Why is it that only low quality fat or trashy white girls only date black guys?

Duke

And these stupid black dudes think we jealous were laughing at you, we arent jealous at all. White people > Black people. Only thing you have above us is basketball and football and thats it. But sports does not contribute to mankind so sports do not count. blacks have invented nothing useful and never even had a advanced society in their history. South Africa was basically modernized by white people.

Those are only some of the things black people have invented. Those don't seem useful to you? They have advanced our society tremendously. Only ignorant people like you bring it back. The lack of intelligence you possess is really dis-concerting.

Q. Ok so i did take some underwear from walmart for my kid i lost my job and had no money and juat had a bad car wreck and broke my leg in half and fractured my neck so i was in a electric buggy. NOT THE BEST CHOICE i have made but my daughter needed some. I know i wasnt on camera doing it but a security guard said he saw me which i know he didnt ...i live in a upscale town (MOUNT JULIET, TN) and i am a lesbian with tattoos so i know i was being profiled. Let's tell the oil companies to go frack themselves?

Q. Pretty soon batteries will be sophisticated enough that electric cars will surpass internal combustion engines. I'm sick of global warming being ignored by republicans who would rather stick their heads in the sand and scream loudly to drown out the voices of 97% of the scientific community. I say we confiscate all the SUVs and smash them to a pulp. Fat ass stupid americans dont need a ford superduty mega-explorer to drive their kids to walmart. A normal compact car would work just fine. It's time to throw the president of BP in prison and end offshore drilling. FUCK YOU OIL COMPANIES YOU DONT CONTROL US!!

Answer
Here's how to do it. There are some awesome lease deals on Chevy Volts right now. This page below is from my dealer:
*
http://www.imakenews.com/lesstanford/e_article002482415.cfm?x=bllVbcD,bqMrGfRW
*
It's a Volt lease for just $139 per month. To put that in perspective, take a look at your monthly gasoline bill. Most people typically spend around $200 per month on gasoline. The same average monthly mileage driving on electricity typically costs less than $50.
*
This means most people could pay for the above Volt lease, and the electricity to drive it - entirely from fuel savings. Just like a free car!

When will the first all electric car hit US market ?

apm2006

Answer
The first commercial application of an electric car came in 1897 when the Electric Carriage & Wagon Company of Philadelphia built a fleet of New York taxis.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_electric_vehicle

More recently, GM leased the EV1 before discontinuing and destroying them.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ev1

There are currently several low-speed short-distance EVs available, the best being the ZAP Xebra:

http://www.zapworld.com/electric-vehicles/electric-cars/xebra-sedan

There is also the high-speed long-distance Tesla Roadster currently available for $98,000.

http://www.teslamotors.com/

Available in California in October 2008, the Aptera typ-1e will cost about $27,000 with a top speed of 95 mph and range of 120 miles per charge.

http://www.aptera.com/details.php

Soon thereafter Aptera will introduce the typ-1h, a plug-in hybrid version of the typ-1e with a 40-60 mile range on purely electrical energy, and a range of over 600 miles total when in electric/gas hybrid mode, for around $30,000. On a 120 mile trip, the typ-1h will get 300 miles per gallon. The shorter the trip, the higher the efficiency.

http://www.aptera.com/details.php

Available in late 2008 or early 2009, the ZAP Alias will cost $30,000, have a top speed of 100 mph, and a range of 100 miles per charge.

http://zapworld.com/electric-vehicles/electric-cars/zap-alias

Soon thereafter the ZAP-X will be available at a cost of $60,000 with a top speed of 155 mph and a range of 350 miles per charge.

http://zapworld.com/electric-vehicles/electric-cars/zap-x

Available in late 2008 or early 2009, the Miles Javlon will cost $30,000 with a top speed of 80 mph and a range of 120 miles per charge.

http://www.milesev.com/

Phoenix Motorcars will start selling their SUT to individuals in late 2008 or early 2009. It will cost $45,000 and have a top speed of 100 mph with a range of 100+ miles per charge.

Why was the electric car killed?

Q. Who killed it?

Answer
The electric car isn't dead - we just can't wait for the big companies to make them - they don't want to. There are affordable electric vehicles, it's just that most of us don't know about them. Check this out:
*
http://www.squidoo.com/cheap-electric-car/
*
An electric conversion car can be had for as little as $5000, it looks like a normal car, and it does freeway speeds. But what if you want something a little better?
*
The fully practical electric car is finally arriving, thanks to new battery research. Look at this car below - it gets up to 250 miles per charge, holds 5 passengers plus cargo, does 95mph, and can be charged in as little as TEN MINUTES. Yes, it's a real car, it can be pre-ordered right now for delivery THIS YEAR:
*
http://phoenixmotorcars.com/models/fleet.html
*
It's not perfect because it's too expensive (about $45000). But all it takes is for people to start buying them, for the price to come down. Remember when DVD players cost $1000? Some people had to be willing to buy them at that price so that we can have $50 DVD players today.
*
Besides, your operating costs for an EV are far, far lower than a comparable gas vehicle, due to the increased efficiency of electric drive. I know this is true because I drive an EV.
*
I can prove this. About how much does gasoline cost per mile? It varies of course, but it's somewhere around 10 to 15 cents per mile. How much does it cost to drive electric? The Toyota RAV4 EV gets 4 miles per kilowatt-hour. Off-peak (nighttime) electricity costs about 3 to 10 cents per kilowatt-hour, depending where you live. This means driving electric only costs about a penny per mile - MUCH cheaper than gasoline.
*
Why is this so? Fuel is burned wth up to 85% efficiency at power plants, and an electric motor is 95% efficient. In your typical car, gasoline is burned with less than 25% efficiency. Also, distributing electricity by wire to electric cars is 95% efficient, which is far less wasteful than trucking gasoline around the country.
*
Increased efficiency means less costly fuel - and it also means far less pollution, regardless of what is burned at power plants.

