Q. Since when have they been using electric cars? What did they end up doing with the gas cars?

Answer
>> How did China go about using Electric Cars?

You are mistaken. If you watch the olympics (NBC), you will see that Beijing pollution is so bad that they almost canceled the marathon run (for the fear of runners safety). And that is with the factories shut down and 1/2 cars grounded few weeks BEFORE and during the games.

If they have electric cars, it is more more than what we have here - a very small number.

good luck...

Where can i buy a good gas rc car online?

Brian

I want a good rc car but dont want to spend more than 180. + is an electric car better than a gas car?

Answer
Unfortunately, there just isn't anything "good" in that price range. I'd love to find a brand new SLS class Mercedes for under $100K, but it isn't going to happen.

If you want a GOOD radio control model you are going to have to spend at least a little more money. For instance:
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/1_44_1561_2575/products_id/251030/n/Traxxas-Bandit-Buggy-RTR-w-Waterproof-ESC-24GHz-Radio-Battery-Wall-Charger?utm_source=Google-Base&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Product-Feeds&source=google_ext&gclid=CO7lpfmX0rcCFSeCQgodiSgAHg

The Bandit is about as cheap an RC as I would recommend. This is the brushed version so it's quite a bit slower than the brushless version - which costs another $100 more.

Another option you have is to find something used on eBay. You should be able to find something fairly nice in your budget.

As far as which one is better, that is a matter of opinion. Electric is certainly a lot easier. Some people have a hard time tuning nitro two stroke motors.

How could electric cars help the environment?

Q. How do you think electric cars could help the environment and make a better future?

Answer
Yup, it helps reduce carbon emission. Think about it, normal cars burn fuel to produce energy to move the car and carbon dioxide gas.

Electric cars too need energy which comes from a power station.(Burning fuel to get energy and produces carbon dioxide gas) However, when one uses electric car instead of a normal car, with the same amount of energy, there is less carbon dioxide gas being produce.

It helps by reducing the amount of green house gases. Green house gases are the gases which absorb more heat, thus causing and increase in tempuratue in the atmostsphere.

I am considering buying a pure electric car, but I have been told that they are hazardous to the environment?

Karel

I want to buy an electric car - a Nissan Leaf - because I want a car with a minimal environmental impact, but I now hear that electric cars have an even greater negative impact on the environment than a petrol V8. Apparently the damage done by mining the Lithium etc used in the batteries, and the disposal of the old batteries is a huge hazard, and the Carbon impact of manufacturing it is much higher than a conventional car - even given the subsequent emissions. The argument is that the electric grid is "dirty". Should I cancel my order and buy a petrol car instead?

Answer
Put yourself in the shoes of a petroleum executive - electric cars are a threat to your business, aren't they? What would you do? Wouldn't you happily spread half-truths and disinformation to scare your customers away from them?
*
That is precisely what is happening. All the the things you have heard are either mostly or entirely untrue, and I can prove everything I say with authoritative sources.
*
Of course, mining and manufacturing are not environmentally pure things to do - but are electric cars really worse in this regard than gas vehicles? Of course they are not. It's true that EVs have things (big batteries) that gas cars don't , but the opposite is also true. EVs don't have many parts and systems found in conventional cars, like an exhaust system, oil system, coolant, large engine (electric motors are very small), fuel system, etc. All those extra parts and fluids have a carbon and pollution footprint, too, that EVs don't contribute to.
*
Bottom line - depending on battery type, the EV may start with a higher factory footprint, but this is easily and quickly offset from the higher energy efficiency from driving and from recycling. The study I link to below shows this.
*
And old batteries are NOT disposed of in landfills - they are recycled. Auto batteries are currently the most consistently recycled item on earth - something like 95% of auto batteries get recycled. Modern EV lithium batteries also are NOT made from toxic materials. See sources below.
*
The electric grid is only dirty because of coal - but coal use is declining. It reached a low of just 32% of the grid last year (in the US). You can't even escape electricity use by buying a petrol car, because large amounts of electricity is used to refine oil into gasoline! See sources below.
*
At least EVs don't burn a side of oil with their electricity.

I am in the prosess of starting a new business of converting older gas cars and small pick-ups to electric power. I have the technology and a source for all the parts needed, I just don't have the money to get off the ground. My credit is not so good, so I am looking for private investors. This is a much needed product that will help reduce the usage of fossel fuels and greenhouse gases. If anyone out there can help, please let me know.

Answer
There are several Venture Capital firms that will foot the bill for this venture if you have the right credentials and the right patents. It is very difficult to find and secure "Angel" investors and you may eventually lose your company if you are not saavy enough to deal with this type of investor.

CMGI has a division that handles green investments. There are also several brokers that can steer you in the right direction on this type of thing. There are also people that can steer you in the wrong direction. E-mail me if you have any more questions.

What car is good for converting to an electric car?

What car is good for converting to an electric car?
I'm interested in a car that is lightweight, has a manual transmission, and has room for batteries. I'm trying to convert a gas car to an electric car, and I need one that is light, has manual transmission, room for batteries, etc, etc. Has anyone done that and has advice/know a good car for it? I have a limited price range, and I need a relatively cheap car for it. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Answer
To convert a car to electric, you will find that you don't need many of the thing at the gas car did, for instance the gas tank, radiator, and motor.
the electric motor is much smaller the a gas one.
many people are building a battery pack to go where the gas tank was along with using the extra space in the engine compartment.
this is a link to what some others have done.
