Am I missing anything?

Me & Me

I'm nine weeks pregnant, and I already went shopping for baby stuff, in yellow because I don't know the sex. Is there anything you can think of that I could be missing? I'm not going to shop for clothes until I know the sex, though.

What I have bought:
Size 1 Pampers
Cherry wood crib that forms into a daybed, then toddler bed
Mattress
6 - 5 oz. baby bottles and extra nipples
Stage one toys and movies
Baby books
Infant car seat
Stroller
Changing Station
Baby hangers
Dresser
High Chair
Bouncer
Crib sheets and blankets
Reciving Blankets
Nursery Decor
Stuffed animals
Infant swing
Bibs
Burp-up Towels
Bottle scrub brush
Einstein Play Gym
Baby Moniter
Breast Pump and supplies
Safety gates
Safety Cabinet locks
Electric socket covers
Doctor suggested Medicines
Bathing Materials
Grooming Materials
Baby bath seat
Glider
Okay so I need a Bumbo seat, a Jumperoo, Newborn diapers, bigger bottles, a Boppy, a CD player and classical music and bible bedtime stories! Anything else?
Oh, Vaseline! Great idea!
I am planning to breastfeed, but I have to have bottles for when I go out to feed it with pumped breast milk.

Answer
There's a good chance you won't need newborn size diapers, they will give you some in the hospital and there's a good chance that by the time you are through those your wee one will be in size 1.
You will want a baby thermometer, a nasal aspirator, and infant acetaminophen (Tylenol). Those are things you will want to have on hand. I needed mine the week after I brought my little one home.

I would wait though, there's a good chance you will get many of those things as gifts.

There are some things on your list that you won't need:

Baby hangers - trust me, you won't use them longer then a few days.
Stuffed animals - they are a hazard in cribs and your baby won't even notice them until they are much older

Some of the things you will not need until MUCH later (play gym, toys and movies, safety gates, cabinet locks, outlet covers, bath seat, Bumbo (we have one that we didn't even use, I would wait to get that until you feel you NEED it, many babies won't even use one), high chair), but if you have the space to store it then it can't hurt.

I am not trying to bring you down or anything, but just trying to give you a realistic idea of what you need (and don't need).

Good luck :)

babysitting question?

music14

I've been babysitting this 3 year old boy for a couple days now, and I've run out of ideas. Whenever he comes to my house, I let him 'play' on the electric guitar, we color, play hide and seek, etc. But I'm running out of ideas? I babysat him today at his house, and he got bored quickly. He likes drawing/painting/coloring. He really likes 'connecting' things like papers with tape or toys. He likes puzzles too, but we've done all those things. Any ideas?

Answer
My brother is 3 & sounds te same way as him. Somedays we just put in a movie and relax. Some of his favorite are Toy Story,Cars, How to train a Dragon, Bolt, and Scooby Doo. I understand that not
all kids are the same and some won't sit still long enough to watch a movie. If he likes connecting things Mabye try blocks. He can construct and line up the blocks. For arts and crafts... try going online and finding printable coloring pages about stuff he likes. There are TONS of websites such as⦠www.coloringbookfun.com is a greAt one. Also take him outside and trace yourself on the sidewalk and decorate them⦠the kids I babysitt have loads of fun doing that. Also there are many online games for toddlers!
Good Luck(:

i wanna buy electic car from where need answer ?

A RAYMAN

hi i am looking to buy car which can run by electric charge per charge should be 300 miles . is have any this kind of car .. ???

Answer
There is no electric car for sale on the open market, because Chevron, Toyota and GM conspired to eliminate plug-in cars by stopping use of the proven NiMH Nickel batteries.

You can put in an order for the Tesla, but it will take until 2010 for delivery, there is a backlog. And the Tesla uses inferior Lithium batteries which don't have the lifespan of the NiMH.

Just recently, on Mar. 27, the California Air Resources Board agreed to let GM out of their promise to build either fuel cell cars or battery EVs.

We know they can do so, they just don't want to.

who killed the electric car?

colton m

GM killed it and todaay announced they will have an electric car by 2010 but also stated a 10% chance it won't work and will only go 40 miles. It's a dirty joke on the public. OIl and money controls us. They don't care if it makes the middle east rich and pollutes our air. It's all about money. I wouldn't buy a GM car or any of their products. The whole deal STINKS! What say you?