Traveling for spring break on the East Coast (March '07), need to know American History places I should visit.

Q. I would like to make this educational (American History) for my 4 kids as well as fun and still see the "must see" items that we are near; the kids are 16, 13, 9, and 4. We are going to fly from Utah to S. Carolina (we have family in York we need to visit) and travel up the coast in a rental car. We are planning to stop in DC, Philly, and New York but we've never been there and don't know how much time to plan. If it was just me I think I could spend the whole week in DC visiting museums but the kids would get bored with that. I heard a couple of hours in Philly to catch the independance hall and liberty bell and a half day in New York for the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and then a drive through the city since we are there. Can anyone offer any more suggestions. Is Boston worth going to? Again, I am looking for American History while not boring the kids and any other great site that is close. We only have 5 days. Weather and any "must eat" places recommendations also.

Answer
I will assume that you will be flying into and out of Charlotte I am going to give you some creative routings but promise you that I personally have driven all the roads I'm sending you down
Be aware of the fact that heavy snow falls can and often do occur in the first two or three weeks of march. The reason is that the tropics are warming up and the warm wet low coming up from the tropics collides with a still very cold high pressure canadian air mass and the result is of course snow, wet heavy snow at that. Check the weather and carry warm clothes
Begin your trip at the end , in this case Appomattox Va allow 5 hrs to get there and approx 1.5 hrs there
find US 29 out of Lynchburg and take that north to Charlottesville VA. Thomas Jeffersons house is the general idea and is located about 1.5 hrs from Appomattox . The visit to Monticello is by guided tour only and there is a tendency of the tour operators to rush you through the house so that the next tour can come in . You can however stroll the grounds at your leisure , visit slave row and TJ's grave. There is also the cost of $13.00 to consider [ that price allows them to give a two dollar bill as part of the change- I am serious]
Madison and Monroe lived close to Jefferson and on the other side of the mountain is Stanton Va , Woodrow Wilsons birth place and one of the of the great antebellum towns in America.
I am trying to get you to Frederick MD [ which has cheaper and more avalable hotels] via Skyline Drive /Front Royal/ Harpers Ferry WV
Harpers Ferry is worth the visit and in the area of Harpers Ferry and Frederick MD is bloody Antietam Battlefield
Day 2 will be devoted to Gettysburg and getting to NYC- sort of
It's a little over an hour from Frederick to Gettysburg allow at least 3 hours to tour the battlefield and let your kids climb the rocks at Big and Little Round Tops and Devils Den. Start your trip at the visitors center and take the time to view the electric map
It's 140 miles from Gettysburg to Philly via US 30/ 202/ I-76 and when you get in the area of King of Prussia - 202 and I -76 you will also be very close to Valley Forge just a thought
if you can leave Gettysburg by noon you can actually make beautiful downtown philadelphia in time to take in Independence hall
Check with The National Park Service for what time the attractions on the mall actually close
Day 2 should end with you spending the night within 40 miles of the Staten Island Ferry dock.
but not in Jersey City , Elizabeth or Newark NJ Perth Amboy is sort of OK. Since it's off season something down on the Jersey shore isn't a bad idea like Freehold- Springsteens home town. [This means using I-95 North out of Philly which is just to the east of the mall.]Find a place you like and spend 2 nights
Day 3 is devoted to NYC
Somehow get onto Staten Island and follow signs for the Verrazano bridge
The last exit before the bridge-Bay street- will take you north to the Staten Island ferry dock- The parking lot is one of those self pay types so you may need to get a roll of quarters before you park you car.Yes i did say park your car.
Park the car by the ferry dock and take the free Staten Island Ferry to the lower end of manhattan aka South Ferry- you will spend the rest of your time in manhattan either walking or using subways both of which are faster , safer and cheaper and actually less confusing than than driving. Trust me on this one I'm a native and spent over 20 years driving commercial vehicles in manhattan and surrounding areas.
When you get off the SI Ferry ,the ferry taking you to the Statue of Lliberty and Ellis Island is a couple of hundred yards in front of you and to your left The ferry goes from manhattan to the statue to ellis and then straight back to manhattan. I think that given all the restrictions concerning actually getting into the statue I would simply look at it from the boat and continue on to ellis.
When you get back to manhattan directly across the park from the ferry dock is federal style buildingwhich is located at the foot of Broadway . It is the old US Customs house. Carefully cross the street .When you walk inside to the left and the right are two of the most beautiful spiral staircases you will ever see-[ you have to go through more security to get into the building.]Looking uptown from the stairs of the customs house you will be looking across Bowling Green- yes our founding fathers actually bowled on it and beyond that you will see the famous wall street bull
continuing up broadway a very short way and slightly north of wall st you will come to a red sandstone church -Trinity
if you make a downhill left just before you reach the church proper you wiil see that Alexander Hamilton and Robert Fulton are buried next to each other. If you go back out to wall st and walk past the stock exchange some creative navigation will take you over to Fraunces Tavern of G. Washington fame. Continuing to the East River will take you over to South st. Seaport
If continue up broadway from Trinity around 140 Bwy [ liberty st] you will see a large open space to north and left of where you are standing. Two great buildings and many people once occupied that space. Look back at the blackness of 140 Bwy and then turn your gaze to a spot in the sky above that awful hole that is twice the height of 140 Bwy.
At this point you have some decisions to make about where to spend the rest of the day.
If you take the # 1 train from Chambers st and get off at the christopher St stop , cross 7th ave and go about 100 yds east on Bleeker st you will come to one of the top 5 greatest pizza places in NYC - Johns- they sell only whole pies and give you the option of buying soft drinks by the pitcher. The pies bake in a coal fired brick oven and come out blistering hot bubbling The pizza so good. For the rest of your life pizza will never be the same
Go back to the subway take the 1 to 59th st
change to the local A train uptown and get off at the Museum of Natural History stop
tour the museum until it closes and walk west across 81st [ which is the north side of the museum] 2 blocks to broadway, cross bwy and you will see an orange and white awning in front of you, underneath that awning is one of the greatest food stores in america; Zabars
if you're a foodie at all Zabars is heaven.
It is perfectly acceptable, indeed expected to ask a counterperson for a taste of something prior to buying it
of note almond croissants, smoked fish, bagels, rustic breads , cheeses a great take out counter and jams, coffees and mustards.
buy some things for your DC road trip
upstairs is high quality hard to find and a bit pricey cooking equipment.
dinner is at cafe napoli or pelligrinos in little italy
Take the # 1 train[ 79 th st ] down town
to 42 nd st / Times square change to the # 7 train to grand central and take the# 6 train to canal st & lafayette sts. Walk 1 block east to mulberry st and then north a block or two until you find your restaurant. watch out for imported bottled fizzy waters they tend to be expensive and NYC tap water is excellent and when you are offered a chef's special get the price before ordering it. as a rule NYC portions are large and splitting entrees is OK.
When you are sitting on Mulberry st having dinner think about the pictures you saw in Ellis Island about what mulberry st used to look like.
the 5 points of Gangs of NY fame are located about 1/2 mile south of where you are sitting.
finish dinner do not order dessert .walk around the neighborhood looking at and buying souveniers. walk over to Ferraras and have dessert.
hail a cab going downtown to the ferry and then back to your motel
by now you guys should be wiped out
Day 4 -somewhere in NJ to DC
the trip to DC should take you around 4-5 hrs depending upon weather and traffic you will need a full day and a half to see DC
in addition to the usual DC things a visit to the national cathederal in georgetown can be inspiring [ Woodrow Wilson is the only President buried in DC city limits. His crypt is on the main floor ]
i wish you had the time to go over to hampton roads/ new port news and then drive down cape hatteras past kill devil hills [of the Wright broters first flight fame ]
taking the ferry across haterras inlet and the one from ocracoke to the mainland- really nice drive - on a par with the drive from kanab to torrey in terms of beauty.
be careful and remember cruise control is great for small town driving.
BTW get in touch with the MTA[Metropolitan Transportation Authority ] in NYC for subway maps and same day multi- trip ticket info

