How much should I ask for for a gray electric club car? It has really nice wheels, a back seat that folds down and a whole light system installed. Just wondering what it would be worth.

Answer
This is all relevant to the year of the cart......also you have not mentioned if the batteries are in working condition. If you have good working batteries its one price and if you have new batteries its another usually at least a 500-700 dollar price difference. If you can include the items above the year and battery condition I can give you an accurate price for your golf cart. New, the Club Car goes arround 8000 and here I am talking about a 2012 Model. Also is this carts a 2 - 4 - 6 - 8 Passenger golf cart? That makes a very big difference as well in the price of a Club Car Golf Cart. The price I have quoted you for your Club Car is for a 2 Passenger Cart this link will help you with getting prices for your cart http://lsvcarts.com/clubcars.html

What are we going to do with all of the batteries generated from electric cars?

0Bama Hawa

From the article:

"the industry has not figured out how to dispose of 500 plus pounds of the highly hazardous lithum batteries per car."

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/01/09/electric-car-subsidies-transferring-wealth-from-poor-to-rich/

Answer
First of all, of course, any valuable elements of batteries will be recycled. Automotive batteries are currently the most consistently recycled product on earth.
*
Secondly, lithium batteries simply do not contain anything very toxic. Below quote from http://www.myelectriccar.com.au/batteryeco.html
*
QUOTE: "Lithium ion batteries are made from nontoxic lithium carbonate (often used in ovenware), nontoxic cobalt oxide (used as a pottery glaze), nontoxic graphite (used in pencils), and a polymer (plastic) membrane. The most toxic components in the final product are the electrolyte and lithium cobalt oxide, neither of which are persistant in the environment and both of which are increasingly being replaced by more benign compounds. "
*
Unfortunately, the alternative - petroleum - is indeed quite toxic.

This one here --> http://www.oo.com.au/Little_Tikes_Cozy_Coupe_Car_P17796.cfm?AFID=15&cm_mmc=MyShopping-_-cpc-_-feed-_-null

Is it worth the $150?? Or waste of money? Looking at getting one for my daughter soon lol

Answer
They are DANGEROUS.
If the kid gets onto a slope they lose all control over them, and can careen into walls, fences or even out into traffic and get seriously hurt.

I'd never thought twice about them until my husband pointed this flaw out. As a result my son will NEVER be getting one. Plus, even in Australia where the recommended retail IS that high (toyworld often has them for less than the $150, so don't get it from OO- save yourself the shipping!) you can get better ride on toys for less.

The advantage to the cozy coupe is that younger children can handle it, my son was able to handle the display ones in our second most local toyworld at 12 months. Personally I would recommend getting something that doesn't free wheel as easily just for the safety factor.

I purchased this car for my son's first birthday
http://www.soldsmart.com.au/Kids-Electric-Ride-On-Racing-Car-and-Remote
They take a while to ship (about two months, but they'd been out of warehouse stock for this one when I ordered it and had to wait for more from overseas).
I got it last time it was on special- it cost me $115 total including shipping to Ipswich, and it's a reliable little car. YOU can control it via the remote, and it's slow enough that when the child does master controlling it you can catch them before they get into a dangerous situation.

51. While walking around the store, sing in your loudest voice
possible "sex and candy"

52. Try putting different pairs of women's panties on your
head and walk around the store casually.

53. Leave small sacrifices or gifts in the hands of the
mannequins.

54. Nonchalantly "test" the brushes and combs in Cosmetics.

55. When two or three people are walking ahead of you, run
between them, yelling, "Red Rover!"

56. Look right into the security camera, and use it as a mirror
while you pick your nose.

57. Set up another battlefield with G.I. Joes vs. G.I. Janes.
(Red lipstick might give an interesting effect!!!)

ask the clerk if he knows where the anti-depressants are. Act
as spastic as possible.

59. While no one's watching quickly switch the men's and
women's signs on the doors of the rest room.

How has technology advanced since the 1960s?

kids electric cars for 7 year olds image

Question M

So, how has technology advanced from 1963 to today? What is different and what is the same? What might we see from 2013 to 2063?

Answer
You do not know. We got electric in 1969. Some of the last on rule electrification. I seen my first computer in high school assembly. It was 18 inch's wide, 4 foot long, and 24 tall. In a wooden box. And could do some math. They said it was the future and we had a good laugh at that one. I bought my first hand held calculator in 1969. $20 buy the same today for $2. A days wages for one. In 5th grade a transistor radio was a hot Christmas gift. Few got one. Crews control in a car. Pull out the throttle cable and take your foot of the gas. In the 60s if you were willing to work you could always make out with a shovel and strong back. In truth the world changed in 1969,1970. I was very fortunate. Grandfather was the last blacksmith in the county. Hammer and forge man. And a good one.last of the horse wagons as well in towns, We seen the last of the old days pass away. In 1970 augers did the same work micro switch's for control, earning your way with a shovel died,we took the last mules to the tankage plant. As power skiders could get back in the swamp to log. And the world is changing again. What it will be I have no idea. But in high school I had no idea as well what today would be. I do know that after high school I only had 7 jobs were mules were involved. And we packed in our computers and solar cells to run them. I got those jobs because you young kids are dumb enough to walk behind a mule and don't think they bite at the other end. It has changed that much. From 1969 to today it became the electronic age. When I was in school if a show was on T.V they wanted you to watch. They made sure you could go to some ones house that had a T.V. I remember seeing my first color T.V. The color was so pale. And the sets so sensitive they had to be set in a vibration free area and dark room. But that technology created more jobs than they took. Expanding pros parity. To days technology does away with more jobs than it creates. And that I think is going to be a problem. The best will do well. I am retied now and hope I do not need to care about that. Because my skills are being rapidly out dated. Just like my grandfathers were. He was good, one of the best. But that way died with him. Today your a year out of the job market your skills are old fashion skills.

Can a family of 3 survive on just over 1300 a month?

Kodey

I, as of recently, have lost 95% of my hours at my part-time secondary job. My primary workplace however, is currently paying me $10.50/hr. I am now curious if myself, along with my fiance and 2-year-old daughter could survive off of the estimated 1300/month.

Currently, expenses that I can track (or estimate) are as follows:

Rent 540 (2bd 1b apt)
Electric 100-120 summers 50-80 winter
Gas 0 (included in rent)
Water 0 (also included in rent)
Car insurance 115
Groceries 300-350+
Fuel 120+
Toiletries 40+
I would also like to add that for the time being, I am currently receiving government assistance in the grocery department. I suppose that should be added to my monthly income. I would like to release myself from the assistance as soon as I am able to go without.

Long story short, 1550 a month is a better estimate for my monthly income at this point in time.
If my partner was to pick up a part-time job, I would then need a form of daycare for my 2 year old. Greatly increasing my monthly expenses. We are also working with just the one vehicle, bring the issue of limited transport into play. How could we counter this to improve our current state of living?
This is NET not GROSS if that makes any difference at all.