Answer
Don't wait for GM. And don't listen to the people who are trying to tell you there's been no progress in battery research in 30 years. Take a look at this vehicle, which is being manufactured right now:
*
http://phoenixmotorcars.com/models/fleet.html
*
The Phoenix electric pickup truck - using new, advanced Altairnano batteries (based on research from MIT) - can:

-Travel up to 250 miles per charge
-Carry 5 passengers plus cargo at 95mph.
-Charges batteries in as little as TEN MINUTES.
-Has batteries that last 250,000 miles (never need replacement.)

Who thinks we need electric cars now?

Jimz

I think so cuz of global warming and the "Aptera" is the perfect car to drive, it goes 300 miles per charge for a hybrid, and goes 120 miles for all electric, the charging takes a couple of hours and doesn't cost alot to charge (a few dollars) the all electric cost about $26,000 the hybrid cost about $30,000. Think about you don have to buy gas anymore with the all electric you can learn more about this and reserve one now at http://www.aptera.com/ P.S there's also a video on youtube about this car

Answer
What your describing is far from perfect for a vast majority of people. I have 3 kids and a wife, only one of whom will fit in that thing. I don't have off-street parking available, so where do I plug it in? My workplace also does not have dozens of outlets in the parking lot, so same question. I live in Wisconsin, which gets pretty cold. Will the all electric model run at all when it's -10° outside? If I run out of juice halfway to where I'm going, I'll have to sit somewhere (with an outlet) for a "couple hours". Plus, the thing looks like a death trap. I'm not paying $26K for George Jetson's golf cart, no matter how much gas costs.
What I "need" is for our pansy politicians to quit pandering to the environmentalists and start drilling anywhere there's a trace of oil to be found under American soil. By the time all the oil dries up many decades from now, we'll have perfected hydrogen, fuel cells, fusion, or who knows what. It's not like all the oil will just suddenly vanish and the next day we'll be out of gas. Electric is nowhere near a perfect solution right now.

Which of these cars would you?

Krazyk78

Which of these cars would you buy and why?

a) toyota camry
b) toyota prius
c) subaru legacy
d) honda accord
e) honda civic.

thanks for your opinions.

Answer
if I have a family (i.e., kids, wife) i would choose the Camry or Accord depending on the price tag. I like both of these cars because they are very reliable, safe, good on gas consumption. If well maintained these two manufacturers can last up to 15+ years or 200k+ miles easily. Ohh! these are facts by the way there are data proving these claims (Consumer's Report). In the long run you can save thousands of dollars because you don't have to buy another car for the next decade.

Now, if I was still young and active the Honda Civic will be my choice to drive around the cities because this car is very popular amongst the 18+ age group. This is also a good second car or a daily driver, meaning you can drive to work and school everyday without worrying about breaking down on you. The car is very lightweight and small that it will save you money on gas.

As of today, Toyota Prius is the ultimate electric-gas powered (Hybrid) vehicle in today's automotive market. Environmentalist like this particular model because it's practically almost emission-less. The technological combination of electric and gas translates to less emission of carbon monoxide, which is the leading cause of global warming. In addition, this car can also save you gas money.

Quiet electric cars...?

(i)(i)(i)

Why does everyone say they are dangerous because you can't hear them?.
They is a pathetic little electric car that is driven about in the village where I live and it's Louder then normal cars!

Answer
There are many "myths" about electric cars. Here is a list of 12 of them: http://www.pluginamerica.org/images/Top%20EV%20Myths.pdf

Do you recall the debate about hands free cell phones? It was revealed at that time that coffee cups in the hand, talking in the car, and even listening to the radio pose problems, yet we don't ban those things. It was talking on the cell phone not holding one in your hand that was distracting to drivers, yet lawmakers gave us hands free cell phone laws with some self satisfaction.

Some suggest putting noisemakers in electric cars, but the problem is not that electric cars are too quiet but that other cars make so much noise that we are used to them. For the hearing impaired and the blind a better solution would be to have the car transmit a signal that could be converted to a proper signal (light, sound, vibration) the handicapped could carry with them.

