I need help with a word mind-map?

Someone

I was assigned to identify as many and interesting examples of the word "protection" and I was given the example of the white lines on a road as protection. I have came up with a good few but I am now completely empty for ideas. Could you think of any? Thanks.

Am I having seizures?

katarn112

I need another opinion besides just my own on if I should go to the doctor or not about this. It's been bothering me, and I'm scared it's going to keep on happening, or get worse. It started about a month ago, I was sitting in class and I started feeling really neasous/dizzy. I had this strange feeling in my head like it was being squeezed. I was no longer able to understand what my teacher was saying, despite the fact that I could hear her, it just didn't make sense. Then what seemed like a second later I went from sitting in my desk, to being on the ground with my teacher kneeling next to me, and the entire class staring at me. I was completely confused, I had no idea what happened, no memory of how I got there at all. My teacher told me I fainted, and I heard a kid that sat next to me mention that he thought it was a seizure because I was jerking around a little bit. Next thing I know, the paramedics arrive and wheel me into an ambulance and take me to the hospital. This entire time felt dreamlike, I was completely confused as to what was happening.

After this incident, I had a horrible headache for the next 2-3 days. After I was taken to the hospital, they mentioned that they thought it may have been a seizure, after ruling out heart problems. But my idiotic dad was in such a rush to leave, threatening to walk out with me and such, that they just gave up and told me to immediately schedule a follow up with my doctor. I never did.

That was just the first incident. Just a couple days ago, I was playing a computer game like I usually do, and then the next thing I know I wake up on the floor, similar to the first time. After sitting on the floor for a little while, dazed, I felt exhausted and went to bed. I've occasionally woken up with a damaged tongue (bitten up), and I read on the internet that this is common with nighttime seizures.

I'm not sure if this series of events is something to go to the doctors about, I'm not sure if I'm just panicing over nothing. Also, I'm hesitant to go to the doctor, because if it is epilepsy, I don't want my drivers lisence taken away. Do you guys think this is serious? Do you guys think these are seizures, or should I just try and move on and hope it doesnt happen again? I'm 19 btw. Sorry for the essay, theres just so much to it.
Thanks for the replies, I just had enough seizure last night, this time I was awake through the entire thing while I was convulsing. Now all my muscles have been sore all day. You're right, grania, it was reckless to act the way that I did, but I guess I'm kind of half in denial. I'm going to go to the doctors on monday.

Answer
Definitely sounds like an epilepsy problem. I've had a couple that felt like that. The post-ictal headaches are awful. You need to schedule an appt with your doctor and go. They WILL take your licence a short period of time, but you do get it back once your epilepsy is under control. However, you will lose it if it's never under control. This isn't a bad thing though.... do you want to have a seizure when you're driving? Trust me, you think your headaches are bad after a regular one, it hurts about 100 times worse when you wake up with your car wrapped around a pole. I've done that. It's scary, embarrassing, and just all around not good. Get checked.

Until then, here's some safety precautions I use-

KITCHEN:::
.Use a microwave oven instead of a traditional stove.
When using a stove:
- Select a model with controls located at the front .
- Use the back burners whenever possible.
- Use a stove guard which fits around the side of front of the stove.
Buy a kettle and iron with an automatic switch-off.
When loading a dishwasher
- Ensure that knives and other sharp utensils are placed safely out of the way.
- Point blades and other sharp objects downward.
Wear rubber gloves when washing glassware or knives.
Keep regularly used household items, such as kitchen utensils, towels and linens, where they can be easily reached.
Serve food from where it is cooked, directly onto plates. You won't have to carry saucepans or casseroles of hot food.
Avoid:
- breakable dinnerware.
- electric egg beaters.
- electric carving knives.

BATHROOM:::
Never lock the bathroom door.
Take showers rather than baths.
- Sit down when showering.
- Shower only when someone else is at home.
Avoid baths entirely. A sponge bath using the sink is a safe alternative.
Use a rubber bath-mat on the floor of the shower.
Pad the edge of the tub with a folded towel.
Turn on the cold water first, to prevent burns.
Avoid glass shower doors.
Don't allow face cloths or sponges to block the drain, causing the tub to fill with water.
Consider installing doors which swing open in both directions, or a fall-alarm system