Answer
$1300 a month to play with (go with the pessimist view always so that you have "left-overs" to play with).

10% goes to long-term (retirement) savings: $130 a month. While you're in the crapper, make this 3% ($39) towards retirement and 7% ($91) towards your emergency fund.

15% goes to debt repayment/emergency fund: $195 a month that should be going to a regular savings account until you have at least 6 times your monthly income ($7800); in your case, you should just be aiming to save as much as you can beyond that amount.

35% goes to housing (rent, mortgage, bills, utilities, insurances, etc.): All-inclusive, you can afford under $455 a month, which means that you would be over-spending by $165; get more income to cover this gap.

15% goes to transportation (gas, insurance, repairs, bus): $195 a month, which you are over-spending by $40; more income to cover the gap.

25% goes to life (food, entertainment, clothing, gifts, travel, medical, wants, phone, internet, cable, other): $325 a month, or $81.25 a week. I suppose it depends on where you live, but I'm a young adult living on my own and that's what I can support myself on only.

So you need at least $205 extra every month to cover your gaps, and preferably a bit more than that so you can add some to life/savings.

What about the side-jobs? Tutor, baby-sit, pet-sit, house-sit, walk dogs, clean pools, weed gardens, mow lawns, shovel snow, rake leaves, clean houses, run errands for people, etc.

Your fiancé is staying home anyway to take care of your child, why doesn't she do a home-daycare? If she took care of one extra child five days a week and charged $25 per day, she'd be making $500 extra every month doing what she already does with your kid; not to mention she would have a play-date all the time.

How Many Years Does the Battery in a Prius Last?

best electric cars for 2012 image

Dave

I'm really considering buying a Prius because me and my family have been scraping pennies to put gas in the tank these days. My moms Ford Taurus just ran out of gas the other day and that was the last straw for me. We are dumping around 30 bucks a week of our hard earned cash into that car, and enough is enough. I don't know much about hybrids or electric cars so I want to know how many years can I get out of the battery in the Prius before it needs to be replaced? Especially since i'm looking at a few used 2010 Prius' with around 37-47k miles on them. Are they low maintenance? What kind of gas savings can I expect to get? I just need reliable, low cost transportation back and forth to school.
And I know there is an 8 year/100,000 mile warranty but will the battery last longer than that? I don't want to be replacing a battery every 8 years.

Answer
The mean time between failures for the 2004+ Prius traction battery isn't really known because not enough Prius have reached 300,000 to 400,000 miles yet. There are Prius owners with over 400,000 miles on the original battery. For Prius owners, the traction battery is a non-issue, similar to how an automatic transmission is a non-issue to old fashioned car drivers. The replacement price isn't that high and has been going down every years. It's under $2000 plus $500 installation for a new battery.

http://www.trademotion.com/parts/2012/TOYOTA/PRIUS/?siteid=213747&vehicleid=1503615&section=HYBRID%20COMPONENTS

Or you can get rebuilt batteries from companies like http://www.re-involt.com/ (Though right now they really only do 2001-2003 Prius batteries because there haven't been enough 2004+ batteries fail. Note that the 2001-2003 use the older style batteries which don't dissipate heat as evenly). Over half the 2001-2003 Prius with the older style battery are still on the original battery, so I wouldn't put all that much faith in statements like "only lasts ten years". Also GM doesn't use the same chemistry as Toyota. GM uses LiOn while Toyota uses NiMH. (Toyota does use LiOn but only in the plug-in-prius).

http://bc.ctvnews.ca/hybrids-prove-very-reliable-1.599754

You can also obtain a battery from a newer wreck for about $500. So, just like an automatic transmission, there are many choices should it fail.

Battery life also depends on environmental conditions.

The Prius also has a small 12V auxiliary battery which lasts about five years.

2004 Prius MPG from the logbook. (Complete years only):
2003-2004 -- 50.8 mpg 17,628 miles
2005 -- 52.6 mpg 14,688 miles
2006 -- 56.3 mpg 16,174 miles
2007 -- 57.3 mpg 18,384 miles
2008 -- 59.9 mpg 21,755 miles
2009 -- 61.4 mpg 16,177 miles
2010 -- 65.2 mpg 12,134 miles
2011 -- 66.9 mpg 11,272 miles

Are fully electric cars really the solution to high gas prices?

Carlos

Supposedly, half of the fuel spent during an electric vehicle's life span is spent constructing the vehicle. As gas prices rise, so will the cost of an electric vehicle.

Answer
You raise a good point but these things are never simple. Cars get old and will be replaced in any event. No one is suggesting that you take your 2011 Lexis scrap it and buy a 2012 electric car. The value that is in the lexis is sold to someone else and they avoid the fuel cost involved in a new car.

If you are in the habit of buying a new car every 1 to 3 years then there is energy that goes into either an electric or an ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicle. When we take a look at the specific vehicles we find that an ICE and its associated transmission can have up to 700 moving parts. This is in addition to the thousands of non moving parts used to support motion. The EV can have as few as 5 moving parts. They are far simpler vehicles.

While I have not seen stats on this, one has to assume that more parts equals more transportation for parts to be assembled. More transportation equals more fuel (and of course the resulting pollution.)

While electric vehicles assembly will become more expensive over time so also will ICE vehicles and we might expect more so. As renewable energy becomes a greater part of our electric production long term costs will be reduced. Petrol fuel costs will never be reduced but only rise.

Once the cars are assembled and operating the ICE vehicle is only about 15% efficient at the wheels. That means 85% of the fuel is wasted to inefficiency rather than motion. The EV on the other hand can be more than 90% efficient from battery to wheels. So here is a tremendous fuel saving that starts from the first day of operation.

Finally there is the issue of subsidies. Fossil fuel costs are presently subsidized about 12 times more than renewable energy costs. Because of subsidies the connection between cost and efficiency is broken. The electric vehicle has the potential of using renewable energy for fuel that is not an option for the petrol fueled vehicle. If subsidies were to disappear or be adversely affected by an embargo or a war the EV could remain cheaper to operate, in addition to being more efficient, while the petrol vehicle could be priced to extinction.

Answer
Depends how much older you're talking about (nvm, just re read.). But at my local walmart, there's different kinds of cars that will fit, 2-5 year olds, maybe older.
They have jeeps too, and little corvettes and stuff , it's cute! :)
Good Luck!(:
EDIT: if it's for an 11 year old, i would suggest getting a bike, or scooter, they might like that.
Maybe an electric scooter.

Is 23 Too Old To be Still Living a Home?

Anomymous

I'm 23 and I still live at home. I pay for my bills and food every month though and I'm in community college. I can't find a job and I'm still waiting on an apartment. How old were you when you left home?
I live with my grandmother by the way.
BQ: Do you think it's fair that I have to pay rent? I dont'.
What I mean is that Nodody will hire me. I've tried to get a job. I'm going to the unemployment office.

