Flybo Electric Car under 10K!

Does anyone have one of these cars? I want to know what you think of them. They have 2 seaters & 4 Seaters very cute. I found them on an Organic website for $8500. today.

The Flybo is being imported as a NEV (neighborhood electric vehicle) sometimes called LEV (low speed electric vehicle). This means it has federally regulated top speed of 25 MPH in most states and 35 MPH in some. They can be driven on streets with a 10 MPH difference in the speed limit i.e. 35 MPH speed limit for the 25 MPH version.

The Flybo can not go on the freeway because it goes to slow and doesn't have the crash protection required. It will work fine for dropping the kid (only 2 seats) off at school, running to the store for groceries or a surface street commute to work. Or if your daughter has her license she can commute to school and you wont have to worry about her getting into vehicular trouble.

I konw someone who has an NEV. He uses it every day to commute 6 miles to work and back. For the one part of his trek that requires higher speed he just simply uses the surface street that runs parallel to the highway. It takes him an extra 5 minutes to get to work (but who's in a hurry anyway) and he has not put 1 gram of pollution into the atmosphere which is his goal. And even better it cost him less than 15 cents a day in "fuel" aka electricity.

They make toy cars with electric motors that kids can drive. Haven't you ever seen the Barbie Corvette? They don't go anywhere near 20 mph. More like a brisk walking speed.

Why would someone cause so much trouble over this little thing?

I have an electric scooter, and I let my friend ride it. He took his little cousin for a ride on it, and in their journey, they rode through an alley behind where my Mom works. Well, a person was backing up, and they had to stop because he was passing by. Well, this person started to freak out, and started screaming at a nearby person, asking if they saw that. Well, this person said they did, and they said "that's Boo's son on his DANG scooter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" (people call Mom Boo.) Well, they started freaking out, and they called Mom to the lobby and started screaming at her to control me (even though it wasn't me). It was all Mom could do to keep them from calling the police! (They love to call the police. Once they even tried to call them because Mom drove the Blazer to work and I took it home like she asked.) They said that he was flying through the alley, and someone could've been killed! Well, Mom made me get the car and chase him down to confiscate the scooter, and she was mad. She started freaking out and yelling at my friend. Well, I know my scooter, and I know that alley. That scooter barely goes 15 mph on flat ground with one person. That alley is very rough, and there were two people on it. It was probably going no more than 10 mph and I doubt that it was even going that fast, as much as my friend cares about his cousin. I talked to him, and he said he wasn't going that fast. Also, the worst thing that could happen even if he was going that fast is a dent in the car and some minor scratches unless some freak thing happened. Everyone is still mad, and my and my friend are mad too- he's mad because everyone is overreacting and yelling at him, and I'm mad because they called my scooter "dang." Why is everyone making such a problem out of this simple event? The way I see it is that it's the car driver's fault since she should've been watching where she was going when backing out from a parking spot. I wonder if it was a car going through, would they call the cops? I don't see the problem. I already asked this in another section yesterday, but only got one answer so far.

What do I need to ride a moped in Arizona?

I am 15 years old and about 2 months (licence and permit still out of reach), I am looking for a simple alternative from walking and standard bikes in order to commute to friends' houses.

Do I still need a special license, a permit or just a normal license in order to operate a moped even if it is not on roads and highways, only within neighborhoods?

Also would I need to register anything? About how much money would I need to spend on additional fees?

Finally, Is a moped even what I am looking for? Is there something easier and cheaper that can accomplish the same tasks, just goes about 20-25 mph and is not like those electric things that only last 10 minutes on charge.

I suggest a bicycle.

I rode one 20 miles to work when I was 18, before I earned enough for a car.

Is it legal to drive with your kid in a Baby Bjorn carrier?

I always wondered, and then I saw on some tabloid progam that the guy from Red Hot Chili Peppers was driving around with his kid strapped to him in a Baby Bjorn carrier. Is that OK? Since you would have the seatbelt on, technically the kid is belted, too. Or is it illegal? What if the airbag went off? Of course this guy was driving an electric car, so probably the max speed is like 10 MPH.

100% illegal. All children under the age of 18 must be seatbelted in their own seatbelt (can't share) and children under 4 years old and 40 lbs must be in a state approved carseat. Children under 1 year old and 20 lbs must be rearfacing in the carseat.

What kind of R/C truck would you recommend for a 10 year old?

I'm 14 and I have a T-MAX 2.5. I want something for my brother that is pretty fast but isn't 40+mph. I don't want to get him a T-MAX or Revo because he'll just blow it up, jump it off a cliff, or make it fall into the creek. Would the electric Stampede be alright? What would you suggest?

Car Guy is right, for a 10 year old don't spend a fortune on one until he gets older. The high tech ones need too much maintenance for a kid.

Is this insurance fraud?

my husband and i rear ended someone at 2-4 mph,we hit their passenger corner with the our driver corner.
Now we are being billed fro $10,000 chiropractic bills for husband, wife and 2 toddlers. we received $1,000 bill for repair to the car but the estimate was only $300 (they took the car twice 6 month apart!) we are receiving $500 in maid bills.

it just seems drastic to me. taking kids to chiropractor, hiring a maid and taking the care to get fixed twice.

yeah. my fiance just went through this, actually. if the car repair place does not fix it correctly the first time, it is up to THEM (the car repair place), not you and your insurance, to fix it the second time. you paid to have it done right, it is not your fault that they didn't fix it right the first time. besides, the driver probably caused more damage to his car over the next few months, but that's not necessairly his fault if the car repair place didn't fix it right the first time. hiring a maid is in no way related to a car accident... what, are they going to start sending you their electric and water bills too? i suggest you go to your insurance agent's office pronto and get this sorted out. if they aren't being helpful, they might be ripping you off, in which case you'd better get yourself a lawyer. how can they possibly justify you paying their maid bills? it sounds like they are taking serious advantage of you, which is especially sad considering they have kids and are teaching them to pull crap like this. as far as the chiropractor bills are concerned, you deserve to know EXACTLY for what everyone is being treated, and you need documentation proving it is related to the accident. i was hit a few years back in a very minor accident, but i did sufffer some bad whiplash from it. but i just got some pain killers and it was gone within a couple days. the other person's insurance did have to cover the meds, but i didn't milk it for all it was worth. you need to step up and get documentation and proof of all this crap because it sounds like you are being cheated badly. if it turns out they are cheating you, you should not only be reimbursed, but you should also sue for the insurance fraud that caused you so much financial/emotional trouble.
