What was the first automobile built or introduced in Canada?

I need to know who made the first automobile (car) in Canada, what it was called and when it was made.

And also... did the automobile radically change Canada's way of life, and if so, how has the automobile impacted Canada's way of life?

The Dixon Carriage Works of Toronto built electric cars starting in 1893.
They were followed by the Canadian Motor Syndicate which also made electric cars starting in 1895.
The Walkerville Motor Works started building model C Ford's in 1904.

Since then there has always been automobile production in Canada.

Most of the production has been from divisions of the American Big Three or for Japanese manufacturers (Honda and Toyota). Over the years, there has also been production for some European makes with Renault and Volvo both having Canadian assembly plants.

As an anecdote, you might like to know that the last generation of the iconic "American" muscle cars, the Chevy Camaro and Pontiac Firebird, were actually built in Blainville, Québec.

Which is the only province to have legislated this type of vehicle?

radio trivia ? today:
Transport Canada recently approved the first 100% electric car. The vehicle, about the size of a Mini Cooper, has a top speed of about 40 km/h and is definitely an urban vehicle. I think this is the new ZENN car and I thought Ontario but its said No wrong answer.