Answer
No, not in today's economic climate. I was 21 when I left home, but my grandparent's didn't charge for rent or food, so I was able to save up quite a bit thanks to them. I stayed with them through college.

My little brother is still at home, he's 24. He is just getting enough money saved to move out. He didn't go to school and works a blue collar job.

Both my sisters in law, aged 27 and 32, live at home.

My cousins live at home, twins age 21, and my older cousin, 29. The older cousin had been gone for 11 years (for college, then lived with BF for many years). Unfortunately they broke up and so she had to move home just recently to 'regroup'.

My sister who is 31 had to move back in with my mom for a year when her husband left her. She was 26 at the time, and had 2 kids age 2 and 6.

It could be worse...

Addition:
Yes it is absolutely fair that you pay rent or bills or food or contribute in some way. Parents and guardians are not obligated to support their offspring over the age of 18 (although of course many do).

My family gives till 21, then you have to start kicking in & that is VERY generous. 23 is beyond the age of adult, and one should have learned responsibility by this age. You have a job, you don't have kids or dependents & aren't picking up your bootstraps after a divorce/breakup in which you cohabited in your own dwelling with a mate.

There is NO reason at all why you shouldn't want to contribute, to show your gratitude for the free ride you're getting and all the help your Grama is giving to you. Asking if it is fair? Wow.

When you do get out and into your own apartment, you will be blown away by all the little costs to maintain a dwelling. You really must have no idea how much it costs your Grama to have you live with her. Energy, water, tax, food, wireless/cable, laundry detergent, toilet paper, and every other little thing that you don't think of because you don't pay for it. My gas/electric costs $5 per day. My Target/Wal-Mart trips are $300 a month, just for necessities, nothing extra. My grocery runs are $200/week, for 2 people. Never mind car payments, gas, taxes, vet ills, dentist bills, doctors bills etc... Every penny counts when you are running a home.

Contribute like a grown up, of course it is fair.

I am currently 7 months pregnant and I also have a 6 year old son (2 different fathers) I also have living with me my fiance's daughter who is 5 years old. I work part time currently and go to college part time. I handle most of the affairs with the children like homework, driving to and from school, getting them ready in the morning for school, taking baths, laundry, cleaning the house and so on and so forth,. My fiance has almost totally stopped helping with any of these tasks even though it is his daughter I am taking care of. Now he spends most of his time working and playing video games and his other hobby flying electric airplanes and driving remote controlled gas powered cars. I am desperate for something to change. We have not even set up the baby's room yet. He spends all of his extra money on his hobby's and I don't have much money since I only work 2 days a week and I will not be working after Jan. 3rd. Is there anything I can say or do to make some immediate changes? Please

Neither of us have ever had kids. What will be the biggest challenge? How much does day care cost? Diapers? Etc.? Will I be able to finish college? I need to hear about other peoples' experiences.

Answer
My husband is an accountant and figured this out as much as he could. Please be aware that we live in a high cost area so we are paying more than say, the Midwest.

1. Medical care - Maternity care and the doctor's fee for delivery is usually a flat rate. This includes all your prenatal visits and a basic vaginal delivery fee for the delivering physician. This does not cover blood work, ultrasounds, urology testing, vaginal cultures, etc. These are billed at whatever rate you have with your insurer. The actual stay at the hospital will be a room, bed, nursing plus materials cost. I would call your local hospital and insurer to figure out approximately what this will come to.

2. Day care. Completely depends on who, how and where. Count on at least $800/month on the low side for home-run daycare with much more for a franchise facility. We are fortunate in our area because we can get qualified nannies who are recent immigrants who will cook, clean and watch the children for $1000/month.

3. Diapers. Cloth diapers are more work, but less expensive. Cloth diapers now are entirely different from what they used to be. http://www.fuzzibunz.com/ http://www.happyheinys.com/ If you go with disposables, buy them from Sam's Club or Costco or equivalent. I would buy wipes in bulk from them as well. If we buy them from a local store, they run about $18-20/pack. The packs get smaller as the sizes get bigger. They start at around 40 diapers and go down from there. Babies go through about a dozen diapers a day to start and then taper down some. You will spend a ton of money here.

4. Feeding. Breastfeeding saves well over $1000/year. You will need a breast pump which runs up to $350. (Buy a good one such as a Medela dual electric.) You will also need smaller items such as nursing bras, nursing pads, etc. You will want to have some bottles and maybe a bottle warmer on hand so that she can express her milk with the pump, and others can feed the baby when she is not with him. I can't speak to formula feeding. We aren't planning on going that route.

5. Setup costs. Buying used can save you a ton of money, but you will need to do research to ensure that the items meet safety standards. I would suggest www.craigslist.com. Do NOT buy a used crib mattress. Buy this new for sanitary and safety reasons. I would also suggest that you buy a new infant car seat and base. If the car is ever in an accident of any kind, the infant seat and base must be replaced, even if they look perfectly undamaged. I wouldn't risk someone's selling you a seat that may have been in an accident. We had to buy new since in our area, the cost weirdly ends up being the same between the 'normal stuff' that we would buy and the used 'ultra-luxury' stuff that people sell. We budgeted $2000 and came in just below that, but that included everything - car seat, base, stroller, crib, mattress, changing table, all possible accessories, breast pump with all other breastfeeding items, bottles and nipples, bottle warmer, toys, glider rocker with ottoman, clothes, 500 wipes, 2 -3 weeks worth of diapers, etc. For this amount, we completely and fully outfitted an entire nursery by shopping sales, generous baby showers, and spending a lot of time online looking for quality, but less expensive baby furniture. We did buy a changing table that is really a dresser with a change table on top so that we didn't have to buy him a dresser when he is a toddler or to use for both children if we have a second (dresser for the first and changing table top for the second).

Our pregnancy was a complete and total surprise. (We were told that I probably couldn't have children.) We immediately began to save and make financial arrangements. We also reduced our expenses by cutting down on simple things such as my husband's morning stop for coffee, dinners out on Fridays, visiting movie theatres, etc. We instead starting doing free activities or lower costs things such as renting movies, going for walks in the free botantical gardens, eating out at cheap restaurants, and being more careful to buy grocery items that are on sale.

The baby was the first grandchild on both sides and the first baby in the family for several years so people went 'nutz-so' on gift giving which was very generous and a tremendous help. I would not be shy about registering for whatever you need. People love to buy for babies and are truly happy to give you gifts. Even co-workers surprised me with a homemade knit baby blanket and other presents.

