anybody know how to generate 353kw of electric power for a motor that will run a car?

electricit

Its called a pancake motor. it generates 500 hp at 6500rpm for 60 seconds. and 420ftlbs of torque. oh also i like to mention its only 8in. by 12.5in. and 147lbs in wieght. wow. i hope to make a race car run from this powerful motor. and when i can figure out how to generate 2000kw in a car then i could synchronize 3 of theses motors and drag race this car. cool huh.
by the way it is real go to www.rasortech.com and be amazed.
the real website is this www.rasertech.com/index.html
what about fuel cells

Answer
I am building electric vehicles now and I suggest you determine a few things first.

What are the structural limits of the shaft, housing and bearings?

How critical is heat to coils and how well is the device cooled?

I assume this is not a brushed motor but there are also questions of wiring capactiy and the voltage, amperage of the total system. Don't forget the formula for wattage is w=va where *v* is volts and *a* is amperage.

You have to figure out total current demands for this system. You also have to determine the constant load versus peak load performance of the motor. That rating does not sound like it is for continuous use and if you tried to keep that ouptput going for too long you may find yourself a burned out heap of metal.

Also is this single phase AC or a 3Phase AC motor?

You need to know the answer to that to determine better how you will power it.

A 353 Kw single phase AC generator is a pretty big piece of equipment and normally is gas turbine or diesel powered by a truck scale engine. A generator that large is a back up for a large building like a hospital wing or business.

The average backup generator for homes is 10 to 15 Kw and many shops can get all the power they need from a 60 or 80 Kw. You might recongize those along side a building and they look larger than a car or industruial AC unit.

You might use a high tech fuel cell but you need some pretty advanced equipment to build that safely. You can get that kind of power out of a batery bank for a short time but if you draw down at that rate without venting an cooling you may have heat problems there too.

Are you sure about your ratings?

I use pancake motors too but my 6 inch diameter 3 inch wide hub motor is only 600 watts. It only weighs about 22 pounds and runs on a 36v battery pack. That motor sounds very heavy to be that small but I would love to see it up close.

I believe they are building motors like that for the hybrid but its continuous use rating is a lot lower than you are citing above.

I have since looked up the motor you are describing and it is designed to be continuously operated at much lower power ratings. You don't need to generate as much electrical power as you think to make use of it.

I suggest generating a three phase current but using each phase in an alternate wye and delta configuration to function as an electronic transmission.

Electric Car Power-ness?

Ma

how can I build all the power brakes, steering, etc, for an electric car

Answer
Generally smaller vehicles with fewer power grabbing accessories are used as the basis for a conversion from an ICE vehicle to an electric vehicle. To adapt power accessories to an electric vehicle you will have to provide what they need. If the accessory runs off of a vacuum then you need to install an electric vacuum pump. If it needs electricity you need to run the appropriate power to it. If it needs air pressure you will need to install an electric compressor. If it needs a hydraulic pump you will have to find an electric equivalent.

If you are trying to build a car from scratch then you might find similar parts from a junkyard.