Can I use no trespassing signs?

Q. I'm renting a mobile home in a trailer park that is close to work, right now I don't have a car, i have a bike with a motor on it and I ride it every day and its very good on gas. I store it in my shed out back. The mobile home was empty for a year before I moved into it. And right now, although the mobile home is in perfect shape and the lawn is now taken care of. I store my bikes in the shed and all my blinds are always closed, so it looks like its abandoned. And I'm a full time worker and only home 2 times a week. I keep finding things moved around in my yard, and today I had off. I woke up with kids skate boarding in the driveway. I also seen weird people around standing in front of my mobile home. My mobile home does have a brake in history but when it was not lived in. I lock my doors at all times. My windows are also locked really good. I still don't want teen age kids in my driveway skate boarding and riding bikes around and kids drawing chock all over the place. I told these kids before not to skate board on my driveway and they do anyways when I'm at work, 1 day my mom stopped over and she parked her car in front because the kids were in the driveway when I was at work. The kids said what? nobody lives here and she told them to leave. They don't listen. Iv noticed somebody has tampered with my shed door and tried to brake it. My landlord works at the office at the trailer park. My landlords office is open after I get to work and when I get home. Its closed. Thursday when I pay my rent I was going to tell her I didn't put them there for her. I put them there to keep people off. Will this be ok anyways????

Answer
you put no trespassing sign and get a electric fence around your property . they would not dare go near it if you have electric fence. think about getting a dog would also help to scare kids away.

Did you hear Chevy has a new electric car called the spark?

Q.

Answer
Americans are still somewhat clueless when it comes to electric cars, but Chevy's strategy is to sell the all-electric Spark heavily into Europe and Asia.
*
The car will debut in 2013.
*
GM has to go down this road. First of all, adding all electric cars to it's lineup improves it's average fuel economy, needed in order to meet future mandated fuel-efficiency standards.
*
Secondly, if American companies don't make electric vehicles, Asian and European car companies will steal the entire market.
*
Japanese carmaker Nissan just demonstrated 10-minute recharging for their Leaf electric car. Over the next few years, the range of the car will increase, and the cost of the vehicle will slowly come down. 5-minute recharge has also been demonstrated, for electric buses.
*
Walgreen drugs recently announced they are installing EV fast-chargers for the Leaf at their stores. Other retailers are considering this, too. (Meijer, Best Buy, CostCo.)
*
Put these things together, and you can see why US carmakers have to compete. Gas cars could be obsolete in 10 years. If anything, the Detroit automakers are not responding fast enough to this threat.
*
PS. - to the poster pointing out that some electricity is made with dirty energy, the same amount of dirty energy is used to refine gasoline - about 6 KWH of energy for each gallon refined. So both kinds of cars use the same amounts of "upstream" energy. But the gas car burns large amounts of dirty "downstream" energy, while the EV doesn't burn any. This is why EVs are so much cleaner, and much more energy efficient (and much cheaper to fuel.)

2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid?

Q. The 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid, a hybrid is a car that, must be charged in order to accelerate right?
Is it only chargeable alone? Or is it, chargeable, and gas powered? Both? With the 2013 FFHybrid.

Also how do you charge the 2013 FFHybrid? Do we have to drive some where like a electric station
to charge it? Or can it be charged from home?
Try to answer all the Question Marks thanks.