My father (who is around a genius IQ) had a wife, two children and full-time, nightshift menial job sweeping coal dust in a power plant after being discharged from the Army. It took him nine years part-time, but he graduated from college and went on to have a good career. He started when I (the oldest child) was seven years told so I was 16 when he graduated. It was inspirational to us children and a constant reminder of the importance of diligence and hard work. When I went to college and got discouraged, I would think "Well, if Dad could do it, what I am getting so worked up about?" To this day, when someone mentions the word 'character', I think 'Dad'. Dad defines character. Staying in school may be hard, but I would strongly encourage you to do it.

Growing up, we didn't have all that much, but I had a very happy childhood which I look back on with nothing but fondness. I remembered being shocked when I grew older and realized that I had been a 'poor kid'. All I knew was that I was dearly loved, content and came from a stable, loving, happy home with parents who cared for me dearly.

What gifts do you buy for a mommy adopting a first child who is already a year old?

Oorah Wife

I have a professor who is adopting a one year old daughter over the weekend. My clinical group is going to throw her an "end of the clinical" lunch out. Once we found this out, we have decided to have a Surprise Baby Shower. We do not know what to get someone who is unable to concieve, and has not been able to experience the joys of being preggers, and having a newborn. We can not get normal baby shower things such as baby clothes and bottles..etc. What do you get someone who you want to be able to get as close to a normal shower as possible? The girl is one, and we have no clue on her size, so we opted out of clothes!"

Answer
It is so sweet for you to have a surprise shower for the new baby. Boy, you sure limit yourself on ideas!!! Listen, she is still a baby. She may not be a newborn but she still has baby needs. She may have registered at Target or Babies R Us (the baby section of Toys R Us.)

I'm sure the baby probably wears 18 months size or will soon. Buy size 2 because gosh, most 1year old grow into size 2 someday!!! or size 3!

Even if she can walk, I'm sure the mother needs a good stroller. Get one with a cupholder for the child and mother. A good quality carseat is necessary.

I bet that sweet little girl is not potty trained so buy diapers, wipes, and a diaper disposal thingy. Get sippy cups with the no spill lids, larger size bibs, toddler fork & spoons, little plastic bowls and plates, training pants, crib bedding (not cradle), a mobile for the crib, waterproof pads for the crib, toys that attach onto the stroller and carseat, keepsake handprint cast kit, and a seat protector for underneath the carseat.

Toys: classic Disney princess DVD, simple wooden or foam puzzles, electric bubble machine, push behind type toys, electronic leapfrog or V-tech brand toys, musical toys, toddler songs type CD, wagon, Little tykes swing, wagon, Little Tykes Cozy Coupe (cute car they pretend to drive.), and little girl dress up clothes.

You have a huge list of possiblities!

Mr. Predic

First CHANGE a few laws: Allow ANYONE to drive electric operated vehicles such as Golf-Carts drive on roads with speed limits on 35 mph and under.

Simple licence changes with Insurance changes.

SHORTS trips 2-4 miles represent 79% of ALL fuel usage in America (Car & Driver Mag March 2007) Grocery, Pharmacy, doctor get a pack of smokes etc.

A decent Golf cart $2800

I have a golf cart that goes 40 mph...I drive it everywhere and love it. If it rains I pop a roof with doors on it.....I love it.

I estimate it cost me around .49 cents for a full charge.

I do use it on the course and drive to the country club everyday with it...we go to lunch in .....hell everything!

I use it to go to the barn to feed our horses, we have 2 ponds and one lake we drive out to each evening to feed the fish.

what do you think?

if you have an objection....I'll answer you right back

oh....the bastar*s would be getting billion in taxes from fuel tax...lol
Charlie, Yes I have a solar charger...it takes a full day though
OneT...well yes, I live in west Texas..near Shamrock Tx. But you foks in the city couldbenifit from this...NOT all the time....just the short trips

Answer
Good plan - keep driving your golf cart, I think if it works for you that's great.

It's not going to work for a lot of us though. I drive to the grocery store, Target, pre-school, and random other errands. I make about 5 trips out a week if that. All of my errands require me to drive on a road with a 50 mph speed limit with a car seat in the back seat. I haul a lot of stuff too. So I'll be keeping my 7 seater SUV with a V8 engine (for hauling the camper, the other use for my car).
But you should absolutely drive whatever you want to drive. Just don't ask that I give up what I want to drive.

Edit - Wow Danielle, please tell me you are joking. So every Monday when it's negative 5 degrees I have to walk or ride my bike in the snow down to the store if I need something? What if my kid gets sick? Do emergency services still get to operate? That's almost as good as this great idea I had when I was 6 for a whole new economy - my parents called it the "penny economy" but I later realized I had just come up with a slightly less realistic theory than communism.

Edit2 - I see you live in Texas. I used to live in Arkansas so I'm familiar with the type of climate you live in. I live in Colorado now - different climate, very different landscape. Come to Colorado for a winter and you won't be thinking too highly of driving a gold cart around :)

http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/cto/1965270326.html

here the message they sent to me--
"The car it's still available, has 82,947 miles, manual transmission. It's in perfect condition, no engine/electric problems (4 Cylinder 1.8 Liter Turbo), no accidents/liens/loans. Exterior no scratches, never been repainted, interior no rips/tears/stains, never smoked inside. I have all the car's manuals, 2 spare of keys, title, documents. I'm selling the car because my child of only 19 died 4 months ago in a car accident, a drunk driver hit him and his fiancee. He was with his fiance's car coming to our home at his little brother birthday of 10 years old. This VW Golf was his car and it brings me bad memories and that's the reason I want to sell it. The last price is $2,900.
Me and my husband travel a lot with our business and we want to make this deal through eBay's Vehicle Purchase Protection Program. I just need your full name, full shipping address, home/cell # so I can open a case (with no further obligation or fees). eBay will contact you with all the Transaction/shipping details you will need. We will take care of the shipping, so don't worry.
We hope to hear soon from you."
i have a strong feeling this is a scam what do you think?

Answer
Are you kidding me ?

Can you read ?

eBay DOES NOT HAVE a Vehicle Purchase Protection Program

OFFERS TO SHIP CARS ARE 100% FRAUDULENT

You can sidestep would-be scammers by following these common-sense rules:

DEAL LOCALLY WITH FOLKS YOU CAN MEET IN PERSON - follow this one simple rule and you will avoid 99% of the scam attempts on craigslist.
NEVER WIRE FUNDS VIA WESTERN UNION, MONEYGRAM or any other wire service - anyone who asks you to do so is a scammer.
FAKE CASHIER CHECKS & MONEY ORDERS ARE COMMON, and BANKS WILL CASH THEM AND THEN HOLD YOU RESPONSIBLE when the fake is discovered weeks later.
CRAIGSLIST IS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY TRANSACTION, and does not handle payments, guarantee transactions, provide escrow services, or offer "buyer protection" or "seller certification"
NEVER GIVE OUT FINANCIAL INFORMATION (bank account number, social security number, eBay/PayPal info, etc.)
AVOID DEALS INVOLVING SHIPPING OR ESCROW SERVICES and know that ONLY A SCAMMER WILL "GUARANTEE" YOUR TRANSACTION.

