My daughter is 11 years old and rides an electric scooter. Her mom thinks its the most dangerous thing in the world.I would like to get other peoples opinions and answers to see if see can ride it.She is tall enough and is perfect weight. She also always wears a helmet.
Answer
In my neighborhood, all my kids ride an old Honda Sprint. I only allow it because the traffic is fairly minimal. I trust them to look both ways at stop signs, be careful of cars backing out of driveways, watch for other kids playing ball, etc. At 4:30 they park it until 6:30 to avoid people returning from work. They can ride after dinner until dark.
Why is your wife so concerned? Is it traffic? Bad neighbors drag racing? Is your daughter not responsible?
Personally, I don't see much of a difference between riding a scooter and a pedal bike.

:)
I want to get a car that will not use up much gas, but I don't want a hybrid. Its too expensive. I am still young and its gonna be my first car. Any ideas? Thank you.
Answer
convert a gasoline car into a fully electric car for only eight thousand dollars. you can get a company to do it for you, but it would cost more.
or just ride a bike...zero emmissions, fun, and you get exercise!!!
and to the guy who said small cars are death traps, think again...
look at this list, most unsafe vehicles of 2009...most of them are pick ups and suv's...

edit: lmao, a hummer h1 is the greenest vehicle you can think of and electrics are more enviornmentally damaging? hahaha wow, you have to be kidding me...could you atleast say a honda fit, or something?
first of all, electric cars and hybrids batteries and electricity isn't as dirty as you think. first of all, the motors in these vehicles use much less electricity than your clothes drier. second of all, even if you did get electricity from coal, you would still be cutting your carbon footprint because electric motors are much more efficient than gasoline engines. but i hate it when people use the coal power plant excuse, we can't live forever with coal electricity. switching to electric cars isn't enough, we also have to switch to wind power, and solar power. infact, you can run your entire house off the grid with solar panels, while charging your electric vehicles. so you would basically be getting free electricity without making any polution.
and btw, when you RECYCLE batteries, you don't send them to a landfill...you send them to a recycling facility where the materials are reused for other batteries or other products.
hahaha btw, the you said a hybrid's batteries only last 100 000 miles...but then the battery's warranty is 150 000 miles on the toyota prius...so, i have no clue where you get your facts.
also, there are fully electric toyota rav4's with over 250 000 miles with their original battery pack. huh, 100 000 mile life? says who? and that's only with nickel batteries. lithium ion batteries last even longer.
hahaha wow, and you said electric car's are more expensive to operate?!?!?! get your facts straight!!! electric cars are ONE PENNY PER MILE to run!!! no idea where you got your $3.00 figure, do some research chevelle
