i want to buy this motor for my cheap 1/16 electric rc car to make it faster.
this is the motor.
Traxxas 7075 Titan 380 Motor 18T Brushless Tra 1/16
will it work on any 1/16 electric car?
thanks!
Answer
Yes, you could use that motor. But you said you have a cheap 1/16th, meaning low quality??? If you get that motor for a low quality RC then chances are it will tear up the tranny gears. The Traxxas vehicle has stronger gears than the walmart and radio shack RC cars. So those gears can handle that kind of motor. You can get the traxxas motor to fit and work but I wouldn't expect your RC to last very long. Plus, the motor could burn up your ESC (electronic speed controller). You will notice a huge increase in performance but not for long because I would bet my left arm it will tear up your gearing before the battery dies. Hope this helps.

How many lead acid batteries do i need to have a range of 100 miles if i want to convert a light weight coup into an electric car?
Answer
A lot. A 100 mile range will require more batteries than the car can carry. The best you could do is about 40 miles with the best lead acid.
You would have to switch to 180AH LiFePO4 batteries to get your 100 miles probably 50 - 58 cells. There is a website that allows you to compute approximate EV conversion range based on parameters like vehicle weight, type of motor and quality of batteries.