I hate his micromanaging mother! (HELP)?

DeadMuse

NOTE: I'm not upset about the way they spend their money. I am how ever irritated by the way they do it. MAINLY HIS MESSED UP MOM!

Okay, My boyfriend and I decided to move into his parents place because we couldn't find a job out in OH. His mom orders our bus tickets (greyhound) and we're off on our merry way to NC. At first it's all fine and dandy, no one's rude, no one is bothering me. I'm actually quit happy here! (at first) after a week goes by his mom starts cracking down on me with rules, RIDICULOUS RULES! and i repeat as i say "ridiculous" I LITERALLY MEAN IT!

Okay, I'm not childish. I can understand some of the reasons WHY she's got at least half of these rules but seriously. She's .a s s. backwards. I'll give you an example why I think the way i do.

EX.1) even as an adult, she makes me and him go to our room at 10:30PM and forces us to go to sleep. (we have a bed time now) o.O; and tells us no electronics past 11. (see, i can understand that rule, she wants to make sure the electric bill wont sky rocket, i can get that.)

BUT WHEN YOU SIT THERE AND MAKE TWO ADULTS GO TO BED AT 10:30 AT NIGHT TO "TRY AND CONSERVE ELECTRICITY" SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY A BIG BILL THEN TURN AROUND AND WATCH TV IN YOUR ROOM ON YOUR BED UNTIL 3-4AM THEN IT MAKES YOU LOOK LIKE A HYPOCRITE!

2. As an adult, I'm being treated like "one of her own kids" flattering? no. I'd have killed myself along time ago if i were her eldest child. She's a micro-manager to the point to where she'll make you ask permission to eat. I have to ASK for a pop-tart. I have to ASK for a can of soda. I have to ASK for juice. Why? So she can save it for herself and her husband who's just a big version of a 10 year old.

instance: She bought 2 boxes of the mini bag's of chips (there are 36 of them) in each box. SHE COUNTS THEM! to see how much was eaten. These people live off of her husbands navy retirement checks + an extra one cause he got hurt on the job + his normal job's check. She's so worried about paying the bills yet goes out and buys a 300 dollar laptop for her husband then three and a half dozen boxes worth of dunkin donuts and krispy kream donuts PLUS breakfast for her family. PLUS! anything her husband wanted TO HIM SELF (which no one else can do here but those two) Does that make any sense, worried you cant pay the bills then splurge on crap?

Does it make sense that they ALREADY have 2 desk tops then buy a laptop? and on top of they they bought a 30k brand new car? but they cant spare the money to buy and replenish food when it runs out that she's GOT to monitor you when you eat or make food?

Every time i make a sandwich she stares and watches me like a hawk. It's annoying and it piss's me off because she'll sit there and make one with 3-4 slices of what ever plus everything else and if i try it i get scolded like a child about over using the mustard or something stupid like getting, omg, can it be? TWO WHOLE SANDWICHES?! OMG i committed such a CRIME! She acts like food cant be re-bought.

[In personal opinion if she's so worried she should have people write down what they took last of so it can be a bit of a groceries list.]

Not micromanage people to the point to where i feel awkward about eating a yogurt or even guilty. SHES CRAZY!

She told my boyfriend she wouldn't buy him a video game because she didn't have the money. Then turns around and buys her husband a PS3 + 4 brand new games. WTH?

Okay, get this. I play World of Warcraft, and I told her that MY mother would allow me to use her home-phone to charge my account so i could play and I would be the one paying my mom for it. HIS mother debated with me on how why i shouldn't do it because then that means that her husband wouldn't be able to play and that would torcher him...who CARES! I certainly don't. If he wants time PAY FOR IT HE'S GOT A JOB AND A RETIREMENT CHECK COMING IN!

She will sit there and treat you like your a retard and spaz out on you when you do something by ACCIDENT, she'll sit there and be like "WELL DUH!!!" and i literally mean that with the exclamation marks her attitude is mangled to the point of no return. She's got an attitude that has no reason to be messed up at all. She's so high-strung and for no reason.

On top of that, i once had a conversation WITH my boyfriend on how i felt and the stupid crap (whom is turning back into a child) went and tattled about me to mommy and daddy and then I GOT CONFRONTED! a conversation that i had with my boyfriend i THOUGHT was private WASN'T. Needless to say i was pissed off and I can't trust him anymore with private conversations and on top of that when he talks he's got a booming voice to where his whisper seems like a YELL! So quiet convo's with him are near impossible. It's a

Answer
As long as you are living there, you have to follow her rules. Yes, I agree they are ridiculous but unless you are paying rent/buying groceries you will have to put up with it. My mom used to have a mind set about food too and we couldn't touch anything in the house. She was always "saving" it for something, usually for company or something for the church, never her own children.

My advice? Get jobs, any jobs, save money and get your own place!

How can I come up with ideas for an argument essay?

Elizabeth

I have looked at hundreds of topics for argument essays but I don't have strong opinions about any of them one way or the other. I tried writing on a couple of the topics I found but I couldn't think of anything to say. The assignment is due very soon. Please help.
@Mike: Thanks for the suggestion but you have just demonstrated why I think this assignment is stupid and pointless. An argument essay is just stating the obvious that most people already know. One silly little essay is neither long nor complex enough to solve any social problems. So what is the point? Am I supposed to regurgitate information that I've obtained from the work of others?

Answer
Here's a few ideas............

Argue whether or not senior citizens, at a certain age, should have to re-take their driving test every year or every 3 years, or whatever, due to dimentia or a rise in dimentia and altzheimers. You could easiy research accident statistics for different age groups as well as dimentia statistics.

Argue whether or not electric cars can really work. There are charging stations on the east coast and on the west coast, but not many in the rest of the United States. This means that people can't travel as far as they would with gasoline. (I really don't understand why though because can't they just plug them in somewhere else?) Anyway, this is a recent topic.

Argue that we should be drilling for oil in Alaska, as Sarah Palin has been fighting for.

Argue whether or not the Tea Party will last and stand up to the Republican and Democratic parties.

Argue whether it is really feasible to have solar power in houses due to the extremely high cost of equipment needed for solar power. How long would someone have to live in their house to pay off the equipment and actually start saving money over electric power.

Argue why cable and dish network prices keep on rising. It's ridiculous. They say it's so that they can put more satellites in space but how many do we need.

Argue about whether or not children should have an obligation to take care of their parents once they can't take care of themselves as they do in china and japan and some other countries. In the U.S. we stick them in a nursing home and some other places that don't take good care of them and are actually abusive to them because there isn't enough money to put them in a decent place.

Argue about why 1 in 5 kids go to bed hungry in the U.S. every night when there are people in this country who have so much money. How many millions does one person need? Michael Jordan just put his mansion up for sale and it has 18 bathrooms in it. I know he worked for it but still.......!