Alternatively you could use cars like these: http://pesn.com/2007/09/15/9500498_WhisperT_inflatable_electric_car/

2 months before new years...?

why

as soon as january hit you saw a lot of questions about mothers day (ok thats a SLIGHT exxageration). Father's day is two days away and I haven't seen much. Do the ladies really know what daddy wants? (i'm skeptical), Do you care? (thats a cynical thought, but the consensus says...)
real talk-i have contributed a great deal of sperm to the condom factory, should send them something?
Sarah-waiting until the last minute make it more meaningful. you know you love that refrigerator dress the hubby got you last year. and remember the iron? Those shirts are still crispy starched aren't they

Answer
I got cards from the kids to give him, a card from me, a couple of nice polo shirts, and new grooming set complete with waterproof electric shaver and trimmer, and both kids made him something.

For mother's day he just asked me what I wanted!!! Can't go wrong that way. I got a nice "himcooked" (lol) steak dinner with a nice glass of wine along with my car detailed by my oldest son (6 almost 7). It was the perfect day!!

Answer
Ask about accidents and recent service

when you look over the car, look down the sides of the car to see if its been hit, look at the oil see if its clean, rub the oil between your fingers to feel for metal shavings( you dont want any) pull the tranny fluid stick smell it-does it smell fresh or burned. feel it with your fingers for metal shavings.
test all the lights and turn signals, make sure there are no shorts, test ac wipers electric windows etc
look at the tires for wear or uneven wear
look underneath for rust
drive the car, does it wander off the road or track straight
does it shift firmly. check for check engine light
drive the car to a clean area and let it idle, then back up and see what leaked out if anything

Electric car question...?

Greg J

Why aren't they equipped with generators to charge the batteries while the car is in motion?
Nata T, That's what I was thinking. The batteries move the car which in turn move the wheels. Can't the turning of the wheels be used to operate the generator?
Querita Q, a list building website? Link makes no sense.

Answer
Because that is against the law. Not silly man made laws, it's against the laws of nature and the universe. A generator needs power to make it turn then producer power. So a generator on a cat needs an power source, that source would be an engine. The engine would be big enough to power the car and the generator would be twice as big and use twice the fuel. SORRY, THAT's a LOSER.

NOW, the hybrids get their extraordinary mileage because they do have generators that charge the batteries. The generator is connected to the wheels, when ask the car to stop, the generators are the brakes. Instead of using friction to stop the car, the generator kicks in and takes the energy in the cars motion and makes electrical energy. Look up REGENERATIVE BRAKING.

If you never use the brakes in a hybrid, then you'd get worse mileage than in a gasoline engine car that never uses it brakes too. The reason, the extra weight from the batteries and electric motor wastes fuel.

Electric car conversion?

Shana B

I would love to buy a converted electric car. My husband needs to drive 30-40 miles on the highway (speed limit 55mph) each way to work. We live in NY. Any suggestions, ideas?

He has an SUV right now and regular gas costs $4.19 by us now. He looked into a motorcycle b/c of the good gas mileage but I'm scared he'll get killed or hurt driving that.
I can't afford $100K for a Tesla :)

Answer
I will be converting my friend's 15 year old Honda Civic to be 100% electric in a few weeks. The total cost I figure is around $7000 as I'm not charging for my labor and he will be assisting me in the process. I put myself through school as a mechanic and now I work as an engineer for various companies so I have the skill and tools required for the job. Since there are only a handful of companies doing car conversions no two are alike.

Given the range your husband drives to work an electric car is a practical solution. You might try ebay for a converted car already for sale or if you're ambitious and skilled do it yourself.

You may find someone in your area willing to convert a car for you if you decide to take that route. I would suggest finding a good 'donor car' that is relatively lightweight and in good shape i.e.: no rust and since you live in NY that might be difficult to find without going out of state. After the Honda I'm planning on converting a 10 year old Volvo station wagon that has a burned up motor.

Either way let's shove it to the oil companies!

New hobby building electric rc cars?

Howard Bri

Hey everyone I was looking to start a hobby, since i have none aside from fixing cars. I would like to get into building and modding electric rc cars.... unfortunately i cannot find anything on the web, after searching google for an hour, related to specifically what i am looking for. what i would like to know is where to start. what parts to get Ex- chassis (car), suspension, motor, wiring, wheels, and so on. i have no experience with rc cars and so try to dumb things down for me.
tell you what, ill make my chassis and the base, just tell me the parts i need and ill go from there.

Answer
Not knowing just how far you want to get into the meat and potatoes makes it hard to answer your question.

Do you have a CAD program and a CNC? Own or have access to an injection molder? How good are your engineering skills?