Answer
Hi RoyalBoltz,

The 2013 Fusion Hybrid is powered by both an electric and a gasoline motor, however there is no charging required. The electric motor stores power regained from the regenerative braking system. The regenerative braking system captures energy otherwise lost as heat during vehicle braking, recovering over 90% of the brake energy and recharging the lithium-ion battery.

There's no need to charge the vehicle at an electric station or at home - the vehicle "charges" itself by storing the regained power.

The Fusion Energi is Ford's plug-in hybrid version of the Fusion. You can learn more about that particular model here: http://www.ford.com/cars/fusion/features/#page=Feature2

Have a great day!

South Africa was basically modernized by white people.

how long should you keep a electric car?

Iban

hi everyone i tend to buy a nissan car leaf and im wondering how long should i keep electric car before buying new one im buying cash new ty guys

Answer
There is not a great deal of experience with electric cars. Clearly operating costs will be less than a petrol car. Calculations suggest that savings from the cheaper operating costs of an EV are likely to exceed additional cost of the vehicle after about 4 to 5 years. .................//

A long life, trouble free vehicle will depend heavily on the use and maintenance. For maintenance costs there is far more experience with electric trolley buses vs diesel powered buses. The electric buses lasted between 2 and 10 times longer than their petrol counterparts. While there is no guarantee that this will hold true with the electric car or with any specific make, the electric vehicle drivetrain is far simpler and almost maintenance free. But even if the drivetrain could give 30 years of trouble free performance the rest of a car may not hold up so well. .................//

If you plan on keeping the vehicle for 7 to 10 years you may have to factor in the cost of a new battery. Probably the most accurate calculation would be to deduct the price of the battery from the initial cost of the vehicle and then amortize the battery cost over the miles driven as if the cost of a new battery was an operating cost. .................//

The largest unknown factor at this point is how well electric vehicles will maintain their value. At this time uncertainty will suggest lower resale values. If the maintenance free track record is proven and better batteries are easily adapted then resale values may rise and could rise substantially if supply is also constrained with some electric vehicles selling used for more than new vehicles. .................//

And so while it is a good question it has no clear answer.

Which countries now have full-electric car technology besides China and Japan?

Q. BYD e6 electric full-size SUV: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BYD_e6

Nissan LEAF compact electric car: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Leaf

* Chevrolet Volt is not full-electric besides it needs gasoline as fuel.

Answer
It depends upon what you mean by "full-electric car technology" and by asking "which countries"...

Electric cars are not a national phenomena. They are things. National policies can promote electric cars but to my knowledge no country has nationalized an electric car building company and is producing electric cars on their own. Corporations may give some a feeling of national pride or identity but many corporations are multi national and may hold allegiance to no country.

Countries and areas that promote electric cars with incentives are more likely to attract corporations that are making electric cars. Such companies are in some ways not very different than other corporations. If an area will provide certain grants, property, utilities, or tax incentives then companies are more likely to build a plant in that location. Having cheap labor and reasonable lines of supply are also a plus. Selling their products may require a different set of incentives to attract buyers.

A case in point may be "Better Place." http://www.betterplace.com/ This company does not make cars. They sell a battery swapping service. They have several international initial target locations including: Israel, Denmark, Australia and Hawaii, San Francisco and Canada. The nissan leaf was to be a part of their system and may be in the future. For now they are swapping batteries on the Renault Fluence ZE. http://www.betterplace.com/ By some measure this might be considered a "full-electric car technology," but to what country are you going to attribute this technology? Shai Agassi, the companies founder and CEO has lived in California and Israel.

The Tesla Roadster is an American company and a media success. It is now selling their cars internationally, but the actual number of vehicles sold is presently just over 1000.1 Their are many lessor known electric vehicle companies that may happily sell you a vehicle that is hardly a production run. For a full production run of a full electric vehicle (BEV: battery electric vehicle) that is fully highway capable in the US we are looking to the Nissan Leaf as a first. Zap vehicles have been built in China for years and sold by an American Company internationally as motorcycles but we might not necessarily put these in the same class as the Nissan Leaf. The same may be true of other of the ess expensive Chinese cars.

I would agree that the Volt is not a "full electric" vehicle, but it is more electric than the more parallel hybrid prius. From a purist point of view perhaps even a BEV is not a pure electric vehicle as it uses chemistry in the batteries. A pure electric might use ultracapacitors for storage or something like this: http://electric-vehicles-cars-bikes.blogspot.com/2009/08/korean-researchers-develop-electric.html

Is it possible to charge an electric car using solar power or static electricity?

These are just random thoughts I had. If anyone was inspired to make anything, please let me know and give me a slice of the profits. Thanks for your time.

Answer
There is a film out that you can see what cars like this (solar). It's about a teacher who inspires her students to build a solar car good enough to compete nationally in the United States and internationally in Australia.

How much does an electric car cost?

mobleez

How much does the average electric car cost?
How much does it cost to charge one?
Does it cost any extra to run and keep?
If anyone knows just how much a car costs to own (buying and keeping) that would be brill.
Thanks

Answer
How much does the average electric car cost?
There are limited options for buying an electric car from a major manufacturer at the moment (Jan 2013). Tesla Model S $50,000 and up, Nissan Leaf $34,000, Mitsubishi imeiv $29,000, Smart ED $25,000, and a couple others I forget about.

How much does it cost to charge one?
Since they're tiny, the smart car or the imev will consume about 250 watt hours per mile. So take your local utility rate to figure out the fuel cost. Example: 10¢ per 1000 watt hours (Kwh) means 10¢ will take you about 4 miles. 10¢ ÷ 4 miles = 0.025 (2¢) per mile. The larger tesla or the leaf will consume about 300whpm.