Argue about the influence and affect to education, cell phones have had on school kids and at what age should they have a cell phone.

*****Argue about why there are kids shooting in schools, killing teachers and other kids, a few times each year. This is happening more and more. Columbine high school was the first, I believe, and that was in 1999. There have been 31 school shootings since columbine and only 14 school shootings in the rest of the world. There's a lot of info on this subject. Do we need metal detectors in every school? Should they be in elementary schools? Middle schools? Only high schools? Is there another solution?

What is the argument strongest against capital punishment?

D Lin

What do you think is the strongest argument against capital punishment is?
What are two of the best reasons to not have capital punishment?

Answer
There are no good reason's to oppopse capital punishment.

Here are my reason's for the death penalty:

-it serves due justice (the punishment fits the crime), and serving due justice is the NO.1 job of a court of law
-it shows that we are tough on crime
-it gets bang for the taxpayers buck
-criminals given the DP have a 0% recidivism rate
-It holds people responcible for the horrible content of their character. This fulfills what MLKJ always wanted: judge not by the color of your skin, but by the content of your character. The characterof these criminals warrants death
-It holds the criminal responcible for his actions
-appeals and **** aside, it's cheaper then prison
-it decreases the prison population, which saves even more taxpayers money
-Because the death penalty is the punishment given by a neutrel judge, there is no vengance in it. Therefore, there is no moral objection to be had with the death penalty.
-The death penalty defends human rights by establishing a mentality that "we will not tolerate any violation of any innocent person's human right's

And here are my deconstruction of the reason's against it

-The Death Penalty is an act of vengeance.
Capital Punishment couldnât be an act of vengeance when the judge who sentences these monsters to death is a neutral decider. The criminal never did anything to the judge, and he never did anything to the citizens on the jury. The criminal is condemned by unbiased forces that hear the evidence and then come to a decision; therefore, there is no vengeance in the death penalty. The only vengeance that anybody has to take in regards to capital punishment is the victimâs family, and they do not get to decide what happens to the criminal.
-The Death Penalty is racially biased.
How quickly America forgets about this line from the pioneer of African-American rights, Martin Luther King Jr.: âI have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.â Should the character of these criminals just be shoved out the door simply because they are in a minority? No way! Claiming that capital punishment is âracially biasedâ is judging a criminal by the color of their skin, not the content of their character. Luther would never have wanted that.
-The death penalty is economically biased.
Now this is just anti-American. We also might as well have communism so that way everyone has an âequal chance.â In America-a nation whose economy is free enterprise-people can afford better cars than others, better houses than others, better doctors than others, and in this case, better lawyers than others. Justice is not supposed to be for sale, but here is the equalizer with the court system: everyone that is charged with a crime is given a lawyer. Not everyone is given a car, a house, or a doctor, but everyone is given a lawyer. It doesnât matter that people like O.J Simpson can afford a top-of-the-line lawyer like Johnny Cochran. By that logic, it is also not fair that Magic Johnson can afford top-notch health care for his HIV infection while others canât, and that athletes like Chauncey Billups and Pudge Rodriguez get millions of dollars a year for playing a game while other professions-like doctors and teachers-donât get a quarter as much. Life is not always fair, and America is not a nation of Robin Hood economics and laws, end of story.
-The death penalty is unconstitutional according to the 8th Amendment
If that was the case, then the judges in previous generations wouldnât have condemned atrocious criminals to the electric chair, and they wouldnât have punished them through hangings. This generation is the most desensitized generation in American history. Previous generations would puke if they saw movies like Saw, The Decent, Cry Wolf, and Wolf Creek. On the other hand, this generation enjoys and sometimes even laughs at these slasher films; so for many of todayâs Americans and judges to claim that capital punishment is âcruel and unusualâ is just hypocritical.
Not only is the death penalty not unconstitutional; methods like lethal injection arenât harsh enough. If a man rapes a woman or molests little children, he should be castrated, put in a jail cell where he is allowed to writhe in pain for 24 hours, and finally executed via shotgun. If somebody stabs a blameless person to death, he should be guillotined. And if someone chokes a guiltless person to death, like Steven Grant did, he should be hung high to dry. The punishment should fit the crime, and there is nothing âcruel and unusualâ about it.
-Innocent victims may die through the death penalty, because for every seven people we put to death, one is exonerated.
This is bizarre:: The public says that it is perfectly fine to be promiscuous because thereâs âonly a 15 percent chance of contacting an STD,â even though STDâs can prematurely take your life; yet itâs not okay to rightfully punish evil monsters because of the âintolerably highâ error rate of 17 percent. That is hypocrisy at its worst; not to mention terribly immoral.
If Americans are so worried about âinnocent victimsâ dying, then convicted felons should not be punished at all. What if âinnocent victimsâ are sent to jail for life? One out of seven people is just not that much at all, and as DNA evidence becomes more available, the amount of not guilty people that are put on death row is only going to get smaller and smaller (it is actually now at a 95% success rate)
The death penalty is 100 percent justified and 100 percent morally right. It is the punishment that America must use on all heinous criminals, and reestablishing it as a national reprimand will greatly help restore the United States to what it once was until morals became relative: a nation that does what is ethical, not what is popular

best electric cars for 2011 image

I mean like when EVERYONE will have an electric car, and when they cost the same, or even less than the cars we have now.
what year?

Answer
2040 or 2050 at a rough guess :p

Plug in electric cars like the Volt and a new Prius that can go 40-60 miles on batteries will be out by 2011 or so. I expect that by 2020 there will be affordable plug in models for the general consumer. Another 10 years for almost all cars bought to be electric, and then another 10 or so years to phase out the petrol ones.

How Much do Electric Cars Cost?

Erin Jones

there are several new electric cars cumming out the next few years. I love the idea of electric cars and i would love to own one. unfortunately i could never afford a Tesla roadster or something like that. what are some affordable electric cars or cheep electric cars for sale that i could possibly buy in the next couple of years.
also is there a good source for finding information on electric cars online

Answer
As an electric car owner i know it can be difficult to make a decision on buying an electric car. since electric cars haven't been around for that long most of us don't know much about electric cars and this makes it difficult to make a informed decision regarding a electric car purchase.

you are right in that there is several new electric cars soon to be released and some that are already available. hear is a few affordable electric cars that you should look into.

The GEM e2 $7,495 MSRP
this inst what most people are looking for when they want to buy a "electric car" but it is very affordable is this is the sort of car you are looking for.