Or, are you just looking to build a kit? This is where most everyone starts out. And is by far the best way to start. Another issue is just exactly what type of kit would interest you most: On road, off road, rock crawler, drifter etc. Budget is another factor that you haven't mentioned.

Take a gander at some of the kits offered at online hobby shops like http://www.amainhobbies.com/index.php/cPath/1_44/n/RC-Cars-Trucks-Kits

Stay away from ones with the RTR label as they are already built. Unfortunately, kits are no where near as popular as they used to be. 99% of everyone looking to get into the radio control hobby wants to just put the battery in and run. This means that basically no one makes a kit with everything you need, and there just aren't that many. I can't think of a single one that comes with electronics - so you have to purchase those separately. All kits will list the items you need to complete the build however. Another thing that comes to mind is that the vast majority of kits from the mainstream manufacturers are high end racing machines. They are very expensive. A typical racing kit, with everything (good quality) you need often runs well over $1500.

The brand that offers the most kits is Tamiya. Usually at this point I also recommend staying away from Chinese brands as they often don't have replaceable parts available - but I doubt you can find one of those in kit form anyway.

Finally, I think your best bet is to head over to your local hobby shop and pick their brains. You may find that the racing aspect of radio control holds as much interest for you as building (it does for me!). And many hobby shops support local racing clubs. Or at least can direct you to them. If you don't have anything locally, feel free to shoot me an email with some more specific questions, and I'll do my best to answer.

Best car toys for long trip for almost 2 year old boy?

fuzzlenose

We are driving 21+ hours in the car over 3 days one way and then back again about 2 weeks later.
My son will be 2 in early April. He likes cars, trains, blocks and anything that will keep his interest. My van does have a movie player, but I don't want that to be on all the time. Also snacks here and there will help pass the time.

So far I will be bringing some favorite books, some 'new' ones from the thrift store, a few new matchbox cars, and a cheap $1 electric racing game because he loves pushing buttons. Any other ideas? His sister (4 1/2) will have coloring books and a few crayons, books, 1 barbie, letter workbooks and maybe a color wonder or something. I really want what they do to be clean and easy to pick up. Any extra ideas for her? Oooh, maybe a yarn sewing thing or something...

Answer
You can make your own sewing cards. Get a long pretty shoelace that still has its plastic tip or get some yarn and put glue or tape on the end to make a tip. Punch holes in old greeting cards or glue magazine pictures to cardboard and punch holes in that. If you draw, you can draw your own pictures and let the kids color them before "sewing" them.

Something like a kids' abacus is fun for young ones to play with. They like lining things up and moving them around. Many stores sell things like that.

If you can get a smallish "beads on wires" toy, your son might enjoy it very much. Basically, the toy is self-contained and the child moves colorful beads around on oddly-shaped wires. Even though it is beads, boys like playing with those.

Magnetic doodle boards (Magna-Doodle is the name brand, but smaller ones are often sold in dollar stores) are also good for trips.

Ooops, I almost forgot my parents' best trick for traveling with kids. We generally got a hot dinner at a restaurant, but always did a picnic lunch at a park. The parents relaxed while the kids ran around.

Be sure to save at least one toy as "new" for the ride home.

What are 12v kids electric cars like?

Ryan

buying my nephew one for Christmas. He's 3. Any advice also please.

Answer
PLEASE don't buy one for your nephew! I beg you.

1. He's only 3 years old. What are the odds that he is going to drive into something and get hurt?

2. Kids don't get enough exercise as it is, does he really need an electric car where he just sits in it? Get him a tricycle or something like that where he needs to pedal it.

3. I know you want to be the "cool" uncle, but don't you think a 3 year old with an electric car is pretty spoiled and ridiculous?

Get him a toy where he can burn off some energy (like a bike) or can learn something (like a leapfrog).

Why was the electric car killed?