Does it cost any extra to run and keep?
No. Electric cars don't need belts, spark plugs, oil filters (or oil anyway), engine coolant, radiators, and a host of other maintenance hassles. The lithium batteries will need to be replaced every 10 years (ballpark).

If anyone knows just how much a car costs to own (buying and keeping) that would be brill.
An electric car costs about 1/7 that of a gas car for fuel (electricity vs gasoline) Also, an electric car costs â that of a gas car for upkeep and maintenance, even after battery replacement is considered. I'm not sure what you mean by "brill".

Did you hear Chevy has a new electric car called the spark?

Burning Pe

Why would someone cause so much trouble over this little thing?

Jake (AKA

I have an electric scooter, and I let my friend ride it. He took his little cousin for a ride on it, and in their journey, they rode through an alley behind where my Mom works. Well, a person was backing up, and they had to stop because he was passing by. Well, this person started to freak out, and started screaming at a nearby person, asking if they saw that. Well, this person said they did, and they said "that's Boo's son on his DANG scooter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" (people call Mom Boo.) Well, they started freaking out, and they called Mom to the lobby and started screaming at her to control me (even though it wasn't me). It was all Mom could do to keep them from calling the police! (They love to call the police. Once they even tried to call them because Mom drove the Blazer to work and I took it home like she asked.) They said that he was flying through the alley, and someone could've been killed! Well, Mom made me get the car and chase him down to confiscate the scooter, and she was mad. She started freaking out and yelling at my friend. Well, I know my scooter, and I know that alley. That scooter barely goes 15 mph on flat ground with one person. That alley is very rough, and there were two people on it. It was probably going no more than 10 mph and I doubt that it was even going that fast, as much as my friend cares about his cousin. I talked to him, and he said he wasn't going that fast. Also, the worst thing that could happen even if he was going that fast is a dent in the car and some minor scratches unless some freak thing happened. Everyone is still mad, and my and my friend are mad too- he's mad because everyone is overreacting and yelling at him, and I'm mad because they called my scooter "dang." Why is everyone making such a problem out of this simple event? The way I see it is that it's the car driver's fault since she should've been watching where she was going when backing out from a parking spot. I wonder if it was a car going through, would they call the cops? I don't see the problem. I already asked this in another section yesterday, but only got one answer so far.
Mom is equally as upset as the rest of them.
Andrew- Same friend, different scooter.
1. My scooter is street legal.
2. It's *my* Blazer, thank you.
3. I have a license.
And also, if a car is backing into traffic, the traffic has right of way. Anything else?

Answer
Because they did wrong and know it.
Because they could have seriously hurt or killed a couple of kids - and know it.
Because they can blame the kids - and know it.

What do I need to ride a moped in Arizona?

Roxas806

I am 15 years old and about 2 months (licence and permit still out of reach), I am looking for a simple alternative from walking and standard bikes in order to commute to friends' houses.

Do I still need a special license, a permit or just a normal license in order to operate a moped even if it is not on roads and highways, only within neighborhoods?

Also would I need to register anything? About how much money would I need to spend on additional fees?

Finally, Is a moped even what I am looking for? Is there something easier and cheaper that can accomplish the same tasks, just goes about 20-25 mph and is not like those electric things that only last 10 minutes on charge.

Answer
A driver's license at a minimum.
I suggest a bicycle.

No, I'm NOT kidding, bicycles go where others can't.
I rode one 20 miles to work when I was 18, before I earned enough for a car.
Average speed:13.33mph.

Flybo Electric Car under 10K!

marcy_mik

Does anyone have one of these cars? I want to know what you think of them. They have 2 seaters & 4 Seaters very cute. I found them on an Organic website for $8500. today.
http://www.NHallnatural.com

Answer
The Flybo is being imported as a NEV (neighborhood electric vehicle) sometimes called LEV (low speed electric vehicle). This means it has federally regulated top speed of 25 MPH in most states and 35 MPH in some. They can be driven on streets with a 10 MPH difference in the speed limit i.e. 35 MPH speed limit for the 25 MPH version.

The Flybo can not go on the freeway because it goes to slow and doesn't have the crash protection required. It will work fine for dropping the kid (only 2 seats) off at school, running to the store for groceries or a surface street commute to work. Or if your daughter has her license she can commute to school and you wont have to worry about her getting into vehicular trouble.

I konw someone who has an NEV. He uses it every day to commute 6 miles to work and back. For the one part of his trek that requires higher speed he just simply uses the surface street that runs parallel to the highway. It takes him an extra 5 minutes to get to work (but who's in a hurry anyway) and he has not put 1 gram of pollution into the atmosphere which is his goal. And even better it cost him less than 15 cents a day in "fuel" aka electricity.

For more information on NEV check out Miles Automotive, ZENN and GEM Car web sites.

How to fix broken mirror on my car?

rayne

Some kid backed into me and drove off, insurance says they wont fix it. my passenger mirror came off and is pretty broken, i was able to get away with using cement caulking for a few months but its time to fix it for real. its a 2005 pontiac grand am, electric window. i know i can replace the side mirror on my own but the metal lining on top and around the outside of the mirror popped off when the kid backed into it, anyone know how to fix this and where to find this lining? NOT the bottom lining by the window the metal and black thin lining on top and through the front sides of window.

Answer
If you are to repair it yourself, visit a car dealers "parts department". They will be able to tell you how the parts are installed and sold and costs. Then check ebay for these parts or order the parts via parts department

Would you buy South Africa's first electric car?

Ayiza

I would
The guy from optimal energy the company that designed the car said it will cost -/+ R200 000.00 (He was on radio 702)
So it will not be expensive like the Prius.
It will be brilliant for city commuting.

