can spend money on its recipients instead of fighting losses with greater costs?

4. Members of Congress never have to shop around for new Health Insurance every two years like we voters have to shop around for new policies because our employers are looking to reduce costs without regard to decreasing levels of service. Now, our Government wants to fine its constituents for not having Healthcare coverage?

5. The Health Insurance industry has been a market for funding investment brokers with less regard for its intended customers, even to the point of regarding them with contempt. Is this perspective missing from the solutions being presented in Obama's efforts?

Did Edgar Winter know something that should be beaten into our Government repsentatives?

Answer
All over the country, I'm seeing the same
Nobody's winning, at this kind of game
We gotta do better, it's time to begin
You know all the answers
Must come from within

1. I agree with this, and to me when I see someone who has handicap and they have no visible sign (i.e. wheelchair, oxygen tank) I wonder why they would take a handicapped space. Especially when they can get out and dart faster then I can with my kids.

2. Agree, I also feel that hospital such as these hold monopolies and drive other smaller facilities out, or end up buying them up, slowly. Giving no choice to the consumer on the quality of there care.

3. Having a illness or lifetime alignment is like being sentenced to being guilty, there is always more paperwork. In proof there of, and prescription coverage.

I am a Type 1 diabetic, have had diabetes since I was a kid, I am thin, and do all that I can to keep healthy. None of my medication or health care costs are tax deductible like most, because I'm lumped together with type 2 diabetics, and the government looks at there illness as an overweight issue. A lifestyle choice. Keep in mind that Type 1 (not onset by Type 2) is an Auto Immune Disorder, so it is no fault, I guess I should blame my parents for bad genetics.

4. I couldn't believe it either.

5. Insurances company's are more then happy to reel in your monthly premium till you you all a sudden have a problem, then they overload you with having to make appeals, and count on time working against you.

Thanks

How can I live a more environmentally conscious life?

Q. I am learning more about global warming and the impact a family of four has on this earth versus 250 people in an undeveloped nation. Things like this really make me want to get more involved and lessen my footprint on the earth, but how? Where do I start? I want to vote for the right laws to help this but I don't understand them all. I can't afford an electric car or to start using a solar panel for energy, so how can I help?

Answer
The four corner stones of the current environmental movement are Reduce, Recycle, Re-use, and Re-purpose with a theme of Sustainability. The good news is that most of us have plenty of eco-friendly opportunities available to us with equally commiserate financial rewards. In some cases, it does take an investment of time or money before the savings can be realised.

I often suggest that people start scouring the "frugal living" sites and boards for as whole host of money saving ideas. Money is but one resource we use. What we spend our money on involves a whole host of additional resources. Saving resources is what the Reduce, Re-use, and Re-purposing cornerstones are all about. For a personal inventory of opportunity, start by peering into your garbage, recycle, and waste cans and bins. Do you see paper napkins, paper towels, disposable wipes, or individual serving containers in your waste stream? What types of chemical based items do you see in terms of cleaning, garden, and other non-food items? Start with those things that are easy to remedy even if they are a small, over all portion of your waste stream.

Another area to take a personal inventory from is your budgeting system, check book, credit card receipts, cash receipts, bills, etc... These also tell you what you spend your money on, buy, and consume. You may want to address utility bills and/or the resources used that generate those bills. This could be things like using less electricity or water, using less vehicle fuel through combined trips, and so on. Or you could discover that maybe off-road racing could be replaced by pedle bike racing for both an economic and an environmental savings. Some people take up visiting their local library more often for both an economic and environmental savings.

Reviewing one's spending habits also brings up the idea of doing more active purchasing decision making which can also reduce certain types of consumption and hence resource use. Doing things like taking an closet inventory before hitting the mall can help one realise that what they really need is a coordinating piece to something they already own versus a whole new outfit. Developing honest needs criteria and purchasing decisions on tools, equipment, and supplies for either the home or garage; you can add additional environmentally conscious criteria such as durability as you choose too.

For many, minimalist living is not particularly functional for most of us trying to also be environmentally conscious. You may see the need for better window treatments, different landscaping, or some just plain caulk even if you are "only a renter". Cloth linens like napkins, towels, and scrub rags may be an investment opportunity for both financial and enviornmental returns. Individual glass serving containers, a stainless water bottle, and so on may work for you. To be able to honestly Re-use and Re-purpose, most of us need some tools of the trade, to learn some skills, and be able to think outside of the box within the Do-It-Yourself (DYI) frame of mind too.

Start small and with the easy stuff; what may be easy for you is not necessarily going to be easy for me. It's a whole life style change with a number of economic and health benefits that simply happen in the process. And, the opportunities simply keep on coming in easier and easier modes as the rest of the community comes on board.

Has anyone bought an electric car from YZdawn, China? If so, what is the quality like?

ashali_bm

I want to buy one of these cars but cannot find any review about their products. They say that they sell to Europe, the US and other countries. I would like an independant opinion before I commit to buy.

Answer
Well, here is the electric car they have that is DOT certified (certified for US roads):
*

*
My guess is that they are trying to make a deal with a US partner to import them here. That could take a while.