The Ford Focus Electric $ ??,???
ford has not announced a official price for this car but many believe it will be in the lower 30K range.
if you look at some of the pictures of the inside of this car you will find it is absolutely beautiful. and loaded with technology

Mitsubishi I-MiEV price < $30,000
Mitsubishi has also yet to announce the price of the upcoming I-MiEV but they claim it will cost less than 30,000 the rumor is that this car will have excellent acceleration even when compared to gasoline engines

Honda Fit EV $29,990
Take your typical Honda Fit and remove the engine gas pipe and and gas tank. replace those with electric engine and lithium ion batteries and you've got the Honda Fit EV. there are other differences as well but the EV will be very similar to the Honda Fit gasoline

Nissan Leaf $25,280
this is the car that in my opinion most other electric car companies will model there cars after. it has more features than most of the electric cars on the market and cost much less. i believe ford might be able with the Nissan leaf as far as features go but most believe the ford focus electric will not be nearly as affordable as the Nissan leaf.

Chevrolet Volt $32,780
i personally own this car and i love it. it was one of the first electric cars released and unlike most of the electric cars around it has been Time Tested and has proven to be a great car. i also love that you can use gasoline if you need to!

to help answer you question about finding i good source for electric car information i got all my information from personal experience and from this article

I dont know anything about the difference between nitro rcs and regular... I was looking for a site that could explain the differences and what i would need when purchasing one. I looked at a site that showed the different rcs and one of them had nitro rcs and then another had nitro rcs packaged deals, whats the difference. THank you, I hope I wasn't too confusing.

Danny

Answer
Basically there are 3 types of hobby spec RC cars; electric, nitro and petrol.
Don't think the electric ones are the toy ones people get at Christmas when they're kids, they're not. Nitro RC cars are the ones with the little screaming engines, that only run on special fuel and not petrol. Then there are petrol powered RC cars which are huge and hugely expensive.

Different sites will sell batteries and fuel with the cars, called a package deal, others just sell the cars and you have to buy the fuel and batteries separately.

If you have Adobe Acrobat Reader, take a look at this...

Answer
The electric cars for kids are not new on the market and they are becoming more and more sophisticated with the development of this segment of the toy industry. You can readily get one of these for your kid. He or she will definitely love playing with it outdoors. You will also have the peace of mind that your youngster is perfectly safe while having fun. Still, most parents think that it is very easy for such a car to be chosen. The truth is that this is not the case - you can choose from numerous models with different specifications. Here are some tips that will aid you in making the right choice.

The voltage of the battery is essential. The 12 volt models are the most widely available ones. The battery can last for a couple of hours and get charged overnight, which is convenient for both children and parents.

How long do you think a starter engine will last if used to power a childs electric car.?

non spinne

I have the bright idea to use a very powerful harley starter engine to power a car that I will weld together. I'm thinking of using my bikes orig tire with spockets in the rear and two smaller wheels in the front. Then I'll bolt in a 5 point harness (baby seat) onto the frame. I'll give it some whiskey bars and paint it flat black. Also if anyone could give me pointers on how the thottlw would work, that would be nice too. It will run off of a 12 volt. I've seen this size starter push a road king, so I assume that under light use, the starter could go a long way before burning up. FYI, this will be safe. I'm going to give it a 3 piston brake soft tail brake.
the first guy mentioned "because it has three speeds"...on the washing machine engine. I'd like to contoll the amperage that the motor is getting, so I will be contoling the speed and that is where I'm getting the idea that it will have a longer life span...whata u think?
I can weld.. and I have a welder. I'll stick weld it. It's not going to be pretty, but it will be strong. ...if I do it. Did the skateboard give out, or did you get a lot of life out of it. I know these things burn up fast, we are talking about using 5% of the power..and not for an extended amount of time. I really appreciate everyones responses.

Answer
A starter motor is incredibly powerful but not a great choice as the power requirements to make it run are atrocious, using a large lead acid would probabl only last about 2-3 minutes and lead acid is pretty much your only choice when running this much current. Your better bet is a DC motor that is higher voltage such as those used for electric bike kits,a dryer motor would be useless because its a DC motor. You may find a good powerful DC motor on ebay for less then a hundred bucks.

I would like to have a designated solar panel electric system to charge an electric car. Can it be designed as a Portable system to take with me if and when I move to a new house? Or can one be designed as a portable system to take in the car and used to charge the car when needed?

Answer
First we need to examine the required parameters. "An electric car battery" is not a standard item. The Volt and I-Miev batteries are 16KW-hr. The Leaf battery is 24KW-hr and the Tesla Roadster battery holds 53KW-hr of energy. The larger the capacity the longer it will take to charge all else being equal.

The second issue is time. Even from the grid you can charge your electric vehicle with a Type I charger at low voltage and amperage or a Type II charger at a higher voltage and amperage. The Type II charger is likely to be 4 times as fast. The same will be true of the size of the solar panel array.

As long as a solar panel will add more to batteries than the losses it will charge the vehicle. So are we considering only standing losses of about 3% per month, daily driving up to the battery range of the vehicle, or do you want to consider the continuously running the vehicle? Lets use the Nissan Leaf as an example:

The leaf battery is 24KW-hr. In a month such a battery would lose about 3% of its charge just sitting around. This amounts to (24 x .03) .72KW-hr / month. On a daily basis this would be (.72 x 12/365) .02KW-hr Solar insolation varies by location and time of year. The daily average in Arizona at the peak time of the year is about 7KW-hr / sq meter / day. Solar panels vary in efficiency but 10% is not an unreasonable number with today's technology. This would give us .7KW-hr of electricity / sq meter for our panels and a maintenance panel would only have to be (.2/.7) .286 sq meter in size. This would probably fit on your dashboard and such items are already sold: http://compare.ebay.com/like/320700323984?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar

If however you anticipated using the full EPA range of the vehicle on a charge (73 miles) you would need 24 KW hr / day. Our best case solar panels would then have to be (24 / .7) about 34.29 sq meters (or 369 sq ft in size) This would approximately be equal to a surface area of 8 feet by 46 feet long. While this is hardly portable there have been some efforts to combine stationary and portable solar panels to drive electric cars: http://puregreencars.com/Green-Culture/Around-the-World-with-Solar-Taxi.html Here also is a portable solar panel trailer: http://www.grc.nasa.gov/WWW/Electrochemistry/doc/trailer_fc.html There are solar cars but these are not passenger vehicles. They are built ultra light and efficient: http://electric-vehicles-cars-bikes.blogspot.com/2009/10/solar-car-uses-less-power-than-toaster.html

Last if you were to try to power your Nissan Leaf continuously like a solar vehicle we might derive that the Leaf would require (24KW-hr/73 miles) about .329 KW-hr/mile. Traveling at 60 mph in one hour the vehicle would need 19.72 KW-hr / hour or about a 20 KW power supply. Commercial solar panels you might put on the roof of your house are rated from about 165 watts to just over 300 watts power output. You would need from about 66 to 121 of these panels to continuously power the vehicle. A genset trailer might be a better option: http://www.evnut.com/rav_longranger.htm

Do you think electric cars with generators should also be careful?