So what do you think?

Answer
We have a similar thing here in Canada - called the Zenn Car. I think it is a great solution to a lot of problems
1. Relatively cheap to buy
2. Relatively cheap to run
3. Cuts down on the number of speeding accidents because it cannot do those highway type speeds
4. Great for taking kids to school, getting groceries - a really good "Mother" car :o)
5. Takes power away from the greedy guts in the gas and oil businesses
6. Puts power and independence in the hands of those who can afford it but not the gas guzzler type of car. People like pensioners, people with jobs but lower paying ones. Great for people who seldom leave their own city but would like not to have to depend on other people or taxis or buses to go short distances. Great for young people going to college or University, their first job etc and good for their parent's nerves lol
7. Good for everyone - makes for cleaner air. People with respiratory illnesses like asthma etc will benefit. Puts less carcinogens in the air so good for fighting the war on cancer.
8. Not sure about this but I think it might be good for cutting down on the number of stolen cars - Pretty hard to speed off in one of these :o)

People in the cities I have lived in most often use their cars for local stuff. Some, in fact, seldom go more than a mile or two from home. I think it is a great idea and I hope you get one, Ayiza.

Just think - every electric car on the road is one more nail in the coffin of the greedy gas and oil people. Now that is something to celebrate!!

Edit to Nick. There is no gas or oil worth talking about there either but you all drive gas operated cars. PetroSA does not make your gas and oil any cheaper than anywhere else. Where there is a will, there is a way.

Is there any pedal cars or any kids electric cars that are for older kids, like 9-11?

Vivian Wal

Is there any pedal cars or any kids electric cars that are for older kids, like 9-11?

Answer
The electric cars for kids are not new on the market and they are becoming more and more sophisticated with the development of this segment of the toy industry. You can readily get one of these for your kid. He or she will definitely love playing with it outdoors. You will also have the peace of mind that your youngster is perfectly safe while having fun. Still, most parents think that it is very easy for such a car to be chosen. The truth is that this is not the case - you can choose from numerous models with different specifications. Here are some tips that will aid you in making the right choice.

The voltage of the battery is essential. The 12 volt models are the most widely available ones. The battery can last for a couple of hours and get charged overnight, which is convenient for both children and parents.

What exactly is a hybrid car?

livingthed

Answer
a hybrid car is a car that runs on gas and a battery. When your at a stop light it switches from gas to battery to save gas, when ever you stop it switches from gas to electric saving alot of gas. But on interstate or highway driving there really isnt any stops so you run on gas getting better gas mileage in city than highway. for example the toyota prius is a hybrid it gets 51city and 48 highway. but normal non hybrid cars get better highway then city

What's up with car salesmen not wanting to sell hybrids?...lower commissions?

Serena

Today we tried to buy a Toyota Highlander Hybrid...what an ordeal. The salesman actually tried to discourage us from buying the car. First we were told that there weren't any available. We asked to see one (even a non-hybrid to at least check out the design). He said, "They're way down the street." Then he said that we wouldn't be able to get one for a long time...and why bother. Then he said that the mileage difference was no big deal. I said to him, "Why are you trying to NOT sell us a hybrid?" He just said that they were extremely hard to get, and that we'd be disappointed. I couldn't help but feel like there was a larger picture behind it all... Has anyone else run into this problem? I am guilty of being part of the "more is better" generation. I'm ashamed to admit that we own a Cadillac Escalade ESV...a true gas guzzler. Last night we rented "Who Killed the Electric Car?" (a must see).. & a real wake up call. We're trying to be more responsible and buy a hybrid...if only we can!

Answer
A car salesman would much rather sell you a car that is on the lot, taking up space, than having you preorder one... (take the comission now, not later). there is not as much wiggle room for the amount of commission on the hybrids, as there is for getting a vehicle off the lot now.

Perhaps a different salesperson at that dealership may do better (usually the internet/fleet sales person handles the hybrids), or you should ask some owners' groups for suggestions of better informed dealers to go to.
(Time to get one depends on prior sales at that dealership and willingness to do a trade with other dealerships, so perhaps a larger dealership would get one sooner.)

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/highlander_hybrid/
http://www.hybridchat.com/forums/toyota-highlander-hybrid/
http://www.greenhybrid.com/discuss/f31/

to note, fuel economy is actually quite improved:
Toyota Highlander 2WD, 6 cyl, 3.3 L, Automatic (5 speed), Regular: 17 MPG city, 23 MPG highway
Toyota Highlander Hybrid 2WD, 6 cyl, 3.3 L, Automatic (CVT), Regular: 28 MPG city, 25 MPG highway
Toyota Highlander 4WD, 6 cyl, 3.3 L, Automatic (5 speed), Regular: 16 MPG city, 22 MPG highway
Toyota Highlander Hybrid 4WD, 6 cyl, 3.3 L, Automatic (CVT), Regular: 27 MPG city, 25 MPG highway
The hybrid versions of the Toyota Highlander do get better fuel economy than the gasoline-only versions, and the hybrids are SULEV whereas the gasoline-only versions are "only" ULEV (SULEV has cleaner/less smog-forming emissions), and the hybrids also qualify for zero evaporative emissions (which the gasoline-only models do not).

How can I get help paying my EXTREMELY large electric bill in Pa?

jellabean

My husband just started a new job. We're both in our mid 20's. We have 2 infants and a boat load of debt to pay off plus the regular bills. We're in so much money trouble, it's scary. We need help with our PECO (electric) bill so bad. They're going to shut off our electricity if we don't pay it in full, in 20 days time. With 2 babies to take care of, we can't afford to have no electric or gas. Any suggestions? (and please don't say something cute like get a job or something. i'm asking for help, not sarcasm.)

