It isn't just that less gas taxes will be available, it will also increase the price of power for our homes and businesses because of higher demand. If they add a tax on electricity for highways then non drivers are paying, if they pay out of the general fund they must raise all of our taxes, again making non drivers pay, or worse we'll have low income drivers not paying at all. Should we have a mileage tax in the future to fund highways?

What are the best alternatives to gas? I am buying a car soon and am looking for a better choice.

back in the fifties there was a few engineers who made a few changes to the carburetors and made those huge giant non computer cars get 50 -65 miles per gallon..yes back then...and they and all of their inventions disappeared..and there has been a few movies made about them..and no one can find them..they were not working together..they were two separate instances..so if they could do it back then...then with the computer run cars of today..they should be able to get at least 50 from small cars and at least 35 or more from pick ups trucks and regular cars..why..because the oil companies and the car companies are in t together...and if you can dig deep enough you will find they have money if each others companies..so they do not want to get better gas mileage..
but if they all got 70 miles per gallon..don't you think gas would cost 15 dollars per gallon..so we do need to STOP using gas
and use corn oil, or hydrogen & electric, period.
we need to STOP using any fule sold by the now gas producing countries..now not ten years form now..
we ahve to write all our government people and MAKE them make the car companies get going NOW on this one..and also peopel like Binladen will lose gas money for their countries will not be selling any! ! !