Q. Who killed it?

Answer
The electric car isn't dead - we just can't wait for the big companies to make them - they don't want to. There are affordable electric vehicles, it's just that most of us don't know about them. Check this out:
*
http://www.squidoo.com/cheap-electric-car/
*
An electric conversion car can be had for as little as $5000, it looks like a normal car, and it does freeway speeds. But what if you want something a little better?
*
The fully practical electric car is finally arriving, thanks to new battery research. Look at this car below - it gets up to 250 miles per charge, holds 5 passengers plus cargo, does 95mph, and can be charged in as little as TEN MINUTES. Yes, it's a real car, it can be pre-ordered right now for delivery THIS YEAR:
*
http://phoenixmotorcars.com/models/fleet.html
*
It's not perfect because it's too expensive (about $45000). But all it takes is for people to start buying them, for the price to come down. Remember when DVD players cost $1000? Some people had to be willing to buy them at that price so that we can have $50 DVD players today.
*
Besides, your operating costs for an EV are far, far lower than a comparable gas vehicle, due to the increased efficiency of electric drive. I know this is true because I drive an EV.
*
I can prove this. About how much does gasoline cost per mile? It varies of course, but it's somewhere around 10 to 15 cents per mile. How much does it cost to drive electric? The Toyota RAV4 EV gets 4 miles per kilowatt-hour. Off-peak (nighttime) electricity costs about 3 to 10 cents per kilowatt-hour, depending where you live. This means driving electric only costs about a penny per mile - MUCH cheaper than gasoline.
*
Why is this so? Fuel is burned wth up to 85% efficiency at power plants, and an electric motor is 95% efficient. In your typical car, gasoline is burned with less than 25% efficiency. Also, distributing electricity by wire to electric cars is 95% efficient, which is far less wasteful than trucking gasoline around the country.
*
Increased efficiency means less costly fuel - and it also means far less pollution, regardless of what is burned at power plants.

Most cheap Hybrid or electric cars around 5-11k Range?

Ichigo

Do you know any Hybrid or electric cars that are have very nice interior and exterior design and are around the 5-11k range.

Answer
Yes, but you'll have to settle for a used electric car or hybrid, or a "conversion". That's a conventional car converted to run on electricity. You'll find some here:
*
http://www.evtradinpost.com/
*
more useful resources:
http://www.squidoo.com/cheap-electric-car
*
I bought a car like one of these several years ago, from eBay, for $2000. The best part of an EV conversion is the low purchase price combined with low operating cost - electricity costs just 2 to 4 cents per mile in most places.
*
Keep in mind that an older electric car (like many of these) will use lead-acid batteries - usually golf-cart style batteries. If the car needs a battery change, the cost will be around $500 - $1000 (Sam's Club has the best prices on these.)

give the name of 5 model of electric car?

Answer
There are very few ALL ELECTRIC vehicles on the market right now.

In the US, we have two being (mass) produced:

Tesla Roadster
Nissan Leaf

Mitsubishi I-MiEV (soon to arrive)

Some companies are experimenting with electric vehicles, like MINI, Smart, Mercedes, VW, and Toyota. Nothing is slated for production yet.

The Prius, Volt, and other hybrids are not electric cars. They are hybrids, meaning they use gasoline engines in conjunction with electric motors and battery packs.

Do you believe DOST should have a big budget in order to make our country a little more progessive?

delive_ran

DOST-Department Of Science and Technology of the Philippines. Technology brought out the Japanese out of the ashes of World War2 and became the leading electronics manufacturer, first in Southest Asia then the world. Now it is Korea's turn to follow the footstep of their rival Japanese, while China is lurking in the shadow. While we are still climbing coconut tree and making tuba for the drinking session this night. Why can't we be like them even half of what they know would be fine. I was also hoping that DOST should be attach to the Philippines military in building weapons for our own defense and offense capability. With the present nano technology we can harness it's potential by making not only body armor steel platted or titanium built for police officers during heavy firefight but could also monitor their pulse/heart and vital sign. I also thought about a shoes that can monitor a person's vital sign from heart/pulse/blood rate all because of a microchip that is embedded in the sole of the shoes and the monitoring screen is place in the wrist just like a watch and small like an MP3. All he/she have to do is turn on to check his/her condition every now and then while at work or at play. I suppose my idea is not appropriate in Philippines condition. Sabi nga mababaw magisip ang Filipino just look at some of the questionnaire here, at mababaw din ang kaligayahan. I know...I know this idea wouldn't work in the Philippines. Thank you for telling me. But still believe that technology is the answer to bring forth our country to another dimension. So what do you think this time?

Answer
The first step is population control. I just watched a segment in the local channel that a mother is doing 5 jobs to support her ten kids. Economics states that there is scarcity of resources, if people keep on multiplying, soon the resources will be depleted. This is the main reason filipinos go overseas, to find better opportunities.

