How do I motorize my bike?

My bike is a BMX or racing bike. I already have an electric motor (the kind you put in those mini Jeeps for kids) what else do I need, how do I make it legal in Louisiana, and please give me some blueprints or instructions on how to build it. I might be able to use a car motor but before you give me directions on how motorize it with a gas motor please show me how to motorize it with an electric motor.

Here's a site with 280 electric bike owner's descriptions, that should give you a good idea of what's practical, I didn't see BMX styles.