Answer
This is a vicious cycle problem. I'm in Australia and have suffered the same problem in earlier life. Steps:

. talk to PECO - often if you have to (how extreme is the bill? If it's miles out of whack with normal, explain this to them. It has surprised you and you haven't allowed for it in your budget) - answer above was good

Regardless of what happens there (because you have to sort things):
. try looking for sell-offs (answer above was good). Can you get a cheaper car to run? Televisions, old childrens clothes and toys at a garage sale etc
. try raising the money through non-borrowing means (e.g. an extra job or whatever)
. try charities - are you in a church for example?
. can you get help with more efficient heating and cooling - lots of green groups out there that might like to use you as a 'project'!

You might need to swallow your pride a bit, get this problem fixed and then fix the underlying problems like doing more efficient things with heating and cooling.

hybrid electric cars and cost and building one?

Ashley1nOn

i was wondering im only a teen.. i wondered if you are driving the electric cars/gas....yes you are saving money on gas... but how much oney are you having to spend on your home electric bill just to recharge your car.. different areas have different price in electric bills and where i live the price is pretty steep. .so just charing the car is going to cost you home wise....then of course you have to pay for all of the instalation of the elctric system.. you have to get the battery change out...i have heard that there rattled in these hybrid cars when the swtich from gas and go to electric...

my main question is.... are you really saving when you buy hybrid cars........or should you wait on the hybrid cars to come out(later date) so all the kinks in the car are gone...

also wih building a car.. a group of kids and i have a dodge challenger(mine 09 suppercharged i got a new one cult enegry10 srt8 yayyyyme) but what we have done was get a used hhybrid car and took the battery out we have been working on the car for a while to get it to efficenly work on the challenger... it runs smooth and great.... the only problem is that you have to switch it over to hybrid or gas before you turn the car on.... we were wondering is there anyway we could get the car to switch over while the car is on say we are at a red light and want to to it back to gas... what would be a better way to have it.. its a diesel hybrid what we call it.. we did alot of modifacation to make sure it works properly and runs smooth because we still wanted a hot muscle car sound...

so is there anyway we can get the car to switch over while we are driving....

thank you very much,
the future of cars

sorry for my bad spelling

oh and we can get the car to get 23mpg on the electric and 17mpg for just the gas

Answer
You pay 1/4 as much (to go the same distance in the same car) for electric as you do for gas.

Installing a 220V 30A breaker doesn't cost much at all. That can charge an electric car at 15 miles per hour (15 miles of range for each hour of charge). That's as much as you need. For faster charging than that you need to install a special box.

Hybrid cars will get less expensive as the price of the batteries goes down. How much you save in gas depends on the price of gas and how much you drive. Can you predict what the price of gas will be in the next 7 years? Of course not, no one can. But I'll tell you this, it aint going to go down. At $4.00 per gallon, your savings in gas usually out weighs the higher car payment.

Listen dude, we don't know what components you're using in your car or how you have it wired up. How are we supposed to know how to rewire your own creation? But I'll tell you this, taking off from a red light, it's better to have electric and diesel at the same time as opposed to just diesel.

People often think of hybridizing as a way of saving fuel, but that's not actually the case. It's a way of increasing the power without burning that much more fuel. Some car manufacturers use it as a way of getting super high gas mileage by using a super small engine and still having enough power to move. But you could just as easily use it as a speed mod. Like a super charger or nitrous, only instead of burning more fuel and shortening the life of your engine, you burn the same amount and lengthen the life of your engine.

If you could would you Build an electric car?

If you could build an electric car would you choose to or stay with oil? As oil prices are now I believe that everyone should want an electric car.
I saw a thing on the News a few weeks ago and a kid in Michigan built an electric car on a minimum wage job. He spent 6,000$ converting the car to electric but it would be well worth it in the end. Instead of paying upward from 40-60 dollars a full tank of gas a week he paid only 15-20 dollars a month. Now if you spend 40$ as a base every week on gas for a month that's 160$.

On a website I found how to convert a car to Electric from between 5,000$ and 10,000$. This would be an investment to me.

I figure we need to switch to electric as it's a renewable energy source. What do you think?

Answer
She it I do is wrong about batteries on several points.

About charging the battery wearing it out, and needing to replace it, he's talking about lead acid batteries. They're awful batteries, but they're good at one thing -- starting engines -- so they took over the world! Correct batteries for electric cars were developed by none other than Thomas Edison -- his NiFe "Edison Cells" last many decades, we have some at railway museums that still work fine. A cousin to the NiFe is the NiMH used in some hybrids.

Best recharge time 6 hours? Come on, it was 90 minutes on the EV1, and I can charge my camera batteries in 15 minutes http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000GF2L7E/ref=wolfharper-20

The battery won't "just go dead". The battery meter will tell you exactly what you got, so you'll know. And unlike a gas car, when an electric gets into trouble it can still limp for miles. Last I looked there are power plugs everywhere. Pull up at a restaurant, ask the manager if you can plug in, enjoy a meal, good2go. Try that in a gas car.

Can anybody help me by explaining what is an average living cost in UK - Birmingham ?

aftab.ulha

I'm getting a job of 40 K / Year in UK â Birmingham, I really need to know ground figures of living costs there, I mean what is an average or minimum family house rent, how much does it need to get driving license if u even have previous, what about taxation, food & home expenditures, or any other expenses which are necessary to know. I would be thankful.

Answer
40K what? £ or $?

£40,000 is a comfortable income. For a single person, even a couple but you may find you need to be frugal if you have children and both couples want to run a car and socialise.

Houses

Is the best site it takes properties from almost every UK estate agent.

Roughly. Yearly

House Rent £6000-£12000 depends what you want and where.
Council Tax £1000-£2000
Electric/Gas £2000+
Water/Sewerage £500.
Home insurance £250

You can drive for 1 year on a foreign license but you will then need to take a new test which you should budget up to £1,000 to get lessons take the written and road tests and license.