The second step is to down-size the government. We have too many people in the goverment. The rest should be relocated to private companies. There is also too much red tape and lack of trust in the government. If we can almost privatize the governemnt system, wherein the employees have sufficient earnings, I don't think they will still be corrupt. Well, there are minor exceptions, but they should be punished immediately.

The third step is to bring back capital punishment. The government is wasting money prolonging the cases of inmates. We are paying for the regional trial courts, the court of appeals and supreme court. Why in China, after stabbing 28 children, he gets executed the next month. In Singapore, the 23 year old drug dealer caught was hung after only several months. Justice should be swift and fair.

The last step is good coordination. As of now, each department is seeking their own welfare. Just check the roads. After DPWH has repaired a road, here comes MWSS or PLDT destroying the new asphalt and doing what benefits them. That's just unnecessary expenses they will try to recover through their consumers.

So if let's say the Government has already garnered savings from what I've stated above, where shall they invest it? I'd say agriculture and public transport system. We can be the main supplier for asia for rice and sugar. Plus this will also give the farmers better earnings.

For example, Singapore doesn't have rice fields, but they demand rice. That's go with other neighboring countries. The public transport system will do wonders to our financial economy. By car, it takes 1 hour to go from Makati to Ortigas for my meeting at 10 AM. Think about the wasted time here. Think about workers from Makati commuting to Laguna. It takes 2 hours to get home and spend family time.

As for your theory, there was a time that Filipino Inventors gained support from the government. But to do this will be risky also for the government. They have to shoulder losses. It's better to invest in education to produce nuclear scientists and such.

I remember my mother told me that a Filipina sat with her on a plane for a business trip. It turned out the woman was seeking research funding from a foreign country. She has the initial developments of turning soiled water into almost potable water. She went to the government but was not able to get any support. Just think how it can benefit Ilog Pasig if ever it had materialized. Don't think about war or weapons, and how we can eradicate threats.

Think long-term what are the other benefits research can make, like miracle-rice or electric cars, or we can invest in infrastructure. All of our major roads and public transport were done by foreign companies and contractors. We should be innovative and find solutions and how to make this world better and more efficient.

Made where?

Q. Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN) for 6 a.m. While his coffee pot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG). He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA).

After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY) and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN JOB. At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day, Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA), and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in.....AMERICA.....
Yea I know, it wasn't funny...but it's pretty much true.

Answer
LOL sooo true..one time in my AP Euro History class, our teacher told us to check our shirt tags and see if ANY of the shirts were made in America...and only ONE in a class of 32 was made in america, and the kid had paid $200 for it.

Anyone know where I can buy an electric car?

Desertdwel

Gas at Chevron is $4.10. I'm tired of it.

Answer
Unfortunately the only highway capable electric car currently in production is the Tesla Roadster. Another unfortunate thing is all 600 of 2008 units have been sold and many of the 2009 are gone too. Unfortunate number 3 is the price tag is $100,000 and going up due to foreign currency exchange rates.

The next group of electric cars are the Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEV) some times called Low speed Electric Vehicles (LEV). They have an upper speed limit of 25 or 35 MPH depending which state they're in. They are available NOW in almost all states. Google names like ZENN, Dynasty IT, Miles Electric, GEM, ZAP. They are available now but have limitations being designed for putting around within 20 miles of home.

There are a couple of highway vehicles coming before 2010. Both ZENN and Miles plan to have regular sedans ready by 2009. Another is Phoenix Motors with their SUT and SUV. Tesla has already started work on their affordable sedan, code name white star, and hopes to have it on the road before 2010.

2010 is going to be a magic year. Chevrolet will have their Volt ready by November with the 2011 model year. It's not much of an EV, only goes 40 miles on electricity then the gas powered range extender kicks in to power the car. At least 3 Japanese companies, Subaru, Mitsubishi, and Nissan will begin importing full Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) that get at least 80 MPC and more likely 120 MPC.

All I can tell you is, that you'll have to wait. Because in 2003 GM and the other car makers decided to DESTROY all of the EV's they had made in the pursuit of greed. See the film "Who Killed the Electric Car" for all of the idiotic details.

i wanna buy electic car from where need answer ?

A RAYMAN

hi i am looking to buy car which can run by electric charge per charge should be 300 miles . is have any this kind of car .. ???

What Christmas gift can I give to my little niece?