Melissa

Electric cars are great for the environment. However people fail to address its other problem. Million's of electric cars on the highway could produce a tremendous amount of magnetosphere. How do we approach the matter?

Answer
The magnetic fields inside electric motors really do not travel very far. It's likely that you would not be able to detect magnetic fields even with a compass from 10-20 feet away.

How do I motorize my bike?

tehman

My bike is a BMX or racing bike. I already have an electric motor (the kind you put in those mini Jeeps for kids) what else do I need, how do I make it legal in Louisiana, and please give me some blueprints or instructions on how to build it. I might be able to use a car motor but before you give me directions on how motorize it with a gas motor please show me how to motorize it with an electric motor.

Answer
Here's a site with 280 electric bike owner's descriptions, that should give you a good idea of what's practical, I didn't see BMX styles.

I can ride a bike and walk but there are some places you just can't walk to. What do you do? What can we do?

Answer
despite what people think, USA has cheep gas compared to the world... even tho its outrageous (expected to hit 7 USD's this summer). If you live in town and do not have kids, consider buying an electric assisted bike. ( http://www.thegostore.com/cosoxbelmo.html ) there; cheep to buy, street legal, can be driven on the side walk, do not require a license, and you don't have to pay any taxes on them.
if you have a family and kids and live in the city. consider buying a electric converted Geo metro.( http://e-volks.com/index.html ) They cost as much as the average used car. They cost less to operate ( less then .06 USD a mile) and are perfect for in city driving

if you travel more then 70 miles a day.....
you should buy a fuel efficient car.. like a Honda that gets 70 mpg

What are some activities you do when babysitting?

Zoey

I babysit alot the activities can be for any age of children. I'm just looking for a really long list of activities that are kind of time consuming and a lot of fun, for both me and the kids thanks!

Answer
-Make play dough! http://www.busybeekidscrafts.com/Salt-Dough-Recipe.html
You can even take a small food storage container (of yours) to have the kids decorate with stickers, etc. that will hold their play dough it.

-Decorate a pillow case/T-shirt/etc..
Bring your accessory that you are going to color on. Take some permanent markers for them to use, but make sure they don't write on anything else- include themselves.

-Go outside!
Play with chalk.
Blow bubbles. (you can even make them)
Take a walk/bike ride
Visit a park
Have a picnic
Bring some water guns
Do a scavenger hunt: Have them find a pink flower, a blue car, etc.

-Have a dance party!
Put some songs like: The Macerana, the twist, chicken dance, hokey pokey, electric slide, etc. on a CD or a playlist on your ipod. Turn off the lights, expect for some dimmed ones or a lamp. Try to get a diso ball. (glow sticks if the kids are above the age of 7) Freeze dance for the little ones!

-Play games!
Hide and seek
Twister
Go fish
Slap Jack
Candy Land
Bowling (use soup cans as pins, and a ball)

-For girls: Do a pedicure!
Take a large bowl, if you have one and put a towel under it. Fill it up with warm water and bubbles/soap. Let her sit on the coach with her feet in the bowl. Massage her feet, then paint her toes.

-Frost cookies!
Make the cookies at your house and take them with to avoid using their stove! Bring along some frosting and sprinkles. Have them decorate their own. Rice krispies also work but are quite messy!

-ColoIring
You can take big poster boards and stamps, stickers, markers... Or you can print off coloring sheets, and have them make their own coloring book. Drawing contests for older kids are always fun!

-Build a "tent!"
Very fun in my opinion. Put chairs in a circle, and lay a big blanket on top! Crawl in and enjoy.
I love going "camping" with this idea. Set up the tent, roast marshmallows in the microwave, do a scavenger hunt, etc.

- Balloon games..
This is only good for kids older than about 5... The little ones can choke on broken balloon pieces. Play "keep it in the air" or do the game with the balloon tied to your ankle. Make sure to clean up!

-Limbo...

-Movie "theater"
Bring 4-5 movies for them to pick from, make tickets, have a concession stand.
A fun idea with this topic is if you can bring some large cardboard boxes to make fake cars out of and have a pretend drive in movie.

Just be creative!!

How can I come up with ideas for an argument essay?

What is exactly going to happen on December 21st 2012?

Answers4Yo

I heard that it is going to be a visual event that happens every 26,000 years or so. Does anyone have knowledge of what is going to happen?

Answer
The people making up the wild and crazy claims about "doomsday" in 2012 are grifters and liars. Some want your money (BUY MY BOOK!) and some just want notoriety. The claims themselves are nonsense. It is INSULTING to anyone with even a High School education in science that these people are allowed to espouse and print such ridiculous lies.

If I claimed that tomorrow the Sun would turn pink and bunnies would take over the world, you might suggest that I seek psychological help, yet when someone like Patrick Geryl says that "streams of positive ions will push the South Pole over making the Earth flip" like a pancake... or a crepe (he IS Belgian), you hardly EVER hear anyone say "Is he forgetting to take his meds?" It is just silly!

So often in Y!A we hear people say "scientists say..." or "look at the evidence that civilizations collapse every 3600 years" when NOT ONE of these people have ever even taken a science class. That much is obvious. Please disregard any such statements and only treat claims with some citations as at all likely. For example there is a nice NASA site in astrobiology which debunks nearly ALL the 2012 claims very neatly... and don't forget Penn & Teller! They show, with a healthy dollop of humor, just how laughable all the hoaxers are.... I LOVED the guy with the styrofoam balls on the strings!

Don't worry about 2012. Worry about your kids growing up to be sociopaths or not growing up at all simply because you forget to buckle them in your car. Worry about the government selling mining rights to big oil companies that want to drill for Natural Gas within a mile of old atomic bomb tests. (If you live in Colorado... switch to electric stoves)

There is plenty of real things to scare you in this world, you don't have to make anything scary up.

OK, so now that we have batteries that can complete high speed, long range comute's without recharging why is it every hybird car look's like it came off the side of a Chevron gas pump or a Kid's Kar toy box. Why must they all be so God awful UGLY? Yes, even the TESLA. Personaly I think it looks like a kind of tricked out Mazda or @ best a BMW /4 which is not that bad but still leaves ALOT to be desired. Why not an electric Panoz or replica Ferrari 328? need a 4 seater? How about a 12volt BMW 850 or Duracell 612 Scaglietti, let's get with it and send the Prius and Fit to the boneyard before they takeover the small minds of mush that are our kids.

Answer
hybrid cars are slow. And heavy. If you want a hybrid car that looks neat, then buy the car, and turn it into a hybrid or electric car. High performance car companies aren't interested in that market, because the majority of people would never be interested in a Ferrari that has the added weight of 10 batteries. They're finely balanced, performance machines - and hybrid's just arent. They have small narrow tires for minimal drag, and ugly aerodynamic designs. I guess trying to save the environment comes at a cost.