You can earn £6000 a year tax free after that it is 20% but you will also have to pay for NHI that will put up deductions to about one third of your salary altogether.

If you have kids you could get family tax credits and pay less.
You should be able to claim a family allowance too

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/TaxCreditsandChildBenefit/Childbenefits/index.htm

Claim for everything as soon as you can, if you are entitled you will get paid back to the date of the claim.

Cost of renting in the UK?

Paul J

Hi there,

I'm sure this has been asked a few times but since every is constantly changing in the UK pricing wise was hoping someone could help me come up with an approx cost per month for living by myself.

Okay, I'm currently making £1200 pm after the damn taxman has finished with me, I'm looking at renting my own place. The places I have seen so far which I like come in at around £400-450pm, what other additional costs should I expect to pay on top of that? My current out goings at the moment are £45 a month (car insurance + tax) and food/drink and petrol. My issue is i have no idea how much council tax would be never mind utilities, I don't use a great deal of electric or anything of that nature really, I seriously just shower once a day and use my PC for work stuff and gaming so how much am I looking at paying monthly with the rent + what I mentioned above been as "standard"?

Thanks in advance for any advise!
ps. go into as much detail as possible please I don't want to be kidding myself :P

Ow btw I'm looking at Leeds if thats important :D

Answer
In the city it cost more, check with some of your co-workers on that council tax.

2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid?

RoyalBoltz

Should I buy 2013 or 2014 Accord possibly electric 2014 accord or another similar car?

brian

In the next few months I will prepare to buy new car. I currently have a 2003 Accord and don't expect much action on the trade in(its has<100K miles but let me know if I am wrong at that). So here is my main question(s). Should I wait until July when the new 2014's come out? I mean what is the difference in value? Defining value with a quasi equation like price/year+new options. Is it worthwhile for me to wait until the 2014 model year comes out. Also, in 2014 an electric version comes out which claims 100+ mpg at the same time says something like 46 mpg - I live in the city so I my commute is rather short and this may be in my wheelhouse. I am wondering also about TCO (total cost of ownership) estimated break even point, tax incentives and peoples experience with electric cars. I typically keep my cars for 10 years if that is a help. Also, I am looking for some good strategies to get the best landed price for my purchase.

Answer
As long as the range limitations of an electric car work with your driving needs, it will save you money on fuel and maintenance - a lot of money.
*
A typical gas-fueled car costs over $200/month to fuel with gasoline. The same miles on electricity cost less than $40 per month - maybe even less than $20 (check with your utility, they may have special overnight EV charging rates.)
*
Plus, electric motors don't need oil changes, filters, fluids, spark plugs, tune-ups or any other regular maintenance. Some people worry about batteries, but modern EV battery formulas are very long-lived (likely to be at least 150,000 miles.)
*
The purchase price will be higher, but remember to consider the total cost of driving, not just the cost of the car. A monthly payment that's $150 higher is no big deal if you are saving $200 on fuel cost.

how can i make a remote control car go faster?

warlooker

i brought a small remote control car about less than $20.00 hoping i can make it go faster.
how can i make it go faster i want to put a battery in so the motor can spin faster and oil my gears.
but is there any other way to do it.
thank you guys for helping.

Answer
For $20.00 you can't expect to get much more out of the car. It's not really built for speed at that price. Basically, this is a kids toy. There is a huge difference between remote control cars for kids and remote control cars for adults. The complexities of the cars have a very wide gap. Kids cars will run on just a few AA batteries. RC cars for adults feature full miniature engines. Lots of the popular motor kits run on fuel such as gasoline or nitro. Others run on large battery packs that are essentially beefed up versions of kids toys. These cars require just as much maintenance as a real car, since they have all of the same components (plus all of the radio transmitting gear!) to deal with.

So you may want to save up and get your moneys worth by opting for petrol, nitro or electric models. The fastest engine choice that you can find is a nitro engine. Nitromethane is an alternative to regular gasoline, and runs much better for RC cars. It is usually heavier, and therefore more cumbersome on the handling of the car. However, if you are going to be on a fairly straightforward and tame race course, it is a great choice and will provide a huge speed. The only down side is that nitro engines are known for wearing down faster, and breaking at a higher rate. If you use a nitro engine frequently, you can almost expect it to break after intense usage. It is a good idea to have an electric engine that you can swap it out with when the need arises.

The other parts of the car are equally important when you are aiming for absolute fastness. If you are you going all-out on a project, you should expect to spend quite a bit on components like wheels and axels. Usually you want to get wheels that are extremely firm and light. If you have the opportunity to go out to a hobby store and test out a few different components, you will be able to decide exactly what you want based on experiencing it first-hand. This is the best way to shop for anything, and the same goes for remote control cars. Since the parts are usually highly swappable, you can directly compare one with another by trying them in quick succession.

If you arenât a very technically inclined person, the thought of picking all of these parts might not sound very fun. However, you might not have to go through this process. It is possible to buy kits that include all top of the line parts, and are quite easy to assemble. With these you wonât get the high level of customization that you would get out of building a regular home-made car. Being able to choose all of the parts separately is a great benefit, although 90% of the time you can replace individual parts if you decide that you want to go for something that is of a higher quality or a little bit faster than what you had before.

All of these things really add up. If you have one part of a car that doesnât perform as well, the entire thing will be affected. Therefore you need to choose your parts carefully to have the best remote controlled car possible.

Is a gas or electric remote control car better?

Larissa

Answer
depends on type, use and user.

if your say using a ourdoor model for dirt or offroad i'd say gas.

if its for a kid, electric, with a rechargeble.