Sophia

My little cute niece is three years old and she is really a little adventurer. She is interested in almost everything. I want to give her a special gift which can help her to explore her little world (in the yard) but it must be safe enough. Do you have any suggestions?
Many thanks!

Answer
You can give him an electric kids car as a Christmas gift. Then he can enjoy the driving fun. He can also start his adventure by driving around. Isn't this sounds terrific?
Lavadeals.co.uk has many kids ride-ons, you can have a look.

Powering electric cars?

x arcane

Would it be viable (and safe) to power an electric car with a generator (say, a propane-fueled one) instead of batteries?

Answer
Yes, you could. This is called a series hybrid, where the wheels are always driven by an electric motor, and that motor gets its power from batteries sometimes and a generator sometimes. The increase in overall efficiency comes from the fact that the propane (or gas, diesel, or hydrogen) engine driving the generator can be much smaller and runs at a constant speed, which is more efficient than throttling an engine up and down.
BTW, locomotives have been hybrids for 50 years or more.

what is the power consumed by an electric car?

pavan

also I want the statistics of the car.

Answer
A typical electric vehicle charges from your electric outlet, and therefore, from the powerplant at the other end of that wire.
*
Powerplants burn a variety of fuels, including coal, natural gas, hydroelectric, wind, solar, and nuclear.
*
The power grid is about 95% efficient in getting the electricity to the car. Modern battery systems are about 88% efficient in storing it. Electric propulsion systems are about 95% efficient in using the energy to move the car. Electric motors also don't have to idle at stoplights, and reclaim braking energy for re-use.
*
This makes electric cars much more efficient than gas cars, which have gasoline engines that are only 25% efficient. And a lot of that energy is wasted idling and braking. Gasoline also has inefficiencies, since it takes lots of electricity to refine it, and more energy is wasted trucking the final product to your local gas station.
*
Most electric cars get 4 to 5 miles per kilowatt-hour. A kilowatt-hour costs as little as 2 cents in some places, and as much as 20 cents in others. So the cost per mile in an EV runs from half-a-cent up to about 5 cents per mile. In most places, it will cost from 1 to 2 cents per mile. Gasoline, for comparison, is closer to 10 cents per mile and climbing.

who invented electric cars?

Kendal

What country invented electric cars and which country uses them the most?

Answer
Electric taxicabs were the first electric cars, built by the Electric Carriage and Wagon Company of Philadelphia starting in 1896, and used on the streets of New York to deal with the "horse pollution" of the day.
*
The country with the most electric vehicles presently is probably the United States. There are several thousand hobbyist electric cars on the road in the US, joined in 2011 by several thousand Nissan Leafs and Chevy Volts.
*
However, the lead in electric vehicles may not last long. China plans to invest over $15 billion in electric car infrastructure, and sales of the Leaf and Volt will target Europe in 2012, which is likely to be a prime market for electric vehicles - as gasoline is much more expensive in most countries outside of the US. Other electric vehicles in development at various car manufacturers have Europe and Asia as primary marketing targets.

Are electric cars heavy?

crackerjac

And if so, how is the safety subpar compared to piston driven cars?

Answer
Electric cars are slightly heavier than petrol counterparts. Although the electric motor is about 1/4 the the weight of a petrol engine the batteries are far heavier than a fuel tank.

However this weight is generally placed much lower to the ground than in a petrol vehicle. This gives the electric vehicle an unusual amount of stability. Some electric vehicles are virtually un-tipable and with the right tires will have great traction in rain and snow. http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&feature=endscreen&v=2ZFsevYIcpM By comparison an SUV will tend to tip over more easily than most cars due to its higher center of gravity.

Weight is only one factor when considering the safety of a vehicle. Physics dictates that a heavier vehicle will absorb more energy due to its inertial mass. While this suggests that the vehicle may sustain less damage this is not necessarily the case for the occupants. Statistics show that you are slightly more likely to die in an SUV. http://thedetroitproject.com/readmore/myths.htm

Old crash tests only used male dummies while newer tests have included a dummy supposed to represent the size and weight of a female passenger. http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/2011/08/crash-test-101/index.htm

Crash tests of electric cars show that commercial highway rated vehicles perform very well, but as expected cheaper models, sold as low speed vehicles do not perform as well. http://blogs.wsj.com/drivers-seat/2011/04/26/electric-cars-fare-well-in-crash-tests/
