Curious an
Parents over the age of...23y/o judge teenage mothers? I am one and just because I am a teenager does not mean I don't love my children and it also does not mean I can't provide for them. Yeah, life is harder than it would have been if I had waited ( they weren't planned) but they still have everything they need. They are too young to know what they want ( 2 months old, twins) but when they get older and start asking for things they might want, they will get them. Not in a spoiled way, on special occasions or as a treat.
Just because I am 15y/o and a mother to twins, people assume I am terrible at it.
Just incase people ask. I studied a year ahead at school through out my pregnancy. Now I take work home. I work 4 evenings a week from 9-11:30pm, so I can put them to bed and they won't or rarely will wake up to their Nana. I don't live at my parents, I don't except hand outs from them. I rarely leave them with family to babysit, minus doctor/dentist appointments. I don't go out.
It pi**es me off people assume I can't do it.
I do receive some of their Father's money. He died before I found out I was pregnant but he had a will because of his line of work.
It is not a huge amount, just enough to get by. It was originally for his sister if he died but they died in the same accident, meaning his parents give it to me monthly instead.

I think what people "my age (WAY over the age of 23...37 to b exact) complain about when it comes to teen moms is their DRAIN on the Welfare System! U state (so proudly) that U do not live w/your parents & U work a WHOPPING 10hrs/week. So my ? is this..who is paying for your apt/house? How are you feeding those kids? Who is paying your electric? Gas? Water? Cell? Internet? Car Insurance? Putting gas in your car? Cause, sweetie, U CAN NOT do that on the pay from 10rs/wk! So, someone else is paying for you and your kids! Whether it b their dad thru his CS (which wont cover all the expenses) or thru Welfare...U are not REALLY supporting your kids! Someone else is! So you are REALLY not doing everything for them...someone else is! How would U like to see your hard earned tax dollars going to people who have kids & then REFUSE to financially support them? Money that your family needs is going to support someone who doesn't wanna support their own! That is what "older parents" complain about!
P.S. U are 15 & not living @ home?? Wonder why that is??

Answer
Oh, I am gonna so get sooo many thumbs down.
1. My daughter was 9 and had electric blue highlights in her hair. She plays line on a boys football team, it was a trend- school color being blue.
2. I would have no issue with my daughter wearing makeup now, she is 10. She is a tomboy and does not care about makeup. I do not forbide it, which is why she does not request it.
3. My kids have had phones for years, I believe my daughter was sevenish. They are prepaids, they do care about them either. They very rarely if ever ask for a minute card. They are very useful for us because my kids play sports and do extra curricular activities. They will often need a ride a various times. No payphones in our town. Phones are useful. Plus I can gps their locations.
4. My kids have fb also. They are 13,11, and 10 years old. They have them because my son this past summer travel to Europe. Fb was a free easy way to communicate. They never used it, lol. And still do not.
5. Wear shorts above the knee. Any age within moderation. Fingertip test in my house. Again, not an issue with a tomboy. Tomboys do NOT wear short -- shorts. You would never wear anything but basektball shorts to play basketball in. Ah, the logic of a 10 year old.
6. As for going to the mall alone with friends. Not happening. Our nearest mall is 45 minutes away. Unless the kids can drive they are out of luck. Even if they could drive, still is not happening. In our state you cannot drive with passengers until you reach a certain age. No friends in cars.
7. Laptop, my kids all have laptops. We worked with computers and internet for several years. That is a given. Again, yeah my kids never turn them on.
8. Ipod- i woukd say 10 or 11 depending on the kids responsibility. They are expensive. My 11 year old had one since he was 10. As for an ipad, yup that ain't happening. Way too expensive, I do not even care if we can afford it. They want it, they can buy it.
So, I am not much of an "at a certain age", type of parent. Certain thi gs go with responsibility. One of my kids may be ready for something and the other may not.
